Hurricane Matthew

Yes they do, we had that woman earlier in the thread whining about only being moved to the All Stars from Wilderness Campground instead of the GFla.

Agreed with the rest, but just to clarify - because I don't think she was really out of line:

1) They had a cabin, which is pricier than just a campsite

2) She was willing to pay the difference to stay at a different resort (just no availability)

3) I think she was just expressing her disappointment, she has come back several times and said to the effect of "hey we still are at Disney so yay".

Just don't want her lumped in with what are sure to be horror stories of really out of line crazy guests.

I think you put it well - yes people need some personal responsibility, but so does Disney have a responsibility as the owner of the resort - but in both cases, people who really do act crappy to others when everyone is in the same boat (CM or guest) are the ones that you want to put outside in the rain...

officials wanted everyone sheltered in place by 6pm. A cerfew went into effect at 10pm.

This is a major weather event.

It's just getting stated. Wait until it's over before declaring people over reacted.

Given that a Cat4 storm with 130mph sustained winds was forecast to make landfall - or come damn near close - I haven't seen anyone overreact. Ive seen a lot of dumb people doing dumb things. Storm shifts 15 miles the other way and its absolute devastation.

300+ people dead in Haiti with this storm, she can suck it up and be happy with the steel and concrete around her instead of the manufactured home material of the "cabins."

Right, but others are saying Orange Co. over reacted.

The jury is still out on that one. I'm pretty sure Orlando is going to get hammered.

The mainstream press has picked up that the parks are closed tomorrow. But I think it got lost a few pages back where @wdwmagic posted that they hope to have at least one park open tomorrow night.

My guess is, unless something drastically changes now, that by tomorrow it's going to just be a matter of staffing more than anything else how much actually ends up opening up.

Here, here.

We left yesterday. We were staying at Coranado Springs. No way I was staying at a resort where I'd have to walk between 5 to 10 minutes in pouring rain and wind gusts to get to the front desk.

When you are traveling with kids, moving from a cabin with a full kitchen and mini living area to a small room isn't ideal if you're willing to pay to upgrade. It's mostly frustrating.

For the record - I've built an entire neighborhood of houses in La Hatte, Haiti - block houses. (Well, actually, Hatians built the houses, I just provided the funds) I love Haiti and am heartbroken for them to have to face yet another disaster. .
ETA - I say that so I don't get blasted for wanting to stay in a deluxe resort while Haiti is suffering.

I don't think anyone over reacted. Well, not totally accurate.. Obviously it wasn't going to hit the entire "warning" area.. But I think the state needed to act in the exact way that they did.

FPL has been doing a TREMENDOUS job.
Gas stations had fuel. Stores has groceries.
This was a different preparation than I've ever seen before.
It's better to be safe then sorry!

I agree. Common sense says its a hurricane coming. If i was restricted to the food court i would have purchased food and drink for the next 24 hours. If i had transportation, there are numerous of stores they could have went to.
If I knew I would be at WDW with a hurricane approaching, I would have packed some food in my suitcases. PopTarts, Crystal Light singles, and Starfish tuna/cracker pouches are awesome.
