Trip Report I Will Survive.....Spring Break (with a hint of May) *COMPLETED*

At first I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live among the Spring Break crowds
But then I spent so many nights thinking how I could be wrong
And I grew strong
And I knew I could get along....

Well that’s what I’m hoping for anyway. I’m not a newbie when it comes to navigating Spring Break at WDW. I’ve got a couple decades of experience under my belt. “Spring Break” isn’t a single week of cray cray crowds (like the week between Christmas and New Years) but is spread over March and April. Unfortunately one (or more) of those weeks can end up being cray cray....and these days, there is no way to predict which one.

Please don’t let it be this week.

But we are prepared. ADRs at 180 days. FPs at 60 days. Clothing for rain or shine. (Praying for shine ~ we’ve had enough rain over the last 4 months to set an ark afloat.) And attitudes willing to “go with the flow.” 🐢

My goal is to keep the updates live. Should I fail? There’s always Part “Tu”.

Who: Tuvalu, Woody and Em (the teacher whose schedule dictates when we go)
When: Sunday, March 31 - Sunday, April 7, 2019
Where: Port Orleans French Quarter
Why: Let’s hope we don’t ask ourselves this!
How: We’ve done the plane, can’t take the train....so it must be the automobile!

Will we be smiling at the end of the week? Stay tuned.

And if you don’t hang around for the smiles, you may want to peek in and see if there are any WDWMagic meet ups. I know of at least three forum friends I hope to encounter.

Now it’s off to bed! The alarm is set for zero-dark-thirty.

In for the live report!! It just started snowing here which usually makes me happy but I'm so so ready for the warm weather
A woman walked by us last night at Epcot with the colossal cotton candy thing from Japan. Em asked me what it was. “Dryer lint explosion,” I replied. 🤣

I’m pretty sure it’s a state law that our only vacation options are Florida or Up North.
That explains it!

Once again I'm looking forward to your report. I was the last week and the crowds weren't too bad.
Good to hear!

That is a bummer to here the drink wasn't good, but the container is too cute for it to matter I suppose. I also had juice out of those plastic oranges, and I always have to explain to people that the Orange Bird is not a "new" thing.
yes those plain, plastic orange shaped juice containers..i collected those for a while...i miss them
just poke the straw in and drink
Yay for fellow old-timey Orange Bird fans!!

Are they still remodeling rooms?
I believe the remodeling is complete.

I have a seemingly silly question.. My son and I are booked for POFQ in July (so excited!) but all the pictures I see of the beds look like they don't have a blanket, just sheets. If that top part is actually a blanket, is it warm enough when the AC is cranking?

Just wondering if I should pack one of my blankets! I like the room cool, but my body cozy.
Like @susan lees said, the blanket is under the white sheet duvet. There is also a big extra blanket in the closet.

Looking forward to the live updates @Tuvalu. How do you think the crowds this time of year compare to the early December crowds? I am thinking of going just after Easter next year.
The further you can stay from Easter (avoid the week right before or right after) the better. Crowds are comparable to early December.

Up at 5:30am...rope drop morning?
Of course!

I always need an extra blanket on the bed. I find the ones on the bed too thin. My husband likes to crank the A/c. I usually call for an extra right away if there isn’t an extra in the room.

Monday, April Fools

The love for our room waned this morning.

Why?

This be the culprit.

It is the only outlet in the bathroom. And it is broken. Standing with dripping wet hair, blow dryer in hand, was not a good time to find out this information.

There is one accessible plug in the main part of the room....and it is not near the mirror. Ladies, have you ever tried to blow dry your hair while using a dark TV screen as a mirror? It ain’t easy.

A call to maintenance is forthcoming.

Breakfast in the room. An Entenmann’s extravaganza!

Supposed to be cooler and cloudy all day with a chance of rain. Not the prettiest picture of the grounds now, for all you POFQ lovers.

Online check-in actually worked today. I received our “room ready” text about a half hour prior to arriving at POFQ so we went straight to our room.

We are pleased to have a corner location. The extra set of windows provides more natural light.

A larger TV and an armoire have been added since our last visit in April 2018.

The beds are elevated with storage for luggage underneath.

And looky looky.....a fan!!

But the most unusual feature of our room is the bathroom. To quote our President, “IT’S YUGE!”

Rainfall shower head and soap dispensers.

We have frequented POFQ enough to know that this is not a typical room.
I had booked Garden View, which was the room type listed on my reservation.
But now in MDE the room type is: Gd FISpclAcc OptHr 2Q.

If you like what you see, you’ll need to request Gd FISpclAcc OptHr 2Q for your next visit....then be sure to let us know how that works out for you!
We stayed in one of those rooms once. And you are right, the bathroom is huge. It is arranged as accessible to accommodate special needs.
