TGIF Huggles to all. The following is an e-mail I received and does not necessarily represent the views of the undersignee or of this station. Please read with an open mind and a chuckle or two. I know I post too many of these, but they do lighten up some things. . .

Huggles to me!

As of today, I am officially smoke-free. I have finished the 10 week Nicoderm CQ patch program, and, besides being a little heavier :lookaroun , I feel great!

*Huggles to You*

Congratulations on your achievement. when I was a practicing respiratory therapist, I loved when my patients finally made the jump, some successful, others not so successful, to nonsmoking. Stay strong, each day you feel even better. :sohappy:

Are you into huggleing now?

*HUGGLES*

I'm glad you did this, you can get rid of the weight, but the lung damage is only reversible to a point. Glad you're feeling great...now about that money you have been saving by not buying cancer sticks, don't spend it all in one place.

You were a Respiratory Therapist? Why did you leave?

(be glad you didn't have to sit with the respirators all night...)

Odd thing is I'm not going through any Disney withdrawal. I'm actually still very happy. I didn't know why for a while but now I think I finally understand. I've learned how quickly "now" becomes a memory. You wait for something and it finally comes. You enjoy it while it's here but then it's soon gone and becomes just a memory. Like you go to Disney, have the time of your life, and then it's over. And when it's done, people usually just think about coming back and the next trip. But what about the trip that just happened. Is it just "Wow, I had a great time. Can't wait for the next one" ? If you treat it like that, what's ever the point then? The next one will come and then become another memory. And it becomes just an ongoing cycle of a quick happiness and a long withdrawal. But now I've learned not to keep looking at the next trip but to still look back at the last one. I left Disneyland still loving it and treasuring everything I did there. I'm not looking at the next Disney trip yet. I'm not craving to go back just yet. I'm still in love with the trip I just had. And I think that's why I'm happy. :)

I always wanted to be a teacher. But when I graduated from HS, there were no jobs in teaching. (Early '80s)

RT became a stepping stone. I learned a lot and burned out after 15 years. RT can be challenging, back in 1987, when I took the National Registry Exam, I was the only Person in my class at HVCC to pass the first time, however, day to day life in the hospital had its ups and downs. RT is also not very family friendly. I worked the night shift, and when I wasn't at the hospital, I was on call.

I decided to go back to school for education when I became a code junky. When I worked with another therapist, I would take the code beeper. That was the exciting work. When I realized that I was thriving on trauma or a cardiac arrest, I knew it was time to get out.

By the way, I had to "bag" patients several times due to massive blackouts, and back-up generator problems.

I have a friend who is an RT...35 years at the same hospital on the night shift. (but I think VietNam screwed him up anyway). I burned out from nursing after 10 years. Like my new job better. :D

My DH did nights for 15 years & is 3 years on days now...much better.

(ps...I hate bagging.)

Woo hooo! Well done mate!

Nothing personal, but no nekkid huggles from me. You will have to make do with a good manly handshake - bare skin palm to palm is all you'll get out of me.

You've got cooties!!! EWWWWWWW!!!!!!!

And tomorrow, we all get to go in and scrub the cooties out of the room.

Actually, my lead called me a little while ago to tell me to bring a change of clothes to work tomorrow, and she said they think they're bird mites, cause we found a dead bird just outside that room the other day. Still gross. :p
