Pre-Trip How to celebrate a proper 20/40 in just 18 months...

Hello again…It seems only fitting that we invite you all along again since you were there for the first five surf n turf adventures. This time should be slightly more epic. I’ve been going back and forth about even doing a TR for this trip. After a few of these things you can start getting burned out and wonder if there is even value in it. I ebb and flow on it depending on the day and have even been putting this off for a while. I think I’ll go back to a traditional TR(not live) and see how that goes. Let us get some business out of the way first for those not in the know.

The who, Me and @imahistorygeek :

What: The 20/40 Surf n Turf trip of funtivities to celebrate things and stuff

When: May 3-13

Where: A Caribbean Fantasy sammy on Poly bread!

Why: Well, we’re kind of killing two birds with this endeavor. This year we each hit an individual milestone as well as a shared milestone, I’ll let you Nancy Drew that. Let’s just say one of us hits one milestone before the other by a few months and I may like to brag about it at times ;):D

We are just 11 days out and still have a ton of packing to do, if you followed our April trip this should be no surprise. So far we have received more Christmas garland links as well as our cruise documentation.

As someone about to hit one of those milestones myself in October, let me just say ugh. Not looking forward to it...so a cruise is the perfect medicine! Congrats on the other milestone...we are only at 5 this year.

We wanted to try a different ship than the Dream for our next trip, but just couldn't swing the cost...those 3 and 4 nights on the Dream are much easier to swallow. So looking forward to your report on the Fantasy!

Y’all, we are finally gold! This means we’re thisclose to platinum.

I’d really like to be platinum by the time the new ships are ready. I’d like a shot at a maiden voyage cruise.

We’ve been planning the big 20/40 for almost two years and I can’t believe it’s just around the corner. We wanted a trip where we don’t work. We both teach part time in addition to our regular jobs, so we work on pretty much ever vacation, except Christmas. For this trip, teaching is finished, so there will be no working on the cruise!

I think we’re pretty much set, but’s still have a few things to take care of. We have our fancy clothes ready. We’re still working on the alcohol. We’re bringing at least one bottle of wine (Apothic Inferno) and some other wine. 😉 We will probably bring beer as well.

As y’all know, flying has been a fear of mine and one I’m working hard to overcome. Well, I’m sure you’ve all seen the news. I had a minor setback, but I’m trying to move past it. Our flight is on Southwest. We’ve always had great experiences with Southwest and I expect no less from this trip.

I usually post all my pictures on instagram, and will try to do so on this trip as well. Of course, it’s all dependent on what type of service we have. You can find me with the same username.

The cost of a Disney cruise is no joke. I’ve actually looked at other cruise lines, but keep coming back to Disney. We booked this cruise opening day using a place holder we booked on another cruise. We’re really excited to sail the Fantasy.

Im with ya on this which is why we booked this so long ago, opening day discounts make it more palatable! Im also a bit leery about how i will feel on a 7-nighter. We’ve only ever done 3-nighters and ive been fine with that.

This means we’re thisclose to platinum.
Girl...keep dreaming!

I'm following along. Can someone explain what the milestones are?
Oh, I bet you can figure this one out. It has nothing to do with Disney.

So excited for you both and your upcoming trip!! Phil and I were on the Fantasy in late January and we LOVED it!! Best adults area (The Tube) of all the ships in our opinion - so fun, and great theming. Hope you see Andrae from Jamaica at the La Piazza bar! He is seriously the best!

7 nights was great - change up of the menus in the restaurants, even more time to get to know the crew, and lots of relaxation! Happy hour at Currents had live music almost every night, and a great view at each port. Wonderful spot to relax for a little before getting ready for dinner.

Happy “Milestones” to you each individually and together, and have a fantastic time celebrating them! If you love the Fantasy you should join us on the 8 night next June!!

Congrats to both of you!!! :)

Oooh please do a TR! I'm on the Fantasy in October and I am so ready for it! We also used a placeholder and booked opening day for silver. Even with that, it's still expensive! I was tempted to book the 5 night CC double dip next June on the Dream and it costs more than my cruise in Oct! It's just keeps getting crazy expensive!

Laura - the recent Southwest news also makes me nervous. I like flying, but the thought of bad things happening is always in the back of my mind and it makes me crazy. I have to give myself a silent pep talk and i'm usually fine. At least it's a quick flight!

Yes, they are always in the back of my mind as well. I always tell myself the plane is solid (I touch the outside before I walk in) and the pilots want to get us safely to our destinations. They want to arrive safely just as much as we do.

I really like the Apothic Red blend. I haven't tried Inferno yet...

Inferno is usually a limited release and not available all year. If you see one, I'd suggest trying it. We recently tried Apothic's new, limited-release cold brew coffee blend. It's good, but not worth the price tag. I can't remember what we paid, but it was somewhere between $12-$15. Apothic in our area usually runs about $9-$10. The Apothic Dark is my favorite we can get year round.

Thank you! I probably will end up knocking one out.
Looking forward to whatever TR you decide to do! Yay for not having to work on a vacation! And congrats on the milestones!

Thank you! Inferno is Apothic Red aged in Whiskey barrels for 60 days! Its sooooo good.
Some of us need trip reports to live vicariously through you since we haven't been on a cruise ;)
Congratulations on all your milestones, definitely reason to celebrate!

Congrats and happy birthday to you guys!!

I'm going to have to hunt down the Apothic Inferno because I love Apothic Dark too. There are quite a few good red blends out now. :hungry::inlove:
Thanks! Inferno is Red aged in Whiskey barrels for 60 days and is typically available in the Fall. We still have three bottles in our wine cellar, i.e. our kitchen closet...
