Hurricane Irma

Southernmost point and many others were up this morning but seem to be down now. Too much traffic maybe? I haven't spotted a backup. I can only get the ones on youtube to work:
Duval here.
Sloppy Joe's here.
Mallory Square one & two.
Front St (roof of Two Friends) here.
Southernmost at the Beach resort: pool one & two, and deck. The deck is already getting hit.
The Marker, including port views here.
Sunrise Suites Resort airport view here.
Marathon here.

That's what I've found on youtube. Others may have reached their hosting limits.

In other news, Bioreconstruct has a lot of updates on Twitter about the hurricane prep at both WDW and Universal. I was not expecting the helicopter shots this weekend!

And TheTimTracker posted a hurricane prep at WDW video here.

OMG!!! LOOK!!!

I am an adrenaline junkie and have done some pretty dangerous stuff in my time. But this is just insane.

Have you seen any views on Schooner's Warf or even west of Mallory Square? I'm extremely curious about the boat graveyard near Christmas Tree Island.. so many people live on boats out there. Most of the boats don't run, some do run fine, but the owners don't want to pay for dock space so they kayak to KW. I just can't imagine that those were all moved.
What I've posted is what I've seen. There are some amateur live feeds of the Miami area on YT as well, so you could try looking for something like that. A quick google gave me this but it takes forever to load and it doesn't have much of a view. Southernmost Point is still unavailable for me, so I'll have to rely on others for idiot shots.

Not so much, at least for me.

Yep, directly from American Airlines. I'm checking other airlines at the moment to see if there are any leaving, and at the moment, Frontier still has one leaving Tuesday night. All others have been cancelled.

Now, Southwest says that all of their flights are still going, but they're all sold out, so I don't know if that means they're cancelled or not.

I'm booked for the 1:40 AA flight out of Philadelphia. No cancellations here yet

A major hurricane is about to hit the Keys for the first time in many years. I think the discussion has been focused more on that because the storm isn't near Orlando yet.

Once it passes thru the South, and makes her way up the coast, then I'm sure the discussion will focus on WDW.
Florida is more than Disney, and Florida tourism is a lot more than just Disney World.

The Keys are home to the only living coral reef on our continent, and one of the most popular dive sites in the world. There is so much history, marine, and wildlife in that part of the country.. and people who make their living from small businesses surrounding those things and serving tourists, not huge corporations focused on tourism.

I know this is a Disney site, and I wish the best for WDW, but I think/hope it should/would be ok to acknowledge the seriousness of this storm in places other than Orlando.

I love the discussion of Irma's impact all over the state & beyond.
And as I said, the pics from the webcams are great.

I think @worldfanatic was referring to webcam discussion, the chat on the youtube page.

Oh, really? Is it for Tuesday? If so, it says on their website that every flight from AA was cancelled.
I wound up finding a flight on Frontier out of Trenton that leaves at 12pm, it's the only one going down that day. It said that flights to Orlando from most airlines on would be limited on Tuesday and that everything should be back to full function on Wednesday.

Leon County is now under a voluntary evacuation. We've got people here who've evacuated from South Florida - don't know where they would go. Hotel rooms are just not there, unless you go NW into Alabama. Lines at gas stations in my area are long, but I live near I-10; not much traffic on that road.

FSU had announced it will be closed through Friday.

Saw a FEMA trailer parked at the hotel near my house. Glad to see a presence from them.

Estimated 4 million will be without power - must be FPL customers in South Florida.

really? It will be rainy and windy in Warner Robins. That is really weird all businesses would just shut down for that. It's not going to be a violent hurricane up there.

It wont be a violent hurricane at all. Gov Deal included us in the State of Emergency which caused the schools to close. We have been told here to expect widespread power outages, heavy rain, and lots of wind. Houston County EMA has told us to stay off the roads on Monday.

5:00 PM Update:

Still at 125 mph. Tornado warnings in both Broward and Collier Counties. Expected to come in to Florida as Cat 4.

There's an upper level wind sheer that may help disrupt the storm, but not before it makes landfall. But maybe before it reaches North Florida.
