I have a dilemna....which resort?

I have a small problem with my wife, daughter and I. I am going about getting things together to plan a trip to WDW.
My wife wants to stay at WL, my daughter wants to stay at POP, and I want to do Port Orleans. They are both adamant, especially my wife.
We've done AS Sports and Music and CBR.
I figured I'd choose the middle of the road with a moderate.

Some thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way...my daughter is 11 and one reason she wants to stay at POP is because it is cheaper and we could spend the money we save on other things like Turkey Legs!

Thanks

Tough call indeed.
I have always LOVED Port Orleans River side (more so than even the delux resorts...by far)..

but...

I never spend much time at my resort. So the idea of going with a value resort, and using the money you save on other goodies, is a good one.

So...I gues the question is.....do you intend to actually spend much time at the resort? Or is it more of a "place to sleep and eat a bit" before heading to the parks?

Multiple resorts! I'm splitting up my next visit betweek WL and AKL, so I don't have to pick one...

If I were splitting between your choices, I would end at WL so that you can have a really cool last couple of days--not that the other resorts will not be really cool, but WL is the best!

Welcome sparky! :sohappy: :sohappy:

I personally like PORS better then WL. When at WL you are close to MK, but far from everywhere else. PORS has great central location.

But then again when your DD wants to actually save you money, go for it.

We stayed at PORS in May with a code for 89 a night. It was only 20 a night then a value was going for, and since it cost $10 a night for a refride at a value and they are in the room in mods and deluxes now it was only $10 more a night.

The busses tend to be rather full at PORS. I think so at all values. WL busses are rather empty, but you share with other resorts close by there (some times the camp ground but normaly you are dropped off 1st so you don't go there.)

Not to be too nosy, but what time of year are you looking at?? That may affect my choice as to which resort. Belle
Depending when I get my funding...either October or early June of next year.

Check the prices out, if one or the other is out of your league, you have a good excuse. ;)

But here's a run down, WL is amazing and I would choose that, but it's a little more out of the way than the others. Pop Century is cheaper, not only in price, but in quality too. And Port Orleanes is great too, in the middle, not to expensive, not too cheap in quality.

Although the WL is by far my favorite resort I'm going with the split your stay votes. They will move your luggage for you while you are in the parks and everything will be set when you show up later in the day.

We never stay for more than 3 or 4 days, but if we ever do a loonger trip I'm going to give it a try.

Splitting up your stay is a good idea, but if the rest of the family doesn't want to do that, I'd stay at Port Orleans. OK, OK, it's my FAVORTE Disney resort, so I'm prejudiced :D , but you just can't beat it for atmosphere, convenience, amenities and location - and the price is right for me, too. ;)

You could always just straw straws. :p

I know in my family, the resolution would be to not stay at any of those, and try something new, different, or unexpected. That way, nobody wins and the conflict is avoided. All of the Disney hotels are so nice, you'll have a nice time no matter what.

OK just the time of year for me would rule out Pop completely. October and June are lovely months for enjoying the atmosphere and the amenities such as the pools the resorts give you. Pop is cool but not NEAR as immersive or as relaxing as PORS or WL. Either one will give you a great resort, awesome theming etc etc. I have only stayed at PORS so of course I Am partial to that. As others here have mentioned Id split my stay between the two!!! If I had to pick one, PORS, a nice middle of the road resort, great theming, nice pool areas both at the Main pool and the quiet pools, great breakfast place, central location and award winning landscaping!!! Always works for me!!! Belle

Well, if the wife isn't happy, no one is happy! Choose Wilderness Lodge. Though you can't go wrong with Port Orleans! My trip report contains pictures of Port Orleans. Just click on the link in my signature.

Our favorite is WL. Your daughter would love the pool there. My daughter was 10 when we first stayed at WL and she couldn't get enough pool time in. If your first night's stay is October 4th or earlier you would be staying at value rates.
