Hurricane Matthew

Once again.... another bogus "catastrophe" brewed up by TV stations, bloggers and radio dying for ratings.... Even the FLA governor looks like an A$$ at this morning's press conference.

And which TV Station owns the National Hurricane Center?

They've already announced parks are closed today. I wouldn't count on it. CMs will probably be in them at the earliest "all clear" but then they'll need the entire day to prep them for Saturday opening.
Hurricane preparedness cast have been staying in the parks and Disney Springs throughout, with the aim of monitoring and dealing with issues as they arise. This leads to a very rapid recovery, and they are hoping to get something open on Friday.

How many have you lived through?
My heart breaks for Haiti, and for all the Caribbean that was battered and devastated by the storm.
My heart is full of JOY that Florida was spared.

The 2 are not mutually exclusive.
I do not feel at all ashamed that I am happy that my friends, family, and fellow countrymen are safe.
If you don't understand how those 2 thoughts can exist at the same time, then yes, that's unbelievable.
But your last sentence pretty much showed your true feelings.

Perhaps they'll open MK for the MNSSHP then?

Better to err on the side of caution than not and risk lives. They did the right thing, and thankfully it turned out to be less than what was expected or potential. These things change by the hour and are difficult to predict, even with millions of expensive computers, however lives have been saved and that's what counts. Consider that the people in Haiti didn't have the same luxuries as we did, and hundreds died because of it.

Does this imply that the Orange County Curfew may be lifted as well?

Hey, maybe you all woke up looking to argue via the internet.

I woke up extremely happy that Matthew decided to show a little love for Florida.. or at least avoidance towards it..
So carry on with your negativity, I'm still over here celebrating the fact that we didn't wake up to a full on major hurricane hitting us :)

This is the kind of foolishness that can cost lives. I don't know your specific situation, but assuming your safe doesn't mean you get to wear an "I survived a Category 4 storm" badge. You didn't. Best case, you dodged a bullet and you should be grateful for that. The point of all the hype, and yes, the media stirs it up big time, is to warn people about what could happen. If Matthew had shifted further west overnight, you might very well have found yourself in a situation where you'd be calling 911 instead of using your precious data to post snarky comments.

The point being, if officials wait until there is more certainty in the forecast, it's too late, and people pay for it with their lives. You don't just evacuate millions of people in 6 hours. I suggest you count your blessings rather than dump on the government/media for crying wolf.

Matt Drudge takes the prize for accusing the government of exaggerating the threat. In a tweet, he actually accused the National Hurricane Center of making up the numbers in order to support the government's position on global warming. I don't wish ill on anyone, but I'm going to make an exception and this guy I'd like to see tied to a pillar of the pier at any Florida east coast beach as a Category 5 storm passes by. What I thought when I read his post was not printable....

I doubt this since they spent the last 24 hours handling all of the refunds and changes. Probably be more frustrating to reverse this. Also - for a party, you need a lot of specific Cast to be there to make it work. It would be easier to open a park since a ton of people are trained to operate a ride.

NOAA is the only sane voice of reason that doesn't treat you like you are in 3rd grade. Seriously, what do images like this one do except attempt to pump up the public polls of an elected official?

Wow. Let me tell you something, I don't care which side of the "fence" that you are on, but when tragedy strikes, and you are cut off from so much...it is good to hear your governor speak. It's comforting, and more so, it's necessary.

You know what's funny?
Yeah, if it had shifted 15 miles West instead of East around 2am, we would have been talking about widespread devastation

exactly...very lucky for many that it shifted when it did. Made a huge difference! And we do not even know yet how bad the storm surge could be near that Florida/Georgia border...its still a Cat 3 at the moment...while many were spared, many are not out of the woods quite yet...
