They say they don't just teach the TAKS and they teach other stuff but the schools want that recognition of the state so they can get monies from the gov. :brick: So my child suffers.

State testing :fork::fork::fork:

Evening everyone :wave:
Hear for a few seconds while I catch up, then I'm taking cold medicine and heading for bed.

Phew! Y'all have been chattering! :lol:

Our school doesn't have a Psychologist so I would have to take her to one that we pick. Most likely the one that takes care of my other DD. Just told DH what you said and he said we might do that. Thanks.
I don't know how funding works in your state, Su...but I do know here in Ohio, certain disabilities receive more state funding than others for schools. If they have her listed as ADD and are getting a pretty penny from the state for that, it might explain why they don't want to do any more testing. :shrug:
Check to see if there is a central education center that services several districts in your area. If so, they should have a school psychologist on staff.
I would also get a general LD assessment independent of school testing and use that information when talking to the school. Preferably professionals that are used to dealing with school districts.

How was Joel's birthday, Jen?

Hi Jenn - how were the brownies, and how's the birthday boy?

Hello everyone - brownies turned out OK, more like a heavy cake, but not bad. Joel likes his new Thomas engines and book and is in Thomas world right now. :lol:

That is why we would get a reg doc to test. I don't trust our school to do anything right now.:dazzle:

Hang in there Susan - you are your child's advocate, and knowledge of educational rights is critical to standing your ground.

I think I am going to crawl under the blankets. I am soooo cold. We might have some sleet tonight or tomorrow. Maybe not depends on the moisture. So Good night.
