I saw Figment!

The picture says nigel channing and figment were inventor of the year award recipients. not that Nigel won the award for inventing Figment. Disney should just take another pic and add Figment to it.

From the pics that are already going around, doesn't his sweater look weird? Kinda too big and loose, maybe? I don't know... I really don't remember him wearing that in the actual ride, anyway. The image I have of Figment in a sweater is from the plush.

In the Finale, Figment wore his Kodak Color Sweater. It wasn't as large on him and it had no zipper.

Shame on Disney for making it the 'Gap Sweater'!

CHANNING MUST DIE!!! :fork: :fork: :fork:

He did NOT invent Figment!!! :brick: :brick:

I look a look at one of the pictures of the Hall of Inventors...and well, maybe I'm reading it wrong...but under Dr. Nigel Channing it doesn't seem that it says "he created Figment'....rather that it says "Dr. Nigel Channing and Figment."

Perhaps Figment is included in the "award" rather than insinuating he was created?

I'm hoping it doesn't mean "and"....he created Figment! =)

Please remember, I am speaking as a lifelong figment fan since the age of 3, with many, many memories of the previous ride and 3d films. . .

I actually enjoyed the new ride (the new new one, not the previous new one--ugh!) and rode it 5 times in a row over the 30th and 31st (I even saw Eisner coming down from the Kodak corporate lounge on the second floor--now _that_ was neat!). Yes, yes, Nigel Channing is committing plagiarism by claiming figment as his own, but other than that the ride was a big improvement over the previous "imagination institute" one.

The three elements from the previous ride are the train room, the upside down house and the butterfly (though I think the butterfly was moved--I remember it disappearing a lot faster last time). Of course, figment adds his own spin on them, and the house left me seeing shades of royal purple and yellow :dazzle:

In the interest of Dreamfinder fans, here is a timeline:
1983: Dreamfinder, a relative of H. G. Wells who was born with two right brain lobes, arrives from the past at Epcot with Figment. He and his creation become instant celebrities.
1995: Imagination institute founded next door, with branches in Anaheim, Paris and Tokyo.
1998: Dreamfinder, in an accident with his dreamfinding machine, dissolves into laughter and the dreams of children. Figment is left to fend for himself. At the insistence of Kodak, the institute captures Figment, places him under house arrest, and claims him for their own.
2002: At the request of Disney guests and Eisner's insistence, the Imagination Institute ends Figment's house arrest, allowing him to roam the park freely. They refuse, however, to give up his property rights.
2005: Dreamfinder rematerializes, sues the Institute, and reclaims Figment for his own. :animwink:

Unfortuantly, it does. Look closely, the other plaques read "Prof. Brainard and Flubber" and "Prof. Salinzki and the shrinking ray" It is saying who they are AND what they created. Disney really screwed up there and I believe they will receive another flood of complaints for it. (But, look on the bright side, maybe we'll get a picture of Dreamfinder hanging in the hall of fame! riiiight... heh)

It's a RIDE!

I've never seen so may people get their noses bent out of shape. If you remember, Dr Nigel Channing is a bit of a flop as an inventor, and takes credit for things he probably shouldn't. It happens some in "shrunk", and if I remeber from the previous incarnation of JII, he takes credit for other things (he's a bit of a bufoon if you ask me). So, if he wants to take credit for Figment, it would fit in with his personna, and "patenting of all things from the Imagination Institute", whether actually true or not.

Enjoy the ride!:slurp: :) :D

That smell...the good one

Someone asked what the smell of the old JII was, it was Lavander. I can't wait till I can make it down to ride the new JIISF... I loved the first ride then they redid it and it became bad, from everything I have read so far it seems like a winner again!!!! If I remember right from JIYI while you were in the queue Nigel thinks of Figment and he comes out his ear... I don't think he is creating him. I think he remembered him from the days when he used to see the Figment school movies and that was the first thing that popped into his head....you know like the stay puff man. How about all you great people that have the chance to go on the ride when ever you like stop screaming about all that rubish and get us (the Figment loving west coasters) more info on the ride.....I would love to see video or even the words to the new little "One Little Spark"

Oh, God. This will end in millions of letters arriving at Kodak asking "Why the heck does Channing say HE invented Figment?". Disney understand they made a fatal error, they handle some 7 million again and bring back Dreamfinder to close the plot hole.

It worked once!
WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!!

Petition to get rid of channing and replace him with Dreamfinder:

In the narration of the attraction itself, he does not claim to have "Invented" Figment.

He only makes mention that "Figment" was a discovery.

So Figment just existed and wasn't invented.

I realize he doesn't say it in the ride, but according to the plaques in the lobby he won an award for inventing him. BTW, all you who have ridden it... Figmentsimagination.com reported that the friends of Figment got a special greeting in the ride, any idea what it is?

::Taps his mic:: Hello? Is this thing on? What happened to this thread? Did the fates cut it? lol, it just... died! Anyone have an answer to my question above? I'm also really wanting lyrics to "One Little Spark 2" Thanks!

Yes, Channing referes to Figment as a "discovery" not an invention. He doesn't even claim it as his own, he says "Figment" was discovered during an experiment, and is sort of a "mascot".

There is a reference to Dreamfinder. Along the hallways are several doors of Scientists...one of the doors is labled "Dean Finder" There are TONS of inside jokes, sight gags, and puns is this new attraction. It will take several trips to catch them all. I even saw several props from the original stashed along the queue and attraction.

There are also several references to "Flubber", & "Honey I shrunk the.."

I still prefer the Original "Journey" this is %100 better than JII

YES, we know Dreamfinder "created" Figment. But when Dreamfinder vacated the Imagination building, he left him behind. Channing merely "discovered" that he had been left there.

As Well as some of the old "Computer Wore Tennis Shoes" and even "The Mokey's Uncle".

The old "DreamFinder" Blimp is pictured in the Finale along with a song sheet of "One Little Spark"
