Splash Mountain I LOVE, you dont get soaked all over....BUT every year I say I want to ride Kali River Rapids. I dont do it cause of the unavoidable "SOAK FACTOR"

Is there a chicken out exit before boarding...or a place to watch and look at the themeing of the ride?

MAYBE this Septenber I will ride it...but not holding my breath. Does the water in the river have chlorine in it. I have ridden water rapid rides at other parks and the water stinks and you smell like it if you ride it

My wife and I plan on doing the Rapids our first day of "relaxing" so we won't haveto walk the park all day soaked. We can just go back to our hotel and change.

Ha, Ha  You sound like me....I absolutely HATE getting soaked on rides. I'm usually a pretty easy-going person, but I am such a big baby when I have to walk around the parks in wet clothes with my hair plastered to my head!! It's just such a gross feeling. I won't go on SM unless I'm in a poncho or it's the last ride of the night and we're going straight back to the resort.

We've never ridden Kali because of this reason...we're usually only at AK in the mornings and I don't want to walk around soaked to the bone. There has to be a chicken exit, as most other rides have them.

The only spot to see the ride is the bridge at the exit. You can exit the line at the same spot you board the rafts. Sometimes you may not even get wet...other times you're soaked. I've ridden it twice in a row...1st time maybe a few sprinkles of mist...2nd time, same seat, same raft, drenched!

You do have a fairly good chance of getting soaked on Kali. DS and I usually dress in shorts and tees going to the park, and DW carries a change of clothes for us. We ride it first or second ride of the day before the line builds, while she waits at the exit. There's a rest room close to the exit where we go to change if we need to.

My daughter and I have ridden Kali on our last two WDW trips - now call us fortunate (or whatever) but on each occasion we have come off with only splashes while others in the same raft have been soaked :lookaroun

I feel the same way, but REALLY wanted to ride Kali. So one trip during a slow time of year (September) I went there first thing in the morning and wore my rain suit. The CM let me go around 3 times without getting off, and then I just packed away my rain suit for the rest of the day. Yes, I felt like a real geek, but who cares - it was a fun ride!

Have you ridden Splash Mountain since they tweaked it? People are decidedly wetter coming off that ride than before. During cold EMH evenings it is a sure fire way to empty the park early. :drevil:

I always get soaked on Kali - no matter if there are people opposite me or not!! this year am planning on taking a spare set of clothes - are there lockers at AK similar to the ones they have at MK?

I don't mind the wet t-shirt as that dries out quick enough it's the shorts I don't like (most of mine are 3/4 length trousers).

I too hate being in wet clothes for too long. However as a beach volleyball player, I have plenty of clothes that dry out quickly. I have a couple of Nike Dri-Fit shirts - sleeveless that are bone dry within minutes tops. Nylon beach shorts hardly absorb any water to begin with, or else I'm wearing a pair of beach shorts that are similar.

As for footwear, I'm usually wearing a pair of sandals (I have good ones with neoprene pads) or if not, I carry a pair of flip-flops to switch into. Use the same plastic bag to wrap your shoes.

No real fuss, and I'm dry minutes after riding even Dudley Do-Right over at IoA.

My brother and I love getting in the front of Splash Mountain and lean down at the bottom of the drop. the people behind us don't like it do much, but its funny. As far as Kali Rapids, rode it three times. Once I got drinched and the other times, I hardly got wet. Its kind of a crap shoot as to if you will get wet or not. I felt bad, I took my girlfriend for the first time and she was about five times as wet as I was....it was funny, but I did feel bad.

I know I'm in the minority, but I've ridden this at least 5-6 times and never had more than a few drops of water touch me. I always come off it dry, and a bit disappointed!

I wait on the bridge at the exit. The thought of chance of being soaked from head to toe doesn't thrill me. I did bring an entire change of clothes, including shoes for my son last year and it was a good thing. He was in the rear facing seat going down the hill. DH calls that the "death seat."

Wear one of the cheap 79¢ raincoasts on Kali. I don't mind getting a little spray but getting soaked doesn't do it for me. There is always someone in line after we get off Kali begging for our used raincoats.

Well, when the family and I were on Splash last Nov, after the first lift to take you past the Brier Patch where the big water cannon is there is the area before the next lift, where the cannons are . They blow off as every log comes down the big drop....well we got more wet there than after the big drop ever did to us in all of our rides. They must have added ALOT of more pressure to them. We were so wet we would have been dryer if we were in the water.:animwink:

I always get soaked! Before we get on, I'm always like, "I want to get soaked!" And once we are strapped in and leave the loading area, my thoughts change and I want to get off before a drop of water gets on me.

I think the worst thing to get wet are your shoes. Or if you're a dork like me, your white skirt/shirt!! :dazzle:
