How much are they altering the Country Bear Jamboree?

Surely you aren't trying to defend either of those rides. They may be old traditional attractions, but the animatronics make the ones at Chuck e Cheese look good.

Definitely defending them, yes. One thing I noticed is that the Bears looked cleaner, a little more spruced up and such, etc. That isn't the reason the show is good, the show is what it is because of its charm and uniqueness. Nothing else is like them. Carousel of Progress was right there with Hall of Presidents as being my son's favorite attraction at Magic Kingdom and he's 12.

Have him ride it when he's 16 and see what he thinks. Those are rides that little kids fall for but when they get old enough to see how crappy the animatronics are they quickly move them to the group of attractions to skip.

IMO those rides are what made Disney what it is. IMO these new attractions just don't cut it. The Animatronic heavy shows and rides are what seperated Disney from the others.

I saw CoP and others when I was 10 for the first time. Loved them. Three decades later still do. All of our kids loved the shows at Magic Kingdom. There is a charm in those shows you don't see anywhere else, especially today, on TV or movies or whatever. This is why they age well and people still love seeing them. If you don't, then so be it, you are free to skip it. But there is a reason the attractions through the mind of Walt are still popular.

Thank god they're changing it. Outdated and needing a refresh, The Country Bear Jamboree needs re-imagined for future generations. I say add contemporary country and pop tunes; and modernize the bears to get rid of the hick accents and rural stereotypes.
The accents and rural stereotypes still exist in many areas of the South. Maybe you need to explore the USA a bit more and experience the amazing variety of culture that exists.

I was there a week ago. The theatre was full for our show. Right to the brim. Here is the problem with modern Disney and modern Disney fanboys, the CBJ is a very small space. It doesn't take up much room at all. There are gift shops and definitely restaurants in MK as big as it. So why get rid of a show that actually fits the theme of Frontierland that takes up no room? It doesn't make sense. And everything in Frontierland is not "modernized" and that's the point I feel you aren't seeing. It is supposed to be that way. Big Thunder Mountain, Liberty Boats, Tom Sawyer, CBJ, formerly Splash, etc. It is not supposed to feel like 2023 in that part, hence the music loop you hear when you are there.

Your visit was after the announcement in a time many will visit *because* Disney announced a change. It's the effect of "this is my last trip for a while and might be the last time I see this version." For many years CBJ has been something someone could time the next show and then walk up and right into the theater. While that's great for guests that want to see the show, it's not ideal to Disney. Management wants to see guests waiting in line because it pulls folks off walkways. With Bayou Adventure coming Disney needs CBJ to do better and absorb people waiting around for Bayou Adventure (either for own call back times or for others in party riding while some of party doesn’t).

My preference is original music specific for attraction but without that I don't see much difference between Disney and nonDisney source materials. I don't think Disney songs will be more popular but that the decision is ultimately about not paying out licensing or royalties (not sure correct term) to nonDisney people when they can instead pay another Disney subsidiary.

The option was IP or bear brisket. Given the choice between never seeing the Country Bears again or having them sing Disney songs, my choice will always be Disney songs.
Sad that it has to be that way. The whole point originally was that where the IP of the story, it’s our adventure, our movie and where the characters. Back then on Peter Pans flight you were what ever character you wanted to be and you wouldn’t see the characters on the ride. Heck on Splash Mountain I was Uncle Remus.

Imagine alternating "shows" so one day is new IP Disney songs and next day is old traditional CBJ songs. Probably to tough for them to oven contemplate let alone accomplish.

Well, the bye gone era can up and leave. There's a reason that CBJ fails to draw any type of crowd. It's boring and outdated. Either modernize it and save the ride, or bulldoze it and put up something else.
Hmmmmmm. It’s always crowded when we go there. The lobby waiting area is always packed. I think it’s more popular than The Swiss Family Robinson Tree House. Maybe that’s a better attraction for “Re-thinking”!

I'm sure they'll screw it up even though it probably does need an upgrade.

I have zero confidence in Disney's management to make any decent decision. Simply awful.
They should have learned from their mistakes and oh yeah, we had this..
