BREAKING NEWS: Price gouging at Disney resorts. Cast Members were recorded selling refillable mugs for over $16.
o_O

In all seriousness, looks like a few more stormy hours and Disney should be in the clear. Glad this stayed a little further offshore. Keeping those along the northern coast of FL and GA, SC, NC in prayers. Hopefully this will be called a close-call by tomorrow.

Can't emphasize enough that people need to be wise to what's going on and not just listen to the "news" stations. They make a lot of money by hyping these storms. Use the resources at hand to be smart about what's coming at you, but don't over-react based on information they're flooding you with. It will always be the worst case scenario message.

Daytona Beach expected to see a peak of 55 MPH winds around 11am.
Daytona Beach is getting pounded already. :(

Hurricane preparedness cast have been staying in the parks and Disney Springs throughout, with the aim of monitoring and dealing with issues as they arise. This leads to a very rapid recovery, and they are hoping to get something open on Friday.

I wouldn't expect anything to open today. Plans are to assess everything later today, then start undoing all the prep stuff, then they have to check all the rides and facilities, and then they will have to call all the Cast to see if they could come in to work. Not likely today, but things should be good tomorrow with a few attractions or locations having delayed opens or remaining closed.

Plus, if the parks were open and the hurricane hit hard, it'd be pandemonium trying to evacuate, tend to injured guests, and deal with irate people refusing to leave. Imagine the operations of trying to get everyone OUT of the park in an emergency? Bus transportation, wheelchairs, strollers, people, etc.

Totally did the right thing.

A lot of this "not being hit hard" is premature. Certainly they are inland, but the storm north/south is still in the vicinity. I think the biggest threat to people at WDW is all of the loose things that can break away and hit somebody. Think of the planters, light poles, signs. They did the right thing. I wouldn't want to get hit by one of those.

Does this imply that the Orange County Curfew may be lifted as well?

The cast were on-site before the curfew went into effect. That does bring up a good point though. Even if the parks are able to be opened, which I doubt, any travel would be prohibited as most of WDW falls within Orange County

Technically it's reedy creek so they govern their own "laws" if you are traveling on the roads due to work you won't be arrested. So cast can come and go.

I don't forsee any parks opening today. Disney will be getting their resorts back up to full running first. There are guests who need to be fed. It takes time to get the parks back up. Every trash can and temporary cart or structure was moved indoors. All structures have to be checked for damage. Plus there will be clean up. In Universal's case they are going to have to put back up alot of HHN structures, sets and props. A lot of that can't be done with guests in the park.
