News Holiday crowds at Walt Disney World theme parks 2022

Even though we swore we wouldn't, our Universal trip last month brought us to Epcot for a day. I couldn't resist getting a chance to go to the Food and Wine Festival / 50th merch. But besides scoring a boarding group for Guardians, it was as miserable as I feared. Just crowds and crowds of people milling around with absolutely nothing to do. We went on one other ride besides Guardians, the 3 Calballeros. Everything else was slammmed. The entire day was spent wandering around, waiting in line for food, and me staring at the boarding group countdown. It was horrible and completely contrasted our time at Universal.
Definitely got what we deserved on that one since I kept saying "no more Disney". But boy do we really mean it this time after that disaster.
Long story short I can't even imagine the sheer masses of people just doing the same aimless wandering with nothing to do at the parks right now. Big Yikes.
Just out of curiosity, what day of the week?

"Guests visiting Walt Disney World in the coming weeks should keep in mind that, starting from today, parking at all on-site resorts will be on a "hard close;" as a result, the only Guests that will be able to park there will be the following:
  • Guests that have a resort confirmation;
  • Guests that have a CONFIRMED dining reservation (mobile orders not included);
  • Day guests that have already been registered onto a current resort reservation.
Be aware that all other guests trying to park in these parking lots will be directed away from the resorts. Guests are always welcome to park at Disney Springs and use bus transportation to reach the hotels."

This is basically what they do most of the time anyway, at least at the Epcot and MK resorts.

Man, this place is soooooo toxic and negative. Nobody here has a silver bullet solution that will make everyone happy but TONS posting in this thread like to decry what the current administration is doing. Your lives would be much more fulfilled with a more positive hobby besides being negative on internet message boards
Perhaps you don’t understand what a discussion forum is.

MK and Epcot seem OK-ish so far today.

HWS isn't pretty. But, then when is it ever.

DAK is hideous. 4 hours for FOP?!?

A case of the reservations system backfiring and them pushing too many people to DAK and away from the other parks?

Or maybe the Avatar 2 fan club has decended en masse.

It's Tough to be a Bug has a 25 minute wait! I don't think I've ever seen that before!

EDIT: I was informed that the boat to the Contemporary from WL has not returned since the pandemic hit in 2020. I added a new #4 to boat back to MK then #5 resort monorail to Contemporary.

If you want to see the Christmas trees at the resorts, it's walk, monorail, bus, boat, and skyliner now.

My route
  1. Park at TTC
  2. Express monorail or ferry to MK
  3. Boat to WL - Tree
  4. Boat back to MK
  5. Resort monorail to Contemporary - Gingerbread sculpture and tree outside
  6. Resort Monorail to Poly - Small Tree
  7. Resort Monorail to GF - Gingerbread house and tree
  8. Resort Monorail to MK
  9. Bus to Boardwalk - Tree and other decorations
  10. Boat to Beach/Yacht club dock
  11. Walk to Yacht lobby - Tree and other decorations
  12. Walk to Beach lobby - Tree and other decorations
  13. Skyliner to Riveria - Never been. Tree?
  14. Skyliner to HS (transfer at CBR)
  15. Bus to CSR - Tree
  16. Bus to AK - Tree outside
  17. Bus to AKL - Tree
  18. Bus to MK
  19. Ferry or Express monorail back to TTC and car

Everyone is concentrating on the number of people at the parks, but I'm curious what the throughput on the rides are right now. Quick look for the next couple nights, pretty much every hotel outside of Caribbean Beach of all places has availability. Now yes, the prices are INSANE (I don't want to know the people that will pay $300 to stay at the Pop Century), but there seems to be plenty of availability outside the bubble as well. I'd love to be able to get a better read on if the parks are really crammed with people, or if it's the lack of staff.

Well it’s probably little of both! This is the most busiest time of the year and they did lay off tens of thousands of people, we know they did not get all those folks back, so it’s both.

IMO a lot of it has to do with Genie+. Lots of people wandering around aimlessly waiting for their next return time.
