Here is a video of me doing five of the attractions at Typhoon Lagoon, one of which is Storm Slides.

In the video you can see the red/green light system, the attendant at the top of the slide, the pool at the bottom as well as the audio announcements made about how to proceed.

You can also gauge the speed of the slides.

Hope this sheds some insight.

Think for yourselfer
I think it's time to agree to disagree. I will not accept full responsibility here. We very cautious parents and I highly doubt my husband completely ignored the lights along with a dozen of so other people. Disney may seem like a magically place but people and equipment malfunction even in Disney world! So I'm going to let it go now. Even though I did enjoy getting your disney underwear in a bundle.

My undies are hardly bunched. I am not a blind defender of everything Mickey. In fact I am quite critical of the mouse for many different things. This however is pretty cut and dry. The CM is not at fault. Of the two possible reasons for the issue, neither involves the CM.

First off, aren't you an administrator? Should you really be adding fuel to the fire? Secondly, I worked as a lifeguard at a place with slides very similar to the one being discussed. It is possible to control the riders going down these slides. All I would do is stand in the well to prevent anyone from going anywhere and once the next rider was supposed to go, I would move allowing them to push off and go down the slide. Quite simple really, you just had to be proactive about it and not just sit there when people decided to go down whenever they wanted.

Firstly. Steve is not only the administrator, he is the creator/owner of this here website. So I am pretty sure he can do and say whatever he feels like.

Secondly, enough with trying to blame the CM. There is a very simple system in place to control the pace at which riders are dispatched. If someone decides to ignore the rules, then how is that the CM's fault?

Never did I blame the CM, I just simply stated that it is possible to control when and how fast people go down the slide, which the person I quoted said was impossible to do.

Firstly, it's merely a discussion and I don't think that the administrator joining that discussion is "adding flame to the fire". It's hardly a heated debate.

Secondly, there is no way for one cast member to stand at the mouth of all three slides at the same time.

cool video.

Thank you. I really like Blizzard Beach (you can see my Summit Plummet video on Vimeo too) but Typhoon Lagoon edges it out as my favorite water park.

The theme and layout flows so well and is executed with great detail. The most relaxing place on the planet for me is on the lazy river. (When there are no screaming kids behind me :animwink:)

There are three slides that are monitored by one attendant in my experience. Last week I went to the water park and as you can imagine it is difficult for the one person to stand in between all three slides at once. When you arrive at the top of the platform there are to slides directly in front of you which the attendant was standing between and a third slide to the right. As other posters have previously mentioned the lifeguard/attendant was simply telling people, one rider at a time and instructing them to wait for the green light. After saying that I must mention there is nothing preventing people from sliding prior to the light and from my experience the light took over 30secs to change both times I rode the slide. I do not enjoy sliding quickly and try very unsuccessfully to not gain much speed on the slide but still had at least 10 seconds in the pool before anyone came down after me. I can imagine the only way a collision can occur in the pool is when people slide prior to light which when sitting in the rushing water being watched by people on the bridge waiting is very tempting.

VERY cool video!!!! :sohappy: LOVE Typhoon Lagoon myself and I think Crush 'n' Gusher MAY just have become my favourite ride in WDW this past trip in March! Nothing beats a nice warm, sunny day at Typhoon Lagoon floating around in the lazy river or hitting up the wave pool or water slides!

Yep I am on the owner of the site, and I do take an active part in discussions. I felt the original post was unfair to blame cast members and I have explained why. Discussion is what this forum is for.

That is an awesome camera! Is it waterproof, or did you use a box? Either way, great video. By the way, I'll be using my Canon D-60 to photograph the girls taking the surf classes. It's video capable, so I'll see what I can do with that. If the video turns out well, I'll investigate a box, but they're pretty pricey and a big chunk of equipment to lug around. You're works great!

I think this thread has run its course.

The "debate" is getting no where (other than people getting more heated with each other). No one will ever prove who was right / wrong. The OP will stick to their story that their child isn't to blame, the Disney purists will offer an argument contradicting this

Close it and lets move on

I used a Flip cam, last generation. I bought the water proof housing for it for use in the water parks.

Flip cams are being discontinued which is unfortunate because it was a good way to be able to obtain footage like this cheap.

A couple weeks ago I took some footage while snorkling in the shark reef. That will be coming soon on my site.

No it doesn't. The internet enables us to visit great sites like this, glean a wealth of information from other sites, catch up on current affairs and make purchases online instead of going to the shops.

Threads like this are topical for a while and argumentative thereafter and become boring - hence the request to stop and move on.

This thread has got nothing to do with the operation of the www

I got hurt at blizzard beach, I was completely at fault though.

I was riding a tube on Cross Country Creek and at the exit jumped out of my tube, but my finger gut stuck in the handle and broke it. Disney was very apologetic, gave me a splint for it, and said if I were to go the hospital tell my resort manager.

When we arrived home from the trip I had mail from DW. It was a letter again apologizing for my injury and if I had visited a doctor they would reimburse us for the bill.:)

A Go-Pro is also a great option. They are quite small, shoot HD and some have water tight housings ... all for around $250 ish range.

So how often do you go to Disney? Do you get any special perks because you have this FANTASTIC web site? I love the info I get here so please accept my sincere thank you!
