So, I discovered that somehow, even though my cats have not been allowed outside, we have fleas. ICK! So I went out, and immedietly bought tons of flea crap... collars, sprays, and *gasp* SHAMPOO!

So today I gave my cats, Jaela and Jaden a flea bath... you would swear that I was beating them by the sounds of thier cries. The poor things. I tried to explain to them that they would feel so much better after it, but they just didn't want to listen. It only took me 15 minutes to get them into the bathroom (a record time!) They wouldn't even accept kitty treats for bribes... the poor things... they probably hate me now... :(

so...before you dried them off you had wet...

Ya know...even I can tell when it's just too easy.

Did you try to tempt them with pictures of Mickey Mouse? Cats like chasing mice :D

My cats are not allowed outside either, but someone I have seen a few fleas just this week. I guess they found their way in somehow. I had to go get Advantage fromt he vet for them. Poor kitties, they will forgive you, give them a couple of hours, or when they are hungary.

They're starting to forgive me as they dry off... that, and I got out thier favorite hair brush. It's one of those curved metal things with the edges... Jaden LOVES that thing. :)

Remind me next time to get them high on kitty weed first, and then maybe they wont notice?

 You are f :zipit: :zipit: nuts!!!!

But you are a hero, Invero! I could never catch my cats to wash them, nor to do anything else! And my apartment was also full of fleas and none of the pets were allowed outside. I think the fleas come into the house after the pets... :fork: Well, now I don't have cats anymore, had to give them away because of my baby. Allergies... I managed to keep the dog tough... Anyway, I would love to see a pic of your cats (wet and mad, of course). I love wet pets!!! They look so cute and so funny!!!

Cats hate everyone until they are hungry or require a scratch. Have you ever seen an evil baddy in a movie saying a line such as "And now you die Mr Bond" whilst playing with a dog? Nope. It's always a cat. Why? Because cats are evil! QED.

Here is a shot of my sister's dog, Kady. She had just gone for an unauthorised run in the woods at the back of her house and smelled like she had found some deer poo to roll in, so my sister gave her a bath.

The photo is of her in mid shake. For those wondering what breed Kady is - she is a mutt. The mother was a collie/boxer mix and the father a husky.

Tyler you have cats; try picking up a 65 pound dog who will latch onto anything (or anyone) and howls when you try to bathe her.

Don't forget to check the house, make sure you got all of the fleas.

We usually use the Frontline flea drops so they don't have to wear a flea collar. They don't really like the collars they normally wear, so making them wear a second one just isn't very fun for them. You just put the drops on once a month and they are all set until the next month. Takes care of fleas, ticks and mites.

A sure fire spray that works extremely well is called Mycodex. You spray where the cats lay, around the litterbox, along walkways, etc. Make sure you get the water based spray, as it won't stain carpet or fabric. This stuff gets into the fibers and kills the fleas and their eggs. I had an infestation years ago, I sprayed this stuff once and the fleas were gone. The only drawback is, you must get this from your vet and it can be pretty expensive, but it's worth it.

My aunts cat is allergic to flea bites so when he gets bit, he stops eating and gets real sick. Happens at least 2 times a year. He knaws at himself until he has open sores. 3 months ago I had to give him a bath and clean his wounds for him. Poor thing cried like a baby. Try giving a rabbit a bath. I have a white rabbit (gizmo, you can see him in my pics in the signature) who had gotten dirty when rain leaked into his nestbox. He wasn't white anymore so I had to give him a bath. I ended up with scratches up and down both arms, my face, my neck my chest and my stomach. He was terrified. I've given quite a few animals a bath so I know what you are going through. Gizmo wouldn't have anything to do with me for 3 days.

This is so true! or else you're going to be in the same boat (or bus) that you were in today. Nothing like sitting on the sofa an the fleas are going for your white socks. Tyler, make sure you vacuum really good, and throw the bag out immediately. All it takes is one flea to jump on a sock, and you walk inside, and there you have it.

My dog was like this too. But all was gone when I gave the two cats away. So I keep thinking: was the dog really allergic to flea bites as the vet had said, or to cats? She did exactly as you said, bit and scratched herself until she was full of wounds...

I gave my guinea pig a bath once. She hated it! It was when she was a baby. She had some skin disorder or something. It made her skin full of scabs and she had a giant rash. The vet gave us some drops (and I think some cream or something) and it cleared her right up. The problem was it also made her fur really greasy. So, we had to give her a bath. She hated us and spent the whole time trying to climb out of the tub. At one point she succeeded and made it all the way up my dad's arm (he had long sleeves on and she had just gotten nice and soapy. I found it hilarious). She survived and got over it, but that is the worst pet bathing story I've ever experienced (not that I have very many though, my other one was my grandma's cats and dog, they left me with multiple tooth and claw marks. I looked pretty beat up when I came home!)
