actually cyndi didn't write it...
Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg who wrote the song True Colors, Like a Virgin, etc. performed by various artists throughout the 80's. ...

I only have one thing to say about this... good riddance. That pre-show just had to go. It had absolutely nothing to do with the 3d-movie or the ride.. at least these two shared the common theme of the imagination institute. Maybe I wouldn't dispise that pre-show if it weren't so long. But that song just keeps going and going.... and no offense to the people that enjoyed the show for it's relaxing aspect, but why would you go to a loud, fast paced, 3d movie to relax? I dunno. Just my two cents. :hammer: I hope they put in something a little more dramatic that sets you up for the actual movie itself. Im sure they could come up with a new kodak commercial that's much more entertaining, couldn't they? :veryconfu

Let's all put our heads together and come up with a timeline of the Imagination pavillion 3D movie pre-shows.

1. Makin' Memories - I think we all agree on this.
2.?
3.?
4. True Colors
5. New one

I remember that there was something different one of the times we went. I don't know for sure, maybe I'm crazy, but I'm almost positive that one time we went to the 3D movie the preshow was a 3D re-do or experiment of the Donald Duck cartoon where he works at the circus and deals with the elephant and Chip n' Dale. It's the only time that I can remember that the pre-show actually utilized the 3D glasses. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else, I don't know. Wasn't Magic Journeys in the Magic Kingdom for a little while? :veryconfu

Makin' Memories was also the Captain EO Preshow, I believe. I am not 100% sure, but I believe it lasted until True Colors. Therefore, there were only 2 Kodak Preshows for the Magic Eye at EPCOT.

You're thinking of "Workin' for Peanuts," a 50s cartoon starring Chip and Dale (and Donald Duck, of course), which was made in 3-D. This played as the Preshow to Magic Journeys at the MAGIC KINGDOM once Captain EO took Magic Journeys' place at EPCOT in the late 80s. Magic Journeys closed at the Magic Kingdom around the same time as Captain EO in order to make way for Legend of the Lion King. :)

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it had something to do with Magic Journeys in the MK. To be honest, I can't remember a darn thing about Magic Journeys. The song's great and I know I saw it once, but I was young. I only remember images from Captain EO too.

Disney could make a fortune selling DVD's at the parks that had footage of old and discontinued rides. I know I'd pay 25 dollars for a DVD that had 2D prints of EO, Magic Journeys, and a tribute to Horizons on it. They could add True Colors, Makin Memories, the original movies in Universe of Energy. All sorts of stuff.

It's not like they'll go back to the vault and put it in the parks again.

You have no idea of how many people wish or have thought of this on their own. And yes, it is an EXCELLENT idea! They could pull more money out of me than ever if they started that...

As for Magic Journeys, the show started out with a bunch of kids looking at clouds (which reminded them of things: witch, clown, duck, etc.). They then go into a huge dream sequence where they actually meet up with clowns and all kinds of freaky 3-D stuff, including a witch. I clearly remember the scene - and also something dealing with an eye zooming into the audience. Everything else has pretty much fuzzed out.

Very whimsical, however! :)

After Making Memories there was a short pre-show that featured a photographer trying to make a baby smile. The show I believe was titled "Smile". It's run was fairly short and was replaced by True Colors.

It would probably cost too much royalties that they can afford, but they won't make enough money off it to care.

Okay, leave off Captain EO. That's the only thing on that list that they'd have to pay royalties for, and I'm sure the no-name version of "True Colors" would come at a fairly reasonable cost.

I, for one, will miss the True Colors preshow, but it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

The preshow at Disneyland is nowhere near as elaborate as at WDW. It is a series of fake tv-news style interviews with Dr. Channing, and plays on video monitors in the waiting area. I find it hard to believe that this would work at WDW, where the preshow is set up like a smaller theatre. Also, Eric Idle has aged noticeably since HISTA was filmed, so it would be pretty strange to see him as he appears now in the preshow with his younger likeness in the movie.

Those of you in sunny Florida, please keep us posted!

Thats true, but isn't Idle's "older image" currently being used in Journey into Imagination anyway? Mabey no one will notice....

In the new JII w/Figment, Channing looks much older than he does next door at HISTA. Still funny, however! However, to have him look different in the HISTA preshow, then seeing him younger in the show, well, that'll seem kinda unnatural.

They could probably work it in as being one of Wayne's crazy inventions - the portable aging device

ok two things, thier is only one version of the HISTA true colors song on the internet, really bad quality though.

I have 3 versions of the song, Cyndi, Phil and the HISTA version which I assume was recorded just for HISTA, its a high quality one too, not the poor recorded version.
