i agree that we lost some great attaractions, but we also gained. yes it was sad to lose dream finder, the subs, mr toad, the extened back lot tour, millionaire, ect... Though we did gain more popular attarctions with loner lines cause of those darn fastpasses. they made lines longer.

R.I.P. old attractions may we never forget you.
welcome- attractions of the future.

seconded :)

Nostailgia is a very important factor for the over 35 crowd for Disney. That's what keeps us comming back and bringing the kids. Then in 20 years, they bring their kids, and the cycle continues. Nostailgia is Disney.
And yes, change is important. But in the form of adding rides and attractions, not replacing them to reflect current trends. We all know they have the room to add different/more lands to the parks, and the money. So stop building hotel rooms and expand the parks.
It seems to me that if they make a $1 profit from a film they decide to make it an attraction and market the heck out of it. In another 20 years are people going to remember POTC or Lelo & Stitch? Are they going to miss Mr. Toad or Test Track?
Nostailgia + Expansion = Success

Has there ever been any examples of putting an old ride back in once they replaced it? Has it ever been discussed?

I just wondered what the possibility might be of, for example, if they ever decide to replace Test Track, considering replacing it with World of Motion again.

It's not the change that I don't like, it's that what that change has brought has been pretty poor, in my opinion. I mean, what have we gained, really? Mission Space is a thrill ride plain and simple. Everest is a coaster, as is RnR. Tower of Terror is a thrill ride (a drop), and Soarin' is basically a movie with a funky seating arrangement. Test track at least has a little theming, even if it is really just a 3D version of every car testing commercial GM or any other car company has done.

I miss Horizons and Dreamflight and all, but I don't want to bring them back just as they were. What I want is for Disney to actually design a good ride again. Not just a coaster, not something to either draw in more teens or advertise their latest video offering. An honest, good ride.

I've been saying the same thing. I COMPLETELY agree. Everything requires change so that the next generation of Disney visitors can see the characters and movies THEY grew up with that they will want to share with their kids and complete that cycle you are talking about.

And I really can't see how the North Wing could be considered "classic" at all. If they try to knock down the main Contemporary building, talk to me then.

Sorry to pick but Delta Dreamflight didn't start out called that, it was changed. It started out as If You Had Wings and had a few changes made when changed to Dreamflight. My point is one person's classic, is something that was possibly changed previously

I used to love IF YOU HAD WINGS.I know it was no Eticket but when I was a small kid my Uncle was a Pilot for Eastern and my parents always told me "he" made the ride-lol:king:

I can't believe no one has mentioned 20,000 leagues, our first visit was just after they closed it, never had a chance to try it, Horizens was ok, and hadn't had a chance to try World of motion.

I actually mentioned 20k leagues.I used to love this attraction and im sad its gone.My grandparents took me to WDW every year for a week and it was my Grandfathers fave.I actually never knew it was based on a movie until a little bit older when I saw the movie.

Loved it too, would ride it again and again. Remember the song, If you had wings, had wings, had wings :snore:

It was one of my favourites, loved the high divers and the police man directing the traffic that suddenly had all the pelicans charging accross the road. Also the part at the end when you had the spiral projection that made you feel like you were turning sideways. By the way like the avatar, almost forgot that Eastern used to sponsor it.

Alas, I think that ride was too far in the past for most people on this board. Not all, but most.

Personally I am not completely broken up over 20K being gone - I miss it, it had potential, but it had it's problems, too. But I think it is a great example of change not always being good. If change was always good, then we would have to say the 100 acre woods is better than a ride.

if you enjoy waiting in long lines, i guess.

There are arguments both ways.

It is true that FastPass causes longer lines for those who do not have a FastPass.

And since you are limited in the number of FastPass's that you can obtain in one day (merely by the limited amount of time in a day,) you are going to end up waiting in alot more longer lines than without FastPass.

One of the members here has made some incredible tribute videos and I am pretty sure Dreamflight/If you had Wings is one of them. They are available at mousebits.

I'd like to hear your reasoning. This isn't true at all.

I'll do this in simple numbers to make it easier. Lets say you want to ride ToT. Lets assume there is an hour wait. Lets also assume that there are no 101s or anything during this time. Lets further assume that there are a number of fastpasses for this hour you will be in line, and lets call it 250.

So, in an hour wait, we can say there are 1000 people in line. Add 250 fastpasses and you have 1250 people in front of you. Now, without fastpass those 250 people would have been in front of you. If 1000 people in line was an hour wait, that means 250 people = 15 minutes. So add those 250 people to the line and you're at a 1:15 wait without fastpass.

The basic premise for "you wait longer without a fastpass" is that you are waiting longer than the standby time. So, yes, you may wait a little longer than what the sign says, but you aren't waiting any longer than what you would have waited if those people had already been standing in line.

How could it not ?

There are a finite number of slots per hour that an attraction can accomodate.

Taking away these slots from line A and giving them to line B will invariably cause a longer line A.

I do not want to get into this, as it has been discussed to death.
