Holiday Decorations on the ships

I've seen photos of the Disney Dream decorated for Christmas. When are the ships decorated and when are these decorations removed?

This piqued my interest. Do they take down/put up the decorations while the ship is on a port turn around? Thats pretty impressive. They only have about 4 hours between the last people leaving and the first people getting on board.

I wrote DCL and received the following reply:

During the Holiday Season, we will have festive decorations and holiday themed entertainment for the entire family. Our youth activities will
host many holiday activities for our younger Guests, and we will show
special holiday movies (Disney and other classics).

The following Events and Activities are scheduled on the ship:

*A tree-lighting ceremony in the atrium lobby, where "snow" magically falls
*Character "Meet and Greets" in appropriate holiday attire
*International holiday caroling by Crew Members from around the world
*Special family time, when families join together to design and decorate their own gingerbread houses
*Classic holiday story time

Please check your Personal Navigator once onboard for exact times and
locations of events and activities, as these are subject to change.

Disney's Castaway Cay is also transformed into a Magical Wonderland with
'snow' flurries, a Christmas Tree, Mr. and Mrs. Snowman (with shell
noses and tropical shirts), carolers and the island's tram is decorated
to resemble a reindeer, complete with antlers and tail.

At this time, the schedule for the decoration dates has not been
determined. Please check back with us closer to time to sail.

Does anyone know when they take down Christmas decorations?

I don't think Disney likes to say exactly when they go up and down every year. I'm sure it depends on the ship schedules. To be safe, they are always up by Thanksgiving (sometimes much earlier in November), and usually down right after New Years.

We were on a January 3rd cruise and they were down.

To answer Dave's question, I believe they come down in the middle of the night.

This makes me very excited, when we first picked a date for our cruise we weren't even thinking about it being during the holidays. When we did realize it made us that much more excited!

Is it November yet?

We have friends on the Fantasy now (11/21) and just got a text message that the Christmas decorations were going up now. Apparently, the decorations are going up over night. We are on the Fantasy starting Saturday (11/24) and should find a fully decorated boat (fingers crossed). It's very exciting.

I'm guessing that since Christmas extends into January approximately mid-month for the parks that they will do the same for the boats. My guess is that if you're on the boat for the first sometime the first week maybe two you'll probably also get to see the decorations. :)
