Oh no! *huggles*

Where do you work? If it's seniority, maybe it's the oldest who are laid off. Hey, that's how it works in pro sports. There's hope.

**pats Vince on the head** Is this how it works under the sea?

Maybe I can be the new princess.

Good luck to you.

I just found out 1/3 of the people working in my department will be layed off. I just got the job about 3 months ago and was told that the layoffs are based on seniority. I'm really bummed right now :( .
Huggles to you. Been there, done that, was ticked off in the extreme. Ended up with a better job :D

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Thanks everyone!

It went pretty well.

The Good things:

-Strong understanding of traffic issues in general.
-Familiarity with traffic software.
-Very conscientious.
-Takes initiative on important activities.

Eh... things that need work or improvement:

-Strengthen interpersonal relationships in office.
-Strengthen business-like presentation (I was scolded for putting my feet up on my desk  )
-Increase willingness to listen to instructions and input.

Final thoughts and recommendations:

-Develop leadership skills. Take on potential added responsibility in operations center.

So it was not bad at all... we covered a LOT of ground.. and I think we both got some things off our chest.

:)

After years of managing a very large staff (which I thankfully no longer do) I have come to the conclusion that the biggest problems with employees can be summed up in 3 points.

1. Punctuality......show up on time, how hard is that (plan ahead for traffic....)
2. Professionalism....this is work, not a social hour, not happy-fun play time, you are being paid to be here.
3. Responsibility....I have worked for companies that did not empower employees to do anything above the norm, and I have worked for companies that did empower associates to do anything they could to please the customer...What I have found is that employees without the power claim they want it, and employees with the power don't care to use it.

Also, it used to upset me so much when an associate or supervisor would come to me and complain that I was not developing them. What the crap?!! I am not developing them, THEY are not developing themselves. (If you are not willing to take the step to grow your career, dont expect others to take it for you).

This all being said, I went from managing a staff of 150+ associates and supervisors to now managing a few managers, which I really don't need to manage at all. :D (and I make twice as much......I am having my cake and eating it too)

I gotta say... I have no problems with the above 3 items...

1) I am Always early.

2) When working in broadcast / or at a software developing company (one in the same for me right now)... the environment is a bit different from the norm... its a bit more laid back and that is encouraged a bit. Pffffft I see folks all around this place with there feet up on there desks.... (But I did not bring that up in the meeting of course  ).

and 3) Hmmm I'm still pondering that one. :)

Oh no! *huggles* What are the chances that the 1/3 were hired after you?

I was told it's official, I will no longer be working for the company. There has been some speculation for some time that this will happen, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking this is just a rumor. I was actually one of the last people hired.

I'm working for a children's clothing design company and entered as an intern. After my internship, I was hired full time and love working here.

Huggles to you. Been there, done that, was ticked off in the extreme. Ended up with a better job

I feel more sad then mad. I've been going to school and working nonstop and I see this as an opportunity to take a vacation. Hopefully, I'll find something better. I'll keep my eyes and ears open. :)

Thanks, speck :) .

Seriously, I'm looking forward to some time off. Have been thinking about going to Florida and Puerto Rico to visit family. Maybe this is a good time to do it.

Awwww, I'm sorry!!! *huggles* That's a really saddening situation - to know that it's no fault of your own, and that there really wasn't anything yoou coulud do to improve your chances. Keep your eyes open, though - hopefully you'll find a great job!!
