I defy you to judge my ADRs

Hey there Hi there ho there...

Well, we're booked up for our vacation, a week with a Lake View at BLT. It will be a hard vacation - our first one with Slapperina Numero Duo, and driving 1100 miles each way with a 3 year old and a 6 month old is a tad daunting - but Slapperina is an excited little kid, and I always wanted to stay at a monorail resort, so cool beans in general...

Because the kids are so little, we're not expecting to be park commandos - maybe some early morning EMH once in a while, but probably no late ones - so rather than take that time waiting on line for character sightings, we opted to spring for the Deluxe Dining Plan and do a lot of character meals, taking our time and enjoying the ambiance and themes of the respective restaurants. Based on where we're eating and knowing the sorts of things my wife and I like to eat, even skipping an appetizer or dessert once in a while here or there, the Deluxe Plan pays for itself with a bunch of credits to spare.

Because we're staying at BLT, most of our ADRs are either in the parks, or in the Contemporary, or in resorts accessible from the Contemporary by monorail or boat, just to make life a little easier. Even though we'll have our car, one less trip in the car will probably make life easier. And at the moment, we're not planning on getting park-hoppers (that may change, at least I might get one because I might not nap when everyone else is, so I'll walk to MK and ride the rides Slapperina is too young and/or small to ride some afternoons). We're also visiting a few restaurants twice, just because I think our oldest will like them most.

So here's what I got...

Arrival day, Sunday, probably just a counter service lunch (we'll be arriving, fingers crossed, around noon). Dinner at 6 at Chef Mickey's (character), hopefully followed by a chance to get to Top of the World lounge for fireworks, but if not, we'll find a poa

Monday - MK
8:05 breakfast at Crystal Palace (character)
Open-ended Lunch, maybe using snack credits, depending on how hungry we are
5:30 dinner (after an afternoon break back at the hotel), boating or driving over to Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Tuesday - AK
9:05 breakfast at Tusker House (character)
Open-ended Lunch, maybe using snack credits, depending on how hungry we are, probably back at the hotel before a nap or swim.
5:15 dinner ADRs, driving to Boma in AKL (a must every trip since our first)

Wednesday - Epcot
8:30 Breakfast at Akershus in Epcot (character, and one Slappette & Slapperina are REALLY looking forward to)
Open-ended Lunch, maybe using snack credits, depending on how hungry we are. This day, because dinner reservations are later, probably lunch back at the Contemporary, but perhaps we'll see if a walk up is available at San Angel Inn in WS Mexico
7:50 reservations at Rose & Crown. This is our latest reservation, in hopes the kids will make it for Illuminations.

Thursday - Studios
light breakfast, maybe even using snacks, probably at the resort since last night was a late one
early-for-us lunch at 11 at Sci-Fi
dinner @ 6:20 at 50s Primetime

Friday - MK
8:30 breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table
No definite plans for lunch
5:35 dinner at 1900 Park Fare in the GF (character)

Saturday - Maybe a water park during the day, MK at night
8:35 breakfast, driving to Beach Club for Cape May Buffet (character)
no definite lunch plans
5:50, back to dinner at Crystal Palace. Slapperina likes her Winnie the Pooh

Sunday - departure day, not sure which park, if any
8:05 breakfast back at Chef Mickey's. I was kinda thinking, since this restaurant will be the first one Slapperina will have visited to see characters, she'll want to go back anyway.
Where we go for lunch will depend, largely, on which park we choose to visit. Or we may drive to Beaches and Cream, and while there, go to the Beach Club marketplace and use our leftover snack credits for some pre-made sandwiches we can throw in our cooler and eat for dinner on the road.

At this point, we'll have only, definitely used 15 of our 21 credits, and that will still be a ton of food. Sure, we can still have a lot of counter service lunches, though I'm not sure we'll need them, I think we'll be able to get by, a lot of the time, on the 2-credit snacks portion of the plan for a lighter meal. Not necessarily ice cream or candy, but a pretzel and a piece of fruit...ok, probably ice cream and candy. And with the extra credits, if there are days where we have to cancel ADRs (which we'll do, promise) and make it an early night, BLT/Contemporary has a pretty nice room service menu which will cost us 2 credits each. Or just hit the food court or one of the monorail restaurants where there's a fighting chance for last-minute seatings, like The Wave (less likely as reviews seem awesome, but it's still apparently a "hidden gem" for now), or Kona Cafe at the Poly or the Grand Floridian Cafe at GF.

What think you?

Unless you've been to the WCC before, I'd highly recommend against taking little ones there. It's way too noisy for standard dinner fare. I'd suggest the Trails End Buffet instead over at the camp grounds. It was so loud this past September you had to yell to be heard.

Other than that, sounds good. I'd recommend the Grand Floridian Cafe anytime. I usually eat there several times a trip. They have great big bottles of Evian that are on the dining plan that can go with your meal, if you're tired of the standard Florida tap water, and watered down cokes.

Thanks. We're actually a loud family. :D I'm a loud guy and I tried to acclimate Slapperina to the noise. Ironically, now that we have a second daughter, she has to get used to me telling her to be quiet, a thing we never had to worry about before. But it's also one of the more-inconvenient restaurants to get to, so there's always a chance we'll nix it.

I highly suggest you have lunch or dinner one day at the Wave since you're there at the Contemporary anyway. The ambiance is nothing really special but the food --- WOW. The Wave's not all that popular yet - you should get in easily without ADRs.

We had our best food (again, food, not ambiance) of our entire WDW careers at the Wave. Everything on the menu looked amazing - our food was fresh, prompt, the right portion, the right seasoning, it was just perfect.

Don't get me started on dessert... also incredible.

i've had lunch once and dinner once at the wave and i agree that might be one you could consider since you're staying at the contemporary. the california grill is a great meal but a much slower pace and could be taxing if your children aren't use to a 1-2 hour meal. to maximize your credits have you considered any signature venues? i took my granddaughter (then age 5) to narcoossees, flying fish, and citricos (she's the type that likes to go out to eat at a sit down venue). Or maybe do a parents night out to a signature venue and have the kids with one of the kids clubs? just a thought. have fun.

In my experience it is the little ones making all the noise. :lookaroun

Are you guys breaking up the long drive? Staying one night somewhere, we were just a couple of miles behind your milage ( we were lucky enough to be able to stay with relatives on a "halfway" mark). I do not have any suggetions on where you guys can finish off your credits, but very much look forward to your review of your "quiet/ loud" ADR's! But, on a side note, I do challenge you on not being able to at least one day on trying not to be a "park commando"! Very good luck on visiting with chracters, we did very good with our daughter, but after we crunched the numbers...standing 15 minutes here, 45 minutes there..came out to about 24 hours of standing! Next time we go, if she wants to meet a chracter, she will stand and we will sit and wait on her to finish! Ha Ha! We also had access to our car at the WL, but never drove it..we were just so content on the busses, boats and a comp taxi for golf that it felt like a blessing! Good luck and have a GREAT trip!

Sounds great! My favorite line is highlighted above. Does Slapperina like Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland? If so, she can see them as well as get more Pooh fix if you add a breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.

The noise is precisely why it IS a good place to take noisy kids! lol

One thing I love about when we go is that we hardly use any snack credits at all during the trip. So, at the end we usually have like 20 credits or more saved up. We head down to the Pop food court and rack up on snacks for the drive home. I sure do love me some WDW fudge!

Looks great to me! We have stayed at BLT twice now and planning our third for this August, I like to stick to the same strategy to really take advantage of the location. I definitely vote Kona Cafe! We had both breakfast and dinner there last trip and were super impressed, it was hard to pick one for our next trip but we voted breakfast.

And as far as Whispering Canyon, the DH loves this choice for our family because of the noise, we don't stand out as much in that crowd. Happy to see Akershus for breakfast, I get the princess presence being necessary but we were not impressed with the lunch there.

DEF Whispering Canyon.. Do NOT go to Trails End unless you want bland cold food and just a few pickens to choose from. Boma I would nix because to us its the worst food we ever ate and we tried it 3 times.. Just our opinion though
Great for 1900, Crystals, and Tusker all on our list for this next week..

My wife and I love the Cali Grill. Same deal as the Wave, though, we're giving it up for this trip. If either of our kids were to act up and ruin someone else's night out, we'd feel awful.

We do have the Cinderella's breakfast, so the one signature meal, such as it is. But unlike your granddaughter, Slapperina doesn't have a lot of experience at sit-down venues outside of Red Robin and diners.

Don't think we'd want to leave them in a kids' club. Not this time. Maybe when they're older.

thanks for the well wishes. The plan is to start driving after dinner one night, getting at least 2/3rds of the driving out of the way by driving all night and a good chunk of the next morning before stopping in Savannah for the rest of the day and night, leaving bright and early the next day to be there by noon-ish. I'd prefer flying, but aside from my wife hating to fly, we're bringing a lot of gear with us to try to keep our baby with familiar things - her own pack and play, her single stroller and our double stroller for both kids when necessary. Plus, we'd want a car, so this cuts down on paying for a rental. Also wouldn't mind the Autotrain but the prices are so much more compared to last time...

Wow!!
My wife and I are not big fans of buffets, character dining, or the forced antics of places like Whispering Canyon and 50's Prime Time.
So your ADR's are truly our worst nightmare!!!!:ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Buy hey, to each his own.
I'm sure the little ones will enjoy.

Kudos on that Rose & Crown ressie though.
