How WDW Co. spins ...

I didn't ignore it.. I pointed it out where I said "what is a significantly reduced version of the park experience for the guise of 'lower crowds'"

Strip a Magic Kingdom down.. and you won't find it will hold your interest as long. The novelty of the 'empty park' wears off relatively quickly and is replaced by frustrations like having to walk so far to get to the next thing.. (because everything is closed between point A and B and nothing to entertain you or draw you in).. or being hungry (and everything is closed).. or finding attractions that are over in 5mins rather short because you ran out of things to do (because you are churning through rides so fast, and there is nothing else to soak up time).

Just think about how people say "if you only have ever used FP, you missed out on alot the attraction offers in the queue, etc" - Now amplify that and apply it to the entire park. Look at how bothered people are when they goto DAK and say "we were done by mid day and had nothing left to do..." - re-riding Disney attractions over and over generally isn't that fun.. and that's why at DAK they don't, even tho they could in that half day.

I'm sure plenty of people will jump into this.. and if its their replacement for visiting the park normally.. I feel sorry for them. I look forward to this experiment going away quickly.

Sadly tho, the reside of it will live with us forever as Disney continues to build upon the idea that people will pay for that elevated access and will continue to expand and exploit that ****.

Its as if the idea of "even tho you COULD do something, doesn't mean you SHOULDN'T"has been completely lost.

The idea that Disney could have charged anything they want to have people stay in the castle, etc.. or be part of the show.. and for decades they said NO. It wasn't because they COULDN'T do it... its because they knew they SHOULDN'T do it.
Oh god. That's next. Selling the Castle Suite.

Sorry to single your post out, you are right, you didn't in fact ignore it.

And like you, It's also not for me. It's for the type of guest who's only goal is to ride and reride as many attractions as possible (yikes!) And with a possible cap at 3,000, they will likely find plenty of people that fit into that category. Maybe a 15-year-old version of me back at Cedar Point would have been all over that.

Lots of folks are only pointing out the drawbacks, and ignoring the fact that it's essentially a walk on ride party. And even after Mr. Spirit again clarified that it's not just a couple of hours of park time, many are still missing the point that you can enter at 7 p.m. and catch a few hours of a bustling park and nighttime entertainment.

And if it turns out to be a dud, they will just abandon it. Like the EPCOT after hours offering.

That's probably the best summation of it. I'm not bothered by the idea itself... more so bothered by what the party is willing to sacrifice for the quick dollar and the increased trajectory the company is taking with this path.

It's like the guy whose house is falling down around them, yet still goes to vegas to 'win big'. Disney's priorities no longer align with my interpretation of what they should be to create the kind of product and atmosphere I feel in love with and admired as a professional.

The Concert equivalent would something like:

You paid 200 USD for the 3 hour retail concert.
The "Extra magic hours" would be something like: an "opportunity" to have a 20 minute(max of 30) of "extra time for 2-3 songs" after the main concert is finished. Also have the "amazing offer" of free coke. The downhill? The bathrooms, the fireworks, the food and most of the dancers are already closed, gone or out of the stadium.

Why settle for paying regular prices for a concert when you can show that you are a HIGH END EARNER and pay an inflated price just to catch the encore....

i think we're making more out of a reactive FAQ handout to cast members on the Hub than it really is. They have these with almost every advisory posted on the Hub. It's just a set of standard questions and Disney approved answers the cast members can quickly give guests. They have these for refurbishments, new attraction openings, closings, etc.

Remember when Walt Disney World actually felt special and they didn't seem to be looking for every conceivable way to grab at your wallet?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Is Disney After Hours replacing Extra Magic Hours / Is Extra Magic Hours going away?
No. Extra Magic Hours will continue, while Disney After Hours provides another option for Guests wanting to enjoy more magic in less time at Magic Kingdom Park.
Reminds me of this.

It made through the moderation and was posted. Once it's posted I think its good to stay. It's still there, I just checked.

On the Disney Blog a few years back there was some Mom's panel or post and it mentioned something about how everything should be done for the children because they are our future.

I posted a comment:
"The children are our future... ...unless we stop them now."

That post did not make the cut.
