I Had My First Evac

I had my first ever evac during my trip 21/5 - 4/6/09.

One other thing I noticed from my trip that annoyed me was the amount of chewing gum that some morons had stuck to the rockwork at the bottom of the lift hill on Splash where Brer Frog is sitting on his rocking chair. Who are the idiots that think it's Ok just to stick it wherever they want? The bad thing about was that it looked like more than one days worth, you would think Disney would keep on top of this better as the more people see it the more it encourages others to do the same.

i hate it when people have little respect for things

For me - off the top of my head - Pirates and TTA. Pirates was kinda cool - they had to come out in waders and move the boat closer to the scenes - so we could climb up. "Behind the scenes" was really cool - the sidewalk was all different colors - like someone used excess paint - it wasn't "Disney" looking at all.

This past November - DH went to the Monster's Inc show - and DD and I rode TTA to hopefully get her to nap. Napping didn't happen - but we did get to walk off of it. We stopped just as you head into the dark out front by the castle. It was pretty cool walking off. Kind of hard with a 3 year old who is very curious about everything.

I agree. You can just pretend you're deleting it, then keep it.
And what are they going to do? Sue you because you had to be evacuated from a ride and took a picture to remeber it by?? :D

As for me, I've never been evacuated. However my ride vehicles have stopped during: Buzz Lightyear, SSE (Obviously..), haunted mansion, and dinosaur. Actually, during dinosaur the ride completely paused and all the lights went off for about 5 seconds then it resumed. I would have been completely freaked if I had to have an evac off of dinosaur in the dark.

My first evac was last year on Splash Mountain. We had just come down the big fall and turned the corner where the waterfall is when the ride stopped. 40 mins later they came and got us out - our right sides were soaked from the waterfall.

My sister was at the top of SSE last year when it evaced. She had to carry her 4 year old down. The car behind her contained a teenager with a full length leg cast and his 2 year old sister (the Dad was in the car behind them). My sisters husband carried the 2 year old while the Dad piggy-backed his son down. The CM told them of course that he could not help, but would be happy to call Reedy Creek to come get him off the ride. It took a little while, but they managed.

My only evac experience was on TOWER OF TERROR! It happened May 2007 in the morning. We were at the part where the "car" moves forward towards the "drop zone". It abruptly stopped just before getting to the drop zone. It was very cool seeing the inside with all the lights on because that part is very very dark. CM said a car on the other side had an issue so all had to be stopped. I'm not sure how long the ride was closed that day. Ironically, we took an elevator back down to the exit area.

I have to ask for ready creek if that happens, my husband is wheelchair bound and there is no way i could carry him out.

There is no way in he77 that I would erase pictures from my camera. I don't don't care what the CM says to me. They have no right to tell me what I can and can't take pictures of.

Actually they can. Disney is on private property and they have specific rules just like any other place. They cannot force you to delete your pictures but they can ask. Disney is just trying to preserve the magic.:D Would you want some stranger coming to your house and taking pictures of your daughter or sons room without your permission. Maybe you have a cluttered closet like I have and wouldn't want someone to take a picture of and post it.

You must have not been evaced from a cool area of Pirates, because a Pirates evac is defintely cool. But you haven't lived until you've been evac from SSE.

*Waits for EpcotExplorer to post*

Rub it in, rub it in.....

:D

I have only been evac from CoP... 4 times in a row. We had a newbie. hadnt seen it. Every scene locked up. We made scene 1; locked up. Next we made scene 1 and 2; then locked up... so on and so forth.

it was a bit maddening.

I also got stuck on tower of terror years ago but it was at the top of the ride before we were about to get dropped...i don't have the best luck when rides break down :brick:

Please explain.

I doubt it would stand up in court.

Bert Krages has a nice concise document on his site (he is an attorney) that describes what you are allowed to take pictures of.

http://www.krages.com/phoright.htm

To summarize. If you are in a public place, you can take pictures of anything - including private places, as long as it does not voilate a persons reasonable expectations of privacy. For example, if you are standing in a street and want to take pictures of a house, thats fine. If you slap on a zoom, and take pictures through the window of a person in the second floor bathroom, well you have violated their expectation of privacy

If you are on private property, allowing you to photograph items is up to the property owner.

Of course military bases, sensitive government areas, etc are outside the scope of this summary.

To quote

Property owners may legally prohibit photography on their premises but have no right to prohibit others from photographing their property from other locations. Whether you need permission from property owners to take photographs while on their premises depends on the circumstances. In most places, you may reasonably assume that taking photographs is allowed and that you do not need explicit permission. However, this is a judgment call and you should request permission when the circumstances suggest that the owner is likely to object. In any case, when a property owner tells you not to take photographs while on the premises, you are legally obligated to honor the request.

However the property owner has very limited rights when it comes to detaining you once you have taken the picture, and they have NO right to confiscate your film (or delete your digital images)

So in the instance that we are talking about, its a picture of private property while on private property - so the owner (or his designated representitive - the CM) can prohibit you from taking pictures. However, once that person took a picture, the CM could not detain them, nor could they take the camera or force them to delete the image.

However they could attempt to determine who you are (I guess they could tail you to your car) and then obtain a court order for your camera and associated pictures.

The photographers guide to privacy is also a handy document to have to keep you out of the courtroom

Good info Phonedave!

I've never been on an evac, but I did ride on TTT through Space Mountain when the lights were on. Cool. Here is a pic:

Still my favourite Theme Park Review video. They took that in October a few years ago when a lot of the site members went for a Halloween gathering... I still nearly cry with laughter to this day. :ROFLOL:
