Hurricane Matthew

Exactly. The same for every other hurricane in Florida. People on an hourly wage didn't get paid because their workplace was closed.
No no people get a number of PTO "sick days" if you will. CMS are having to use their PTO days because of the hurricane. Im not saying CMs should necessarily get paid for days the park is closed, but they shouldn't be reprimanded for something they can't control.

Really though? I think all of us Americans know what a Tsunami is.. Without ever experiencing one.

Yes. Again, what you are saying is utterly ridiculous.

Always gotta be a victim mentality somewhere though..

I said international guests. Yes, Americans know what a tsunami is, because we get them. But for some guests, this may be their first foreign trip. And not everyone has a basic comprehension of English. So I will give them a pass.

Information was disseminated much differently in 2004. Things ran pretty smoothly. Guests were kept in the loop, Disney was very open about everything they were doing.

The $12.99 boxed lunch (buy before you see) seems new to me. I know the QSR place at WL ran out of damn near everything during Frances but it was still open.

Things seem a bit less organized this time around.
I'm sure there has been a change of staff, and it sounds like they've gotten lax in their preparedness, training and planning.
Hopefully all goes well, but so far, even from a distance, they don't sound like they're handling it with the same level of efficiency they did in the past.

Of interest..... Here's Video from Atlantis on Nassau-Paradise Island....

This didn't happen at the The Atlantis. It happened at some other hotel called RUI Palace Paradise Island -- it's the first time I have ever heard of this hotel.

Anyway, there was a couple from Maryland staying in that room on their honeymoon -- when the wall came peeling down and they caught it all on video. How terrifying!

They are okay -- but they left their four year old daughter at home and are desperately trying to get back to her safely here in the US. The Bahamas airport is closed indefinitely.

Unlike the US, in the Bahamas they voluntarily shut off all power on the island once the winds exceed 40 miles -- not sure why though.

Do you guys think Disney would give me a full refund for my two week stay if I was meant to arrive on Saturday ? My family and I are coming all the way from France and we're not sure we want to leave our beautiful weather behind us to come to a devastated area and risky area ...

We might not be able to get a refund for the plane tickets unless our flight gets cancelled but getting our Disney money back would be good enough.
