As some of you know, I teach older 2 yr olds (they are all turning 3 by Feb. 28). One of my mom's was telling me today that she was looking through a magazine with her daughter and they came across a picture of Hillary Duff. The little girl pointed to the picture and says "There's Ms. Beth" (she calls me Ms. Beth because Ms. Elizabeth is too hard for her to say). Now, I don't look a thing like Hillary Duff  , but I thought it was sweet because I think Hillary is adorable.

Haha yeah they are...unless they are 5th graders...then they know everything and the teachers stupid jokes are no longer funny. ...yes I do talk from experience. I teach music (mainly piano) and have kids from 4 years old all the way to 16. I also teach French to 5th graders in an early foreign language department at one of the elementary schools. They are the ones who are obnoxious!!!!!! I bribed them today with candy not to say the word "french fry" (don't ask) for the entire class. It worked, yay! The most obnoxious one gave me a hug and says,"Your my favorite teacher because your're pretty." lol :) She is still obnoxious though!!!

As a past and current mother of a 5th grader, I can agree. I also taught 5th grade Sunday school; I made a couple of parents sit in on the class so they could see how the other children misbehaved, then told them that THEIR child was worse. I didn't have any problems after that.

;)

I miss the days when my daughter wanted to dress up like mommy; now I get the "Are you going to wear THAT?" remarks.

I need to try that with my Tuesday/Thursday class parents. :lookaroun

Actually, there's one little girl in my Wednesday/Friday class who is awful. By awful, I mean AWFUL. She's very smart too. My co-teacher (it's a 6 to one ratio) and I finally had to go to the director and let her know that we couldn't do anything with her and that the other kids didn't even want to be near her (they'd move away from her). The director kept coming in to observe her, but she'd be good. Made us look like we just had it out for the child. FINALLY, one of the other teachers saw her in action and let the directior know.
We're working with her, but not too much we can do. Her mom doesn't seem to care about her acting up. She just told us that her brother is the same way. Glad we didn't have him.

Oh I know. Teenagers are the worst. My best friend teaches 8th grade History. I don't know how she does it. Of course, she tells me that she couldn't do the age I do.
I chaperoned a field trip to Atlanta with her one day. OMG... never again.
