Hi everyone! I will be returning to disney in 2 weeks. As of right now, plane tix, housing and car rental is paid in full. We will be visiting Animal Kingdom, Magic kingdom, MGM and typhoon lagoon and be in florida for an additional 2 days. After the park tickets, i will have about $1,300.00 for food and spending money.

Did i over save? I am figuring $200 for food for two and $1000 spending. But i have a feeling thats way more than i actually need.

Thanks!

How many are in your party?

For quick service dining only (3 meals per day) you are looking at $40-$50 per person, per day. Add at least $20 per person, per day, for every table service meal you add.

Souvenirs are completely up to you. T-shirts run about $20-$25 a piece but you could easily go into the art of Disney and drop $5000 on a single item.

If you're planning on doing any fine dining while you're there, I'd actually plan to save a little more. We have a family of 4 and I plan on taking no less than $3000 for our food/souveniers. I figure it's a vacation, so you want to be able to relax and not have to worry about penching pennies. :) It's always better to have too much than not enough!

just 4 of us, all adults. No "fine" dining, unless you consider bubba gump shrimp and planet hollywood fine dining lol. I am paying for one person besides myself. On top of that, we are staying at a friends timeshare with a full out kitchen. We plan on stopping at a market and getting breakfast foods and dinners

If you and 1 other person ate just one counter service each day you'd spend $25-$35 each of those days. That doesn't include snacks or sodas or bottled water. I'm not sure how many days you're going to be there so it's impossible to tell for sure if your budget numbers work out.

well we actually are using passes we had left over from last time. These cards were given to us and they were the passes prior to finger printing and they do not expire. plus the two days we are not at disney will be spent at daytona and the titanic exhibit.

But thanks for the tips. The only thing i am really spending on the other person will be food, she has her own spending cash. But i will set aside $50-60 a day for food, even though i probably wont use that much.

As far as souvenirs go, i kinda already know what i want from this, just a couple of shirts, a photo album and something from daytona. I just saved that much as a just in case type thing.

on a side note, how do i get a engagement ring past TSA without me having to pull it out? I am going to put it in the same bag as my laptop, i know i have to pull the laptop out, but does everything in that bag need to come out?

You might want to pose this question in the "Weddings section" but I'll say, as a woman who flys frequently with my jewelry, I've never been asked to take any of my jewelry out of my bag.

I flew into MCO with my kiddos today. When I got to security at my departure airport, I pulled out my laptop and left my cords, earphones, boarding passes, etc. in my laptop bag. Unless there is a real jerk working for TSA that day and they are bent on ruining your surprise, I can't see why a ring in a laptop case would be any cause for alarm - or inspection.

Good luck! :sohappy:

Yay congrats!! Your story just got a whole lot more interesting!! I agree with the above poster. My husband always flys with his laptop and never had to take anything out except his laptop. Good luck! You better post a trip report!

We usually figure $100 a day per adult too. The kids get $50! We usually do not spend that a day but we will have one fine dinning and if the kids want something we dont have to think twice about it.
