How many photos per visit?

In another topic I need extra CF cards and wonder on average how many photographs per day people here take. Everyone is going to be different of course, I'm not after bragging rights but something to help me determine what to take next month.
TIA

It depends for me on my mood.

I've taken 1200 photos in one night at the Adventurers Club, I've taken 30 photos over the course of an entire day at WDW.

But I always prepared with more memory than I could every possibly use.

It all depends. If I go somewhere with the intention of taking pictures I can easily take 4-5 gigs worth of pictures. If I am at the parks to have fun I might only take 20 or 30 shots. Most memory cards, especially SD cards, are so cheep now there is little to no reason not to be able to have all that you need plus a little extra. For example a 2GB SD card on average costs only $7 now.

I take over 2000 photos in a 10 day trip so I always carry extra cards. I bought an 8 for this trip but I am still taking a few 2's and a 4 just in case. Wal-mart has their's on sale right now btw.

We were recently there for 8 days and took around 4000 photos. We went a little overboard because it was our first trip with DSLR's (and not all 4000 ended up being keepers, of course!). Another consideration would be whether you're shooting RAW, JPG, or a combination of both. Err on the side of caution if you can, memory is pretty cheap.

I think, for a six day trip, I usally average about 250-300 shots.

There is a tendency not to take more shots of the same things from the last trip.

Letsee.

Sunday-Tuesday? 3253.

That does include two short time-lapse sequences to edit which is 565 frames.

So 2700-ish? That includes Drinking Around the World (x3), Move it, Shake it, Celebrate it (x3) Illluminations (x2) Safari and countless other s___.

Thanks for all the replies. I think if I get 4x 8GB cards, it'll work out around 2,000 photos. If I save them on to DVD after the first week, it'll be around 4,000. At a pinch I can just use jpg. Hate to do it this way. I'll look for a laptop when I'm there.

Always have more than you think you need because if something crops up that you want a shot of and you already maxed out your total it is nice to have backup.

Currently have:
3x 8GB Extreme III (newer ones when I realized I needed more)
3x 4GB Extreme III (first 3 I bought for the current camera)
1x 2GB Ultra II (hold over from last camera)

I still have filled all of them on recent trips. Thinking of more 8GB, since my 40D doesn't like 16GB cards for some reason.

Also I hope you have the ability to back things up at the hotel room.

How do some of you guys find things to take 2000+ shots of?
Sounds like walking through the parks and resorts with the shutter button held down. LOL.

Between me and the sis' camera we had about 500.. we try not to take pictures of 'stuff' though (i.e. shots without people).. so if you're a picture taker of 'stuff', you'll have likely many more.

It's possible that some people do do that. However, once you start panoramas and maybe some stacking techniques, add some bracketing and exposures soon build up. Then sometimes an action sequence may need high speed continuous shots just to get one good frame. You can also bracket focus exposures now. HTH

Exactly!!!! I don't think I have taken a shot in the past 8 months, except for dark rides, that isn't a bracketed shot. 3 exposures for everything, now if I only had the time to create all the HDRs I have.......
