Hot weather, Hot Clothes, What are you thinking?

This thread goes out to all the people that DO NOT dress appropriately for a day at WDW and have to suffer through it. I feel for ya. Im talking about the flip-flop wearing folks that complain on the bus at the end of the day that their feet were stepped on in line and they have blisters. Or let's not forget those folks dressed all in black from head to toe on a 98 degree 100% humidity day. I'm not talking about those that have to dress this way because of their own personal beliefs. Im talking about those that are so sweaty and miserable and are in the First Aid area suffering from heatstroke and they started the day with a choice to dress appropriately.

Do you point out these people to your party when you are at the World?

What are these people thinking??? :hammer:

Alot of these people probably have never been to the Florida peninsula, and therefore have no idea how hot it can really get.

As far as people wearing flip-flops: "Live and learn"

I kinda wish that the resorts and local hotels would give give out a pamphlet about suggested and proper theme park attire.

This could help a dream vacation from turning into a disaster on the first couple of days....as well as keeping us from having to witness the thongs, etc.!

On every visit I am always shocked at what I see people wearing. Mostly the shoes!! To me, only tennis shoes are appropriate. We don't really bring anything else. Maybe flip flops if we plan to use the pool, but that is it! It also kills me when I see people what I consider " dressed up" for the parks. We are in jeans or shorts and hats!!
To each his own!

Keep in mind that some, maybe even a lot, of those 'flip flop people' are CMs. I wear flip flops on most of my visits. However, I'm usually in a park for 3 hours or less. It's funny, because people ask me in the monorails all the time 'how can you stand wearing flip-flops all day' and they look SHOCKED when I say, "I've only been here for 2 hours". It's kind of fun. :)

I almost always wear flip flops to the parks (and usually stay 14+ hours). I find that they allow my feet to breathe and expand. After walking around for hours and hours, your feet swell. And, if your sneakers or shoes don't have room for them to expand... you're not going to be very comfortable. So, flip flops work for me!!

I am not so concerned with the people that dress inappropriately for the weather. I am much more concerned with the people that just plain dress inappropriately (e.g., revealing tank tops, ill-fitting clothing, beer/tobacco/provacative t-shirt designs, et cetera). When people don't dress for the weather... only they suffer. When people don't dress appropriately... we all suffer.

Oh, and what about those people that don't wear their sunscreen! I often see folks with hideous sunburns trodding miserably around the parks. I do sympathize with these folks... as it looks painful... but it's hard not to chuckle!

Affirm in part, dissent in part -- Some people at Disney dress like they're going to a nascar race (read: tank tops, spandex, classy tattoos etc). However, I dont think that tobacco/alcohol advertising is completely innapropriate. Seeing a logo on the hairy back of a tourist isn't going to make a kid want to smoke/drink -- I have no doubt that tobacco companies target children but I dont think that there should be a ban on tobacco advertising. Sorry rant over, I'm just a disgruntled racing fan who has watched Players Racing (which most people didn't even know was a Tobacco company) become Forsythe Racing, Kool Team Green become Andretti Green , West McLaren become Mercedes McLaren, BAR become Honda because of EU restrictions on tobacco advertising. To prevent people from being exposed to otherwise innocuous logos is to deprive them of free will.

I saw a guy wearing cowboy boots, jeans, a long sleeve denim shirt, a leather vest, bolo tie and cowboy hat... ALL BLACK!
craziness

I have a few beer t-shirts that i wear to the parks, but they're all for microbrews, and done in a "vintage" style, you probably wouldn't even know that its for a brewery if you didn't read the words or know the logo already.

I'm a devout flip-flop wearer and I still don't see how people could wear them in WDW. I've worn sneakers my whole life until I decided in June to try sandals (kind of a hippie look with two straps across the top and an additional strap across my heel) which actually DID work out quite well. My feet would get very sore in the sneakers because my feet swell very badly in Florida. With the sandals, no pain because my feet could freely expand. I never got my toes stepped on either.

Moral of the story: sandals can be appropriate foot attire in WDW if done correctly.

I like the women who walk around in high heels be it shoes or sandles, those have to be the best shoes for walking around the parks all day, especially World Showcase:lol::D. I too am amazed at what some people wear to the parks. I either chalk it up to stupidity or not being familiar how hot it gets in Florida. Either way, it gives me something to laugh at and shake my head.

Ignorant Parents

I feel for babies and other kids whose parents dress them too warmly. The poor kids don't have a choice. I once saw a baby in a furry bumblebee costume coming to Magic Kingdom for the Not so Scary halloween party. The temperature had been in the 90's and humid earlier that day, and wasn't cooling off too much that evening. The poor kid looked utterly miserable.

Child Abuse done in ignorance is still child abuse. Dress in layers, folks. Then you can adjust to the heat and cold.

It always bothers me to see the sunburn crowd. With everything we know today about skin cancer and with all that is available now to prevent a sunburn, there really is no excuse!

end of rant....

I, myself am not really offended by what people wear, amazed, but not offended. What offends me are the people who wear the wrong thing to the parks on a hot day and forget to shower or put on deoderant, :hurl: :hurl: , after a short time outside a small few of them start to become RANK!! RIPE!! pick one. Now I'm not saying that I don't have a problem, but at least I can tell when I need to, shall we say cover up with something??

I too cannot stand those who don't practice better hygeine. There is no reason for not wearing deodorant or taking a shower and then letting everyone else around suffer as they lift their arms in their tank tops:hurl::hurl::hurl:.

I wear flip-flops all the time when at Disney. Never have a problem with blisters. I'll change it up and wear sneakers maybe one day, but I like my feet to breathe.

I was miserable in a skirt and tank top...I don't see how people can wear jeans and even normal t-shirts on a hot day.

P.S. Yeah I don't get chicks in 4 inch high heels at WDW either.:lol:

Just to clarify, not everyone who attends Nascar races falls into your stereotyping. :p I have seen several people at WDW park who seem to be either dressed for going to a nightclub or for their normal shift on the street corner. I mean, really, thigh high boots and a mini dress do not qualify for WDW park attire. Add on to that, a gallon of makeup on your face that will be sweating off by the end of the day anyway.

I always wear flip-flops to the parks, no matter how long I'm staying. It's tennis shoes that tend to give me blisters. But I'm from Florida and flip-flops are the only thing I EVER wear... even at school

I really don't pay attention to how anyone is dressed. I'm too busy keeping my own family in check. :D

BTW, we are the mom and dad wearing black year round, do people really care?

I actually prefer the flip flops to the sneakers at the parks. And the cheaper the flip flops are, usually the better they are for my feet. It's the expensive sneakers that have my feet aching by the end of the night.
