...work?

I'm curious as to how far people have to travel to and from work (or college) every day.

My normal trip to work is about 75 miles each way so I total about 150 miles a day, it can take anywhere from about 1hr 15 up to 4 hours, but on average about 2 hours each way (The joys of working in London!)

Fortunately I get paid travel time and my petrol paid for!

I'm a stay at home mom so I don't travel to work, but we log a lot of miles on the car.
The farthest I have traveled to work is 12 miles, I worked for the County of Orange as a nurse. My last job, working in a book store was only 3 miles away.

SAHM here, also. ;) My son's school is 1.5 miles away, the grocery is 1 mile away, and most other places I need to travel to routinely are less than 4 miles away. When I was still working, I had a 5 min drive.

My husband's office is less than 3 miles away. 5 mins at non-rush hour, 20 mins during! Needless to say, he always leaves the house before 7 and the office after 6. (Actually, those really ARE his hours.) In his previous practice, he was commuting 100 miles roundtrip daily! We still have a waterfront cottage in that town that we purchased so he would have someplace to stay when he was taking call; we would go down and stay with him on his call weekends.

Of course, his longest "commute" was when he was in the Navy and deployed to a carrier in the Middle East.

I will have to remember to see how many miles it is to work, maybe on my way home today.

It takes me 10 minutes to get here. I live really close to work.

I'm just like DMC. 20 miles from door to door. Travel time can vary from 20 to 30 minutes. But unlike Erika, if we have snow it could take 2 hours. Which has occured.
