Trip Report I Was LIVE - creating some new Disney memories

Why heelloooo there (said in the voice of the dinosaur puppet at the video before the Dinosuar ride in Animal Kingdom) -You've all just done the voice haven't you? I know you have. Don't deny it. I know if you didn't, you are now going back to do it!

Anyhow, it's those little things that have kept me going whilst waiting for this trip, which is now almost here, and I'm guessing you are here as you fancied a bit of Disney magic too - well I can't say I blame you I would do exactly the same thing if I were where you are right now.

I absolutely LOVE Disney, i could literally talk about it forever and I mean forever!
I check the Disney news every day and if someone is willing to talk about Disney who am I not to join in.

Prior to this trip I've kept myself amused making window decorations and a countdown and reading @Tuvalu & @Doc Disney trip reports which as you know come quite frequently. I've also passed the last year watching Jo & Ashley SRYS on you tube until they announced no more videos for a while which literally crushed my Wednesday and Sunday's. :(
I met them last year but they now have a family to plan for so I fully understand - but these days of the week just aren't the same anymore.

So who am I?
I'm Tracey, As I've already said Disney obsessed, want to live in Cinderella castle (who wouldn't? - why won't they let me? ) etc etc.
Myself and my husband Chris are off to Disney for 14 days from tomorrow - yes tomorrow - flying from the UK and arriving around 5pm
This will be our 20th, 2 week plus holiday here (once in 1996 and then every year since 1998) we rack up 297 days in POR during this trip. As those of you who have read my previous reports will know I absolutely LOVE this resort and will get to a whole year of my life here.
It's my 2nd home, as soon as I arrive I beam with happiness and normally cry at actually being there, not just looking at those pictures on my iPad.

Here I am in 2015 - this is one of my favourite photos from last year.

This year my brother Mark and his wife Claire join us. They were meant to join us last year but it had to be postponed but this year we will all be together.
It's their first year staying in a Disney resort so I hope they love Riverside as much as me. My brother has been to Disney 4 times before & his wife 3 times but they have never stayed in Disney. They are in for a real treat!

My brother and I get on so well together so I think this will be another holiday packed full of great memories.

So what else is planned?
Lots of ice cream - those of you have read my reports before will know that I have to have an ice cream a day when on holiday - more if I can :)
We have a keys to the Kingdom tour booked. Myself and Chris did this in 2013 but have booked again so Mark & Claire can do it too
And I have a meet up with Nicole, @prfctlyximprct Megan @Doc Disney planned. Well we were all there the same time so we couldn't miss the opportunity to meet so have formally planned it so we didn't miss each other. (@LisaBelle we will miss you - I take it the lottery numbers didn't come up)

Tonight we are headed to the airport to stay overnight before our flight at 11.40am tomorrow,
I just couldn't imagine getting in the car on Friday morning, getting caught in a traffic jam and missing my flight - that would be unbearable and something I simply won't let happen, so a hotel room for tonight it is.
We'll meet my brother and sister in law at the hotel and we will probably have a drink in the pub before going to bed.

So for the time being I will get back to packing the final bits and will update in the morning if I can get wi fi at the hotel/airport or you'll get an update when I get home to POR.

BTW I am having problems uploading any photos so this could all go horribly wrong (had internet problems here for days now) - but I'll hopefully be able to get that sorted in Disney - if not this will be the shortest trip report in history!

OMG the countdown that started at 350 odd days is nearly at 1 - I am nearly home in my Disney bubble.

Eeekkkkkk.

Your SIL's face trying the Beverly though wasn't too bad. I dragged my family in there on our last trip. My brother sensed something was up so he refused to try. The pictures I got of my Mom and Dad were priceless though! A few days later we dragged my sister and her bf in there and made them try it. They claimed it wasn't bad, so I was kind of disappointed. I'm smart enough to never have tried it.

Sounds like you guys had very busy days! Glad to see you go a lot done! Can't wait to hear about the KTTK tour.

It's funny people watching in club cool, and you should try it - just to say you have.

We were there yesterday too and it was very crazy! Think all those people are at Epcot today lol! Any day still an awesome day at Disney though. :)
Loving the trip report! Feel as though I am there with you. Actually i am! Hahaha Enjoy he rest of your trip! We head home tomorrow :(

We were at MK and it was really busy there too today. Have a safe journey home.

Definitely looking fwd to your KTTK tour review - may be booking this in spring and very interested to hear what you think of it. :geek::geek::geek:

Definitely worth doing! I would recommend - Updates to follow

Strolls around World Showcase as the sun is setting is one of our favorite times, except during F&W, which has gotten too crowded for us.

Wednesday and Thursday were very relaxing around World showcase.. not so much last 2 days, but dealing with holiday, dapper day, jersey week, and last weekend of food and wine fest.. perfect storm.. left Epcot around 6:00pm and couldn't believe the amount of people still going in. At magic kingdom now and busy but manageable. Grand finale of trip will be wishes at 10:00..

Was disappointed in beer selections this year, but I agree the grapefruit one was delicious! And the crowds were just a little over the top Today!!

Saturday 12th November

This morning we were all awake and left the room by just after 6,30am - after a week of Disney, let me tell you that is tough!

As we got to the bus stop a bus was in the process of pulling away, he saw us and reversed back but when he did he hit the top of the bus on the bus stop.
It didn't look as if there were any damage but Chris said when he looked it was dented at the topped the bus - I really hope he doesn't get in trouble for that.

We were on a virtually empty bus - just us and 6 other people were on the way to the Magic Kingdom

We got to MK at 7.05am - we were really early.
Our tour was 8am (same time as park opening) but we were obviously hoping to get in early.

Look at those people all there early with no breakfast or tours booked.

At 7.40am we were allowed in - obviously I had a little run and skip, and whoop whoop as we got in early.

And then it was time for the photo I had in my head with no one in it - only thing is we've just checked the camera and I think it went to manual, not automatic and they are all grainy! :(

However here is 1 just so you can see my excitement (even if it is blurry)

image.jpeg

Thank goodness I had grabbed a photo pass photographer to catch the shot I wanted
He did think I was a little crazy and he really just wanted me to stand up - sorry no I wasn't going to do that - I can do that when it's busy - this photo however can't be done on a busy Main Street.

image.jpeg

Can you imagine how cool this photo would be with blue sky, however this morning was pretty chilly and as it was so early the sun hadn't made an appearance, it did turn put to be a nice day later though.

Photos taken we tried to make a quick walk back to the front of the park to check in for our tour.

image.jpeg

As we were approaching the welcome show was going so I danced my way into town square to check in - the cast members were laughing at my excitement - I asked if I was good enough to get a job - they just grinned. I better keep practicing those moves.

As the park opened the masses entered and we stood outside town square and I waved as though I was an employee - for that brief moment I was living my dreams.

And the masses kept coming!

I had seen before we left that this was meant to be a busy weekend and in particular this day So I had booked the tour so we could do something we wanted on a busy day as I knew this would take us away from everyone.

We later found out on our bus home that apparently they have offered this weekend for $45 to locals - sorry I don't know if that was a day ticket or a weekend one but that could account for the high crowds - the most I have ever seen on any of my November trips in the last 20 years.

Sorry I digress, back to the tour.

There were just 10 of us today our group and one other - our guide Mikee told us they had low numbers as the park was expected to be busy.

We started in Main Street an were told about all the windows, we then did the first right once you enter Main Street, if you listen you can hear tap dancing etc from an upper window, the window is also marked tap lessons.

At the end of that walkway (tucked away right at the end are phones, apparently only last week they made these phones free to make calls, and apparently they work internationally too!)
Wow, free calls back home  - at least I know if I find time I can phone my mum - free

We spent a while in Main Street and then headed towards the castle

image.jpeg

Then we rode a private boat on the Jungle cruise - without the jokes, just to hear about the backstage bits

We then joined a show at the Tiki rooms and hear about the animatronics.

Then we went backstage and saw all the parade floats, the water reservoir behind splash mountain and some other interesting bits before heading for lunch

Then we were off to Hanunted mansion, again to ride, entering via the servants quarters.

We then entered the utilidors via fantasyland and spent time exploring them and learning more back stage secrets.

This is a great tour, you can't take photos back stage and it's a fair bit of walking - we had a full 5 hour tour and I would do again (well I did the tour in 2014 and saw different things this time - in fact we did 1 more ride this time)
If you have time then it's worth trying to fit in.

We had a Peter Pan fast pass after this so we headed over and despite the park being busy the fast pass queue wasn't that bad.

After all this walking I needed ice cream, hot fudge sundae

image.jpeg

We finished this and waited nearby as we had a Pooh fast pass

After that we did a few sorcerer of the magic kingdom Windows and stopped to see some of the filming for Xmas specials.

Can't remember what this guys name is but I know he went out with Cheryl Cole and I have no clue who the woman is but think it's something to do with dancing with the Stars?

image.jpeg

We left the MK and the crowds behind thinking of heading to Disney springs via our hotel.

We headed to the Riverside boat stop but he queue was long (I'm guessing we would have to wait for 2 boats) so we decided to take the car
We had literally only just turned from Riverside Drive into the road for Disney springs and we were in a traffic jam,the signs over the road were saying both orange, green and surface parking was closed.
So we turned into Typhoon Lagoon and turned around (along with quite a few other cars) and we headed home.

And that is where we have stayed - but we were up at 5am this morning

So we are having an early night and ad attempting AK in the morning with possibly a lunch time break if it's busy and we have Epcot FP from 4pm tomorrow.

Goodnight ....

Yes, I think you are right again. I read somewhere the Hough siblings were hosting an ABC special on Thanksgiving morning. Not sure what has become of the TV parade.

I think they are recording the parade elsewhere this year. Lots of filming going on today at MK though and FOF was moved to 5pm - and people were saving spots at 2.30.
Last week you could walk up and be in behind those sitting on the curb with just 15 mins to parade time, it was very busy today.
7DMT wait time was 170 mins at 2.30pm - crazy.

Love the photos of you on a nearly empty Main Street. KTTK sounds like a lot of fun. Very cool that you got to see them filming the Christmas special. Derek Hough is my favorite dancer on Dancing with the Stars!! Glad you have been enjoying all your ice cream!

I also think that Derek Hough is an incredibly talented dancer. Looking forward to seeing what they were filming--hopefully some sort of TV special coming up for the holidays? :)

Thank you - we didn't stay long watching but it's always interesting to watch something like that. KTTK is a good tour, I would recommend and you should get into MK early for some photos which is a bonus. We're struggling again to eat all of this food but I can normally find room for some kind of ice cream :)

You beat me to it--I was also going to tell @Longers what a really cool picture this is!!

Thanks, the guy thought I was totally mad but the same old pictures on my photo pass is boring me so we needed to do something different - especially as there is really no other opportunity to take this one.
