Idea for Great Movie Ride Replacement

So let's face it, the Great Movie Ride is run down and dated... and so is Hollywood Studios in general
so I have this idea to completely redo GMR (great movie ride) but instead of classic live actions movies I was thinking it could be only Disney animated movies.
The Chinese theater entrance would be replaced by the old Disney Studios building on Hyperion Avenue.
The current ride's track system and majority of it's dividers and walls would stay but the all the scenes would be replaced
The movies I'm thinking of are (in order of appearance in ride)
-Oswald cartoon
-mickey cartoon
-snow white
-fantasia
-Cinderella
-sleeping beauty (maleficent)
-peter pan
-Roger Rabbit
-Little Mermaid
-Beauty and the beast
-Aladdin
-Lion King
-Ty Story
-assorted Pixar movie clips
-recent Disney movie clips
-finale

wat do ya think
Call me sentimental, but it's a classic and I would like to see it remain. Especially since many of our favorite rides already have their own rides. Toy Story has two rides on property, Snow White is getting a roller coaster, Cinderella has a castle, Beauty and the Beast has it's own area plus a show, ditto for Little Mermaid, Lion King has a show, Rodger Rabbit has his own ride in DL, Sleeping Beauty has a castle in DL as well as a walk-through attraction, Aladdin has Magic Carpets in WDW and a show in DL, Fantasia has a mini golf course...Honestly, the rest of WDW strictly features Disney characters and films, with some originals (like Figment). Hollywood studios is not. It celebrates all films, not just Disney films. Besides, some younger generations could use some culturing. I specifically saw Casablanca, Footlight Parade, and Singing in the Rain because of this ride. They are all classics and very enjoyable. I guess I just don't want to completely "Disney-fy" it, and I don't think that a general audience would want to Disney-fy it either. Don't get me wrong; I love Disney, but the park is about all movies, not just Disney ones.

I'd like if better if they'd use the theater at main street to show cartoons again like they do in DL. I go over to GMR and it's usually crowded. Earlier this month, we walked on and it was an anomaly. Some of the animatronics could be replaced though.

Now I would not have a problem if they decided to remove the Public Enemy scene and put in another, newer film with a similar villain feel. The Western scene should stay. I would replace Alien with one of the newer Star Trek films or Star Wars (especially since that scene gave me nightmares when I was little). The Indiana Jones scene must stay. As must Casablanca; it is on AFI's greatest movies list at number 2. Tarzan can go since they always have to say "No, it's not George of the Jungle" anyway. Fantasia may stay as well. I would like the overall ride to remain the same. Really though, the classics are what work. More modern movies tend to get forgotten, even if they were popular back in the day. Classics never get old.

But really, the ride is popular. They have no reason to redo it at this point. It doesn't have issues with breaking down, it normally has a wait of 20 mins or more (when I was there earlier this month, it was a walk-on and we were stunned), and it still looks good. They even considered bringing it to DL, but couldn't due to spacing issues.

Also, they should absolutely not get rid of the Chinese theater. It's a symbol of Hollywood Studios.

ohsorry, I guess u didn't read EVERYTHING I wouldn't either... I moved the plans over to animation courtyard and now I just mean if we r keeping GMR
You said replacing the Chinese theater. To me, that meant tearing it down. Replacing generally means getting rid of. I'm in college level english and have been since I was a high school sophomore(the grade you are currently in, am I correct?). I think I can read properly (no offense) but I also didn't read all of your posts after that. I have better things to do. I fail to see what good moving it would do. They have the space.

Also, your profile says that your favorite ride was Alien Encounter. Unless you mean in Disneyquest, idk how you remember it. It closed when you were 6 years old

I just watched Casablanca for the first time the other day...LOVED IT! I will appreciate that scene in GMR so much more now.
Me too! I did that with Casablanca, Footlight parade, the Searchers, and Singing in the rain. All wonderful films I would not have seen otherwise. Plus I appreciate the ride more.

Ok guys crazy idea here but might as well share. So imagine Echo Lake became a Lucas Land like so many people are hoping for. Now, Star Wars (1977) premiered at the Chinese Theatre. Why don't we set up the theatre to look like it did at the Star Wars premier and inside is the same ride track and system, but all the sets are changed to be a very long ride that takes guests through the entire original Star Wars trilogy.

I think it's a franchise that could hold up a long ride like that, and the story is so diverse it wouldn't get boring! It could have Special Effects, hundreds of AA's and maybe even 3D? Plus it wouldn't interfere with Star Tours because it wouldn't be trying to take guests all around the universe.

Let's face it, Star Wars land could not be built. At least not in the way it deserves. I think a massive budget E-Ticket is a nice compensation, don't you? The Great Movie Ride idea is too difficult to keep updated!

Thoughts? Ideas? Critiques? :)

even though this is better than changing it to a disney theme....this is still awful! TGMR DOES NOT NEED TO BE OVERHAULED!...

Sorry I am very Passionate about my Movie Ride. Thats the whole point of the Great Movie ride though...YOU DONT NEED TO CHANGE! Because Its timeless. Those Films will always remain some of the Greatest! Scenes I am willing to let be changed are Tarzan, Maybe Alien, Second half of mummy area, and Upgrade to Fantasia scene..NOHTING MORE!

I also don't want it to go because I think it's great for DHS, but something has to be done in my opinion. As timeless as they are, they're boring. And the no wait on the ride supports this. People like going into movies that they know and recognize, that's why Alien and Indiana Jones and Wizard if Oz scenes are so popular.

Its not Boring...Either way it will always be a slow ride. A whole movie ride based on star wars would be kind of lame. There is usually a wait when Iam there during the summer. NOT HUGE but like 15 mins.

I feel like the Alien, Indiana Jones, Gangster scene, Western scene and Wizard of Oz are the only things keeping it alive. The rest is just filler to me. I wouldn't mind going through a slow ride if I could remember watching each movie and I'm pretty sure most people are with me on that.

I think the gmr should have not only disney movies, but replace some of the scenes. When my car went through footlight parade, all anyone said was, "huh" or "what's that"

Singin' in the Rain? Casablanca? Mary Poppins?!

I'm all for updating the animatronics (as has been discussed at great length in multiple threads now) and perhaps even a show scene or two, but the heart of the attraction should remain.
