Holding for ADR - so nervous!!

What???? So you take up a total of 3 reservations (2 of which two other families could take) and the day of you choose which one to go to? Thats not being very respectful to other people & the vacation they are spending $ for as well. They are just trying to get reservations for the same resturant and times that you have; that you'll probably not use! Hmmm.... thats not right.

I agree!!! It's so selfish and well, mean! Sorry, when I get upset I loose my words! :( You know what a Disney trip means to people? It's amazing - once in a life time for some! It's lovely to plan a trip - and dreaming of where you are going to enjoy your meals. And some selfishly plans for themselves - taking up so many ADR's. If one thing good comes out of all these ADR changes, it will prevent people from taking advantage and being so selfish.

I don't mean to start anything, but that is why people have trouble getting reservations. Do you at least cancel the ones you're not using the morning of so people can try to get a same day/walk-up reservation?
Honestly, no, we dont cancel very often.
This IS within the rules of the system. Remember, it was Disney employees that gave the blue print.
I have NEVER been questioned nor ask as to why i have ressies relatively close together. But again, it IS within the rules.
Each person or family needs to ensure THEY are going to have a good vacation. No one else is gonna do it for you.
I/we dont keep ANYONE from eating. When we dont show up, a stand by gets in.
So, Disney still has full tables and thats ALL that matters.

:rolleyes:Oh please. The folks you speak of have the same opportunity to ensure they too get their ressies.
There are NO victims here...:ROFLOL:
And, as told before it IS allowed.
I disagree with your opinion on "selfish". Its called "taking care of things" and looking out for number ONE, Which is MY family. I wont apologise for that.
Cause when i plan a vacation, no one else but i will be looking out for us.
I respect your opinion, we are all entitled to one, i just disagree.
You plan YOUR way, I'll do it MY way. Free country. Different strokes for different folks, i respect that.

Surely 'looking out for number one' IS being selfish. You obviously read on here that we are all looking forward to getting ADRs and it's people (unselfish of course) like you who make it so difficult. I hope that you're not going to be booking meals when we are going!

Not often, because they are actually saving that table for you and your family... that's why they often don't take walk up reservations anymore. But whatever, that's your choice.

Of course, there will always be ways around it, but the new reservation system is supposed to be cutting down on this type of thing anyway.

Your taking care of things is selfish - as the other poster said, I hope you and YOUR family are not traveling when we are. You clearly don't respect others...that is evident...or care for them either. It is selfish.

According to your definition..taking care of a family, is "selfish"...
Not really sure which universe you live in? I guess i'll stop working overtime, its rude of me for accepting it, according to you, i stole it from someone else.
I will continue to be "selfish" as you say. My family is that important to me.
You do it your way, i'll do it mine. No issues and we both can be happy.
Do you call everyone names that you dont agree with? You have called me "selfish, and disprespectful (not a name but a demeaning comment none the less), what does that say about you?
You have the right to not like the way i do things, you also have the right to plan the way you want to-
But you dont know me, you are making judgements that are not only rude, but off base.

I'm not going to waste any more time on you with this. You don't get what I am, or other posters here, are saying.

Well, thank you.
The number of folks that do the described way af acheiving ADR's is VERY VERY common. Maybe not to you or even other posters but all in all, VERY common. Just ask the CM when you get to the place of choice.
Dont take yourself too serious, dont be so tightly wound.

I just HATE:fork: the fact I need to plan my holiday, I think the problem is with so many people now booking a FOOD INCLUSIVE package, there is a large demand on restaurants. I personally think it should be an on demand service, first come first served, and no prebooking, you just wait to be seated. It is supposed to be a holiday, not a scheduled operation, I have enough of planning at work. I prefer going with the flow but unfortunately I have had to arrange a few things or I would have ended up with counter service my whole stay. We are not all inclusive purely because we want choice to go where we want, when we want and not be tied to a schedule. I also think a 2hr call from Scotland was unacceptable to arrange ADR, I haven't seen our phone bill yet but I think I might be hiding it from my husband:ROFLOL:

I do think however Disney should only allow one booking per family for breakfast, lunch and dinner booked per day to make it achieveable for all families to try and get bookings too. If this was the case, I still think it would be achieveable to change plans and maybe go elsewhere because there wouldn't be so many people overbooking. I also think this would give Disney a true picture of demand in restaurants. If everyone over booked it would give them a highly inaccurate figure for them to try and manage, staff and provide food for. My comments are not meant to annoy anyone in any way, just my opinion, each to their own.:)

Oh how I wish that they had the online dining ressie system up and running so you wouldn't have to make such long phone calls!!! Hopefully for your next trip!!! I am so glad you were able to get the ADR's you wanted!! I can't wait to hear all about the pirate cruise!!

What *I* like to do is find out the names and phone numbers of other guests staying at Disney World (takes some effort but WORTH IT!), then I call WDW-DINE and giving their phone number, I find out their ADRs and I cancel 'em!, Then I call up as myself and ask "if anything opened up!!!" It doesn't always work out, because sometimes some total jerk takes the ressie before you can finish stealing it. For that, I recommend working in tandem with a partner. So, like, while you're pretending to be that other person cancelling ressies at Le Cellier, your wife or friend or whatever is on another line trying to get ressies for the exact same time! Works more often than not! :ROFLOL: And then when those people show up for their cancelled ressies, they're like :veryconfu and I'm like :lookaroun on the outside but I'm all :goodnevil on the inside, but I know that if they ever found out, they'd think it's a pretty good joke.

I sat through Ron Howard's movie Backdraft once, so I feel entitled. :king: :king: :king: :king: :king:

Just curious

When you park your car in a public lot how many spaces do you take?

you have no right to ask alecshawn that question how dare you people like you make me angry enough to spit do *not* answer that question alecshawn!!! Firefighters like you and nazi hunters like me park in however many damn spaces we deem necessary! Heck, with stones like we got, we need at least two *cars* to transport them, so we need at least 4 spaces!

Each!

Hi, I am the THREAD STARTER and am disappointed at the way this thread has gone. From me phoning excited trying to book restaurants to cheeky comments. This discussion forum should calm down and respect our fellow Disney "Friends" from around the world. I don't understand why these threads turn sour, get a grip, take your frustrations and negative thoughts out on someone else and not on this forum (think before you type). It is Disney and this sort of behaviour does not belong here. Learn to behave like adults and treat people they same way you want to be treated. END OF RANT!!

I agree
We should all do the right thing
Be respectful of the thoughts and feelings of others

Which I think would include taking up only 1 parking space and only booking 1 restaurant reservation for each meal.

Just because the system (or laws of the land for that matter) allow you to do something does not make it right.

Just my 2.6 Canadian cents ( 2 cents US when you factor in the current exchange rate).
