January is a great time as far as I'm concerned. The weather is about 75 on a average, not much rain, crowds at first maybe busy as kids get ready to go back to school but last half of your vacation crowds are definitely manageable. The only other thing is alot of water rides and water parks are down for refurbs.Ive gone in january 4-5 times now and hope to make it another time about a week or so after you go there.

January is a good time to visit. Weather wise it is obviously cooler than the rest of the year but not so cold as to stop me visiting the water parks (keep in mind that one of the water parks will be down for refurb). I think January also has the lowest rainfall, in 2007 it only rained for about 10 minutes on two seperate occasions. In both cases it was only light rain.

Crowd wise you can expect it to be quiet. The longest I waited was around 20mins for any attraction but many were walk on - even some like Mission Space were only around 5 minutes. Sorin' was obviously a huge wait but a couple of fastpasses sorted that out. Fastpasses were readily availalbe for just about every attraction. One evening we chain rode Expedition Everest by getting a fastpass, riding, getting another fastpass (which was allowed entry approx 10 mins later), and repeat

We were also able to get last minute reservations or walk in to some restaurants (from memory these included 50's Prime Time, California Grill, Rose & Crown and other which I can't remember at the minute). I would still recommend getting ADR's whilst you can though as some places were fully booked.

Downside of January - Splash Mountain is often down for refurb :(

See you there!!! We'll be there the exact same time! :D

Forgive me for being stereotypical here...but we will also be at ESPN Club on the 6th to watch some hockey. My wife and I are Sabres fans and our friends root for Philly (BOOOO!) and the Canes!!

It can be a bit chilly, especially in the evenings and mornings. One of the water parks is usually closed and the only folks in resort pools are Canadians and Northeasterners. Water rides like Kali and Splash are less fun, and Splash usually has the extra water jets turned off.

The weekend you are talking about may be the weekend for the marathon, and if so, some morning transportation will be affected.

I haven't been to WDW in Jan in quite sometime (see signature) but in my opinion is the best time to go.
Crowds--awesome. We did many rides over again without getting off and on line. It was nice to take pics down Main St. without 1,000 other people in the pics. We still made our reservations in advance but it would be much easier to get a walk up. We were also there during marathon times and it did not effect crowd levels. It was most pleasurable.
Weather--did get a bit chilly at night and on one day we were so cold we bought wool hats/gloves. Other than that one day jeans, t-shirts and maybe a hoodie occasionally. A nice am hot chocolate was always yummy on Main St., too. We still swam in the pools, too.
Decorations--one of my favorite parts of being there in Jan is that holiday decorations are still up. They look amazing!! Everywhere on property is decorated so beautifully. Two of the Jan times we were there we got to see all the docorations and then mid-week it all came down so we had it all decked and then normal...was cool.
Hours of Operation--the only real drawback is that the hours are shorter. You can still have EMH, so take advantage of that, but parks end earlier. This led us to Pleasure Island (no more:cry:) and DTD each night. Check refurbs, too, as they tend to be more during this time.

It's a great time to go. I wish I could go back during that time!! :)

They'll put the Oilers on for you...they have the NHL Center Ice package, you just have to ask. Like I said, we've made a night out of going to ESPN CLub to watch hockey on the 6th so come on up! We love meeting other hockey fans...especially Canadians! We met some cool Flames fans ( I know...BOOOOO!) last time we were there. You will not be able to miss us, 2 Sabres, 1 Flyer (BOOOOO!!!) and 1 Hurricane. Adult beverages will be flowing and we will be cheering all night long! (hopefully)

Funny, my DH and I always make a night at ESPN to catch our SHARKS!!! I love this tradition. We usually miss a game or two of our season tickets during the trip, so we have to make up for it by watching them at ESPN!!!

If you got the name wrong on the plane ticket then you had better call the plan company straight away - I don't know how things work for domestic flights in America but I know that many people are stopped from traveling internationally because the name on the ticket does not match the name on the passport!

Yeah...we all watch our teams religiously but we usually try and only go up to ESPN for one game while we are there. Plus we are fans of three different teams so they only happen to be playing at the same time on one night so it works out. Missing games is the worst but being at WDW makes it much better!!! :D

p.s. Thanks for Craig Rivet...love the guy already!!! Enjoy Greer and Curtis Brown!

January is my favorite month to go!!!

Especially after all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, you need a good break !

The weather is PERFECT (you dont even break a sweat its usually in the 70's) but it can get a tad chilly so just bring a light jacket/sweatshirt (or just buy a new one like I do everytime I go lol). I live in Massachusetts so when I go to WDW in January its like an early summer for me!

If I recall correctly, Typhoon Lagoon with be closed for refurbishment.

The crowds are very good. We were there from the weekend of the Marathon to Martin Luther King Weekend and neither of them were unbearable (I would compare it to the "regular season" crowds.)

We will be there the 16th - 24th this time and I cannot wait!!! 3 1/2 months to go woooooo!:sohappy:
