Is "CineMagic" so bad? I kinda like the name. Not a big fan of slapping "Kingdom" at the end. I feel like it should be anchored by something else or left off entirely. CineMagic Adventures? Cinemagic Grand? (sounds like a Pillsbury product)

As I posted earlier, Disney cannot use the name CineMagic. It is a registered trademark of a regional theater chain - https://www.cinemagicmovies.com/ .

Their trademark is on Zyacorp Entertainment's Cinemagic. Would that preclude Disney from using Disney's Cinemagic?

I'm sure Disney's lawyers could find a loophole on a small (8 theater) chain's claim on a name against an entertainment behemoth like Disney. Eminent Domain and other such finagleings ...

Or they could just buy them out and change their name for them.

Yes, just like they couldn't do "Disney's Wild Kingdom" because of "Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom".. They also have just plain "Cinemagic" trademarked as well.

There is no "loophole" - a company has the entertainment based registered trademark on that name. That's one of the nice things about trademark law, that size doesn't matter - and as you pointed out - "Zyacorp" seems to really like it's branding. Considering they hold multiple trademarks on it, they certainly took steps to protect themselves for such a small chain.

Well, they'd have to be willing to sell, LOL.

In any case, it's possible for Disney to buy or license it...but I have to ask - why? What is it about Cinemagic that makes folks think it's so important a name or the direction they want to go in? Is it just because of the film shown at WDS? I'm just curious why it keeps coming up.

I get what you're saying but Mutual of Omaha doesn't have Wild Kingdom trademarked. They may have Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom trademarked but they do not have the word Wild Kingdom trademarked.

Right! That was my point :) Yet, it was too close so Disney couldn't use it, which is why it's just Animal Kingdom. :)

In this case, Cinemagic has both the longer and the shorter version all trademarked, so it's doubly so.

longer and shorter version??? Are you referring to CinéMagique? That would be hard to do since Disney already owns that.

But I think it's Animal Kingdom because of other reasons. If Disney wanted to change Animal Kingdom's name right now to Disney's Wild Kingdom they could do so without any problem. There's no restrictions on using Wild Kingdom in anything.

I've always liked the name "Disney's Hollywoodland". With the original sign erected in 1923 (the same year the Disney Studios was formed in California), the name allows to tip the hat to Disney's founding days and its love for vintage Hollywood while, inviting guests into their own romanticized vision of a Hollywood not quite seen before. Obviously, it closely resembles its current name but, makes clear it is no longer an actual studio (working or fabricated) and instead establishes a movie wonderland that can capture the escapism and magic of all of Disney's many different movie making avenues (Lucasfilm, Pixar, Disney, Disney Animation, etc.)

I like some of what I have heard but what about just changing the wording to The Studios of Disney theme park! My theory being multiple studios Disney owns will be and possible represented there.

No, they can't. They tried...it's too close.

So unless they purchase the rights to Cinemagic (presuming they were for sale) they cannot use that unique term, no matter if they put "Disney's" before it or not.

In any case, again - I ask - where does this Cinemagic stuff come from? Is this an actual rumor or is it just some fan suggestion because of the attraction in Paris?
