Trip Report I know every mile will be worth my while! (A Princess 5K trip report)

Somehow I knew this TR title would reference a song from a Disney movie. I'm a singer after all, and the Disney Renaissance was basically my childhood. A few titles I considered relating to the theme included:

"It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small"
"If I go there's just no telling how far I'll go"
"Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest"
"There ain't nothing gonna stop me now cause I'm almost there"
"We must be swift as a coursing river"

But I went with Hercules for several reasons, not only because I relate to the themes of the song, but because it kept popping up during the trip.

In case you missed my PTR, visit A first, a second, and a third.

Otherwise, continue reading for a journey full of family, fun, and OF COURSE food!

Day 5, cont.

We had two FPs coming up, but first we wanted to find the elusive "emerald mistake tile" in the mural on the outside of The Land building.

tumblr_p4vc8hwdq51un92rjo6_1280.jpg

It's on the upper right side of the front doors.

Our first FP was LWTL, but the standby wait was short, so we rode that way first!

There were carrots here the other day!!

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo2_1280.jpg

Redwood! Reminded us of our California trip last summer. :)

Then, because we're nerds, we totally rode again with FP. We also rode Soarin' with a FP (no pics from either of these) and started making our way toward World Showcase.

Our first stop was France to try a dessert we had SOMEHOW never tried before:

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo3_1280.jpg

Strawberry macaron ice cream sandwich. HOLY **** this was good!! It was bigger than it looks in the photo and plenty to share.

We enjoyed sitting and people-watching in France for a bit.

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo4_1280.jpg

Our reservation wasn't until 8:20, and we knew it wouldn't take long to get there, so we took our time soaking in everything on our last night.

Soon we were checking in at...Spice Road Table! It felt like we'd just eaten there (...because we had...:cautious:...) but we've always enjoyed the food, service, and views here. We checked in and requested an outdoor table; the hostess went outside to verify there was one available, and came back shortly to seat us. Tarik, our server, greeted us soon and took our drink orders.

Here was our view:

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo6_1280.jpg

It's not the best view we've had there, but we weren't complaining!

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo7_1280.jpg

M's beer (Casa) and my wine (Bodegas Zerran)

We shared some old favorites from the small plates menu:

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo8_1280.jpg

Hummus and olives

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo9_1280.jpg

Hummus fries

And of course no meal at SRT would be complete without:

tumblr_p4vcbbILvO1un92rjo10_1280.jpg

Brie fondue!

We watched IllumiNations for the first and last time of the trip. I definitely cried.

Just before the fireworks, we had ordered a chocolate pyramid.

tumblr_p4vcduLN4t1un92rjo1_1280.jpg

Yum yum yum! There was some kind of crunchy hazelnut stuff inside so it was like eating a melty creamy Nutella pyramid. We took our time enjoying the last moments of dinner, but eventually we had to say goodbye.

Up next: I stall our park exit as long as possible...and M gets in on the action, too!

I'm way behind, but MAN! I love the medal you got for the race. I would die, because I LOVE Rapunzel and Tangled!

The breakfast at the contemporary looked amazing!!!
I agree, it was a nice medal! We loved the brunch and had a great time at CG!

I'm done with snow. Its killing my flowers and makes my work kids go stir crazy! *Sigh* enjoy your free day and stay safe!
Thank you! We are certainly enjoying the day so far! Luckily for us we live in an apartment building, so dealing with the snow is the job of the building management!

Side note: I have the sweetest wife! Tomorrow is our eleven year relationship anniversary. We like our wedding anniversary of course, but this one is more meaningful to us and we've been celebrating it a lot longer (obviously). We both have to work late tomorrow (boooo) but we'll be celebrating with Indian food and prosecco afterward (yaaay!). Yesterday she brought home an early anniversary present for me:

It's a moisturizing body bar from Lush, called a ScruBEE! Get it?? BEE!!! (Pretend it has wings-which would be entirely impractical for a bath bar-and you may see the resemblance better.)

Day 3: Friday, February 23 (THE BIG DAY!!!)

The alarm going off at 3:10 was a little rough this morning (remember we are not morning people at all!) but the excitement of what was coming helped us get out of bed. We shared a cup of tea as we were out of coffee and didn't want to overdo it on the caffeine, and grabbed our breakfasts: two bottles of Soylent.

We left the room right at 3:30 and waited no more than five minutes for a bus. We drank our Soylents on the bus and in no time at all we were arriving at the Epcot parking lot. We decided not to use the gEARcheck bags and to just hold our phones and such in our pants pockets, so security was a breeze.

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo2_1280.jpg

We took the opportunity to use the bathroom and soon the corral areas were opened! We were both placed in Corral F but we were able to stay near the front of the corral throughout the waiting time.

Around 4:00 or 4:30 a DJ started playing various upbeat music, Disney and otherwise. While we waited we enjoyed looking at all the different costumes around us. Of course most of the costumes were various princesses; we saw LOTS of Ariel, Snow White, Anna and Elsa, and of course Rapunzel. We saw a good number of Belle, Cinderella, and Aurora, and a few Tiana, Merida, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Mulan. We saw plenty of non-princess characters as well, from all kinds of Disney movies: from Mary Poppins, to Peter Pan, to Wreck-it Ralph, to Inside Out.

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo4_1280.jpg

At 5:00 the Emcees took the stage to welcome everyone, make announcements, talk about the charity, and pump us up for the race!

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo5_1280.jpg

Who recognizes the woman on the right dressed as Rapunzel??

IMG_3919-600x450.jpg

It's Carissa! Did you know she's a dietitian and personal trainer in addition to the work she does with Disney??

Carissa and the dude host (don't remember his name, oops!) took turns interviewing various runners while we waited.

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo6_1280.jpg

It's Bropunzel!

Around 5:15 C texted me that the three of them were parking. We texted back and forth as we waited for our turn to run but it would be awhile before we could actually see each other.

It was also around this time that Corral A started lining up at the start line. Because so many were running this race, a subgroup within a corral left about every two minutes. There were so many groups that we in Corral F didn't even start moving until after 6:00. As we were watching other corrals move we saw one of the best costumes of the day: a girl dressed as Belle in her blue dress, walking several paces behind the end of her corral, READING A BOOK!! Was that one of you forum folks?? If so, kudos to you!

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo7_1280.jpg

Bye, F balloon!

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo8_1280.jpg

Finally able to see the starting line! I thought it was a nice touch that EVERY subgroup got the fireworks to start!

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo9_1280.jpg

Oh hi, Spaceship Earth!

tumblr_p4temuZdAl1un92rjo10_1280.jpg

SO CLOSE!

tumblr_p4tephbpSZ1un92rjo1_1280.jpg

ALMOST THERE!!!

Up next: the race!!!

He finished first in the 5K and was dressed up as Ariel for the 10K.

Thank you! We tried the sparkling sangria in November (I think!) and it was probably my favorite sangria I've ever had. We've never had anything less than great food and service.

Happy Anniversary! That's so sweet! And we got a TON of snow yesterday. Holy cow!
Thank you! We got quite a bit but it was so warm yesterday that a lot has melted already.

I didn't post this sooner JUST in case M was reading my TR, but these are the flowers I got her yesterday. I ordered them from a local shop in our town and picked them up yesterday before I left for work so they'd be there when she got home. :joyfull: I actually ended up leaving work a little early, so I got home first, but that meant I got to see the look on her face when she first saw them.

Now, let's see if I can actually finish this TR???

Day 5, cont.

When we left the restaurant it was almost 9:30, which meant that the park had been officially "closed" for half an hour and IllumiNations had ended about 15 minutes ago. Therefore it was fairly empty, and getting emptier by the minute. Naturally I started taking photos of the empty park to delay our inevitable exit as long as possible.

Oh, America, my home. You've got issues. You always have, and maybe you always will. But I still love you, and hope for the best.

At some point during the night M started suggesting photos, too. It wasn't just me who wasn't ready to leave!

DUCK TIME

Epcot at night is so beautiful. If only it didn't mean I had to leave

By the time we left the park it was almost 10:00, so I'd say we were pretty successful at stalling the exit. There was a long line for Coronado but a bus arrived almost immediately after we got on line. We ended up standing, which we didn't mind. It was the only time we'd ridden a bus that was standing room only.

The ride back to the resort was quick, and we had to face the reality of finishing our packing.

One more photo from this night: M's parents always get us a little present to thank us for being the planners as they aren't as technologically savvy and rely on us for dinner reservations, FPs, etc. It's a labor of love, of course! This time they got us these adorable Minnie pens:

tumblr_p4vcfco6ve1un92rjo9_1280.jpg

And that was the end of the night.

Up next: Going home.   but also :)

OMG...I had the Brie Fondue at Spice Road Table in summer 2016. My husband isn't a cheese person and still doesn't get why I loved it or the restaurant that much, but any place that serves me that much good cheese as an appetizer is golden to me. Enjoying your TR!
NOT A CHEESE PERSON??? I don't understand!!! Haha jk. That means more for you! Thanks for reading!

Happy belated Anniversary!! 11 years is a great accomplishment.. congrats :)

Here's to 11 more.. and 11 more after that... and 11 more after that... and.. you get my idea ;)
Thank you! :D Looking forward to the next 11, and the next, and the next!

Catching up. Happy belated anniversary! Love your Epcot photos at night! Spice Road looks great.
Thank you! Yep, we always love Spice Road!
