Hugglefest

So this morning I decide to take on the leaky chainsaw. Early I rise and after checking the fluid levels, then checking the CHAINSAW's fluid levels, I begin the dance known as "cranking the chainsaw." One exhausted arm later, I call a friend known for his ability to make things work and he suggests I bring it over. An hour later, we have checked the air filter, cleaned crud, replaced the spark plug and finally it cranks (with its top off). Then stops. Another 20 minutes of huffing and puffing and it is up and going (with its top off). The blade is fouled and cuts in a curved arc so that one cannot cut through a tree of any size. And, if the top is replaced on the unit (as it should be), it won't crank at all.

The fallen trees in my back yard are safe for another weekend. **Oooooh, look - college football.**

(A second kind friend has offered to help me find a replacement chainsaw, but not today.)

This seemed like a random enough thread to post in... :D

For geography, we have to do a PowerPoint presentation. Now, I only learned how to use PowerPoint about 2 days ago (it's very easy, by the way). We don't have to work on it at home, but I'm showing some initiative ( ) and I'll save the file to a disk.

Anyways, it's on Canada's physical geography (Canadian Shield, Western Cordillera, etc.). I don't know what it was, but something clicked in my mind the minute I started brainstorming.

"I could have the Soarin' music playing in the background!" I have a whole cavalcade of slides, matching the theme of the current music playing (I've always thought of California as being a summary of Canada, anyway  ) For example, the first part of the piece involves the Canadian Shield, and the "Disneyland" portion of the music (with the chime things...) to be the annual fireworks on the Detroit River.

Wish me luck!

Do you eat turkey today? huggles

Nope. I should be eating it tomorrow (Thanksgiving Sunday... the only main difference between Canadian and American Thanksgivings is a month), but I'll be at Cedar Point. :sohappy:

"The Slicing of the Chicken Fingers"

aren't you 2 days early?

Just wanted to mention it, in case I miss it tomorrow

*Really, though, I could say it's Thanksgiving for 3 days. That would mean 3 days of Thanksgiving dinner! :slurp:

PowerPoint? Princess #2 learned how to do that before second grade. She makes PP presentations with "why I should have..." or "what I want for my birthday".

Good Luck! And remember no more than 3 points per cell.

My mom made gallopinto (red beans and rice) and I want to eat it since it's soft. But ugh I'll see...

Well if you can't manage it, please send me your portion. Thank you. :D

Feeling any better?

Have you had gallo pinto? It's not that good when it's "store bought" or maybe I'm just used to my grandma and my mom's cooking. My mom usually makes it when there's leftover rice and beans and sometimes (like today) from leftover "meat" food from the week which was shredded beef and baby corn. She mixes all this stuff up and it's so good. The Cuban equivalent is congris (con-gree) and theirs is with black beans. I LOVE that too.

Anyway, I think I can manage it. My dad brought pizza and I ate the tip of it and it was manageable. I'm feeling better and am starting to get some feeling in my lip and chin. The left side of my lip and chin I can feel more  My poor brother is the one that has the swollen cheeks so he looks like Josh Beckett  I guess because I've had ice on most of the time.

I've had the Cuban equivalent and something similar that is Columbian.

Good Luck!

My grade school had all the strictness of sticking to curriculum, without actually teaching it.

Thanks for the support! So far, I have 13 slides done. I've timed out which buttons to click, when. Here are my categories, so far:

Introduction/ "Proudly Presents" (3 slides)

Canadian Shield (7 slides)

Western Cordillera (10 slides)

Arctic and Hudson Bay Lowlands (3 slides)

Innuitian Mountains (5 slides)

Interior Plains (8 slides)

Intermission/ "And Now For Something Completely Different" (2 slides)

Appalachians (8 slides)

Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Lowlands (8 slides)

There you have it; 54 slides and 4:40 devoted to the most beautiful country on the planet. :D

If it has words like "thanks" and "giving" in it, chances are it's a Canadian holiday.
