today, april 25, i was told that a harry potter attraction was going to be replacing the 20k lagoon if all the paper work was completed. ( have no idea what the paper work is about) of course i heard this from a source in disney who is a family friend. (pretty high up too:animwink: )apparently, the attraction would be in a hodwarts school building and look pretty miraculous from fantasyland. i hope this happens now that i have been told that is is VERY possible in the future. does anybody else know about this?

At this point, I'm going to stick to my info that says "No."

It'll probably happen about the same time they decide to greenlight that Clive Barker land they drew up. Not soon.

I think it would be so incredible to have a Harry Potter attraction. Seriously it better be genious because if not you will have a lot of angry people hahah....However, I think this is a smart move because well Harry Potter is a very popular franchise. Smart move Disney....smart move

Oh, big kick in the face for non-believers. :)

Awesome man, I've heard about this as well, and don't mind anyone else here, they just don't believe it cause I'm the first one who said it. lol. Anyway, HP has been in the works for a long time. I'm curious as to who told you this...

Because everything I've heard has pointed it out to being true.

This rumor's roots can be traced back to when I was walking in Epcot and heard a man on a cell phone talking about the attraction story boards.

About a year later a Universal Executive mentioned it in a speech that Disney has Harry Potter "wrapped up."

Most recently, my Imagineer friend Jon has confirmed that it is in the works, and the 20K lagoon is planned to be filled in for the Harry Potter attraction. Though he also said that HP is tied up in rights, as Disney is in contract negotiations with J.K. Rowling and Time Warner for the theme park rights to build the actual attraction. Currently, Disney has the rights to use Harry Potter Music in the parks, rights to air Harry Potter on TV, and currenty sells Harry Potter items in the parks. This is looking to be more and more of a done deal. Of course, most others you ask will say it's totally false, but from my perspective, I say it's all 100% true, and there will be a Harry Potter ride somewhere.

Let's hope that if it happens that this will fit into the nature of Fantasy Land. I have to say, that for me at least a well done Hogwarts themed ride/addition to WDW is one of the few things that could be a worthy sucessor to 20K, and it probably the single property besides Disney's characters that most kids recognize.

A HP attraction would be amazing!!
i hope this works out
and actually, now would be a perfect time, since there are still 2 books left to come out and 5 movies... it would be very popular

Sorry but I feel that Harry Potter does NOT belong at MK at all. If they feel they *must* have a Potter attraction in one of the parks, they should put it in over at MGM. It would just be totally out of place at MK as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather see a villians theme ride or even a classic Disney toons ride (Silly Symphonies anyone?) put in the 20k space.

Now I like that idea! More than a Potter attraction for sure. :D

If Star Wars and Indiana Jones and the Muppets (pre-Disney ownership) all fit at Disney, then why doesn't Harry? Not at the MK, necessarily, but I'd love to see Harry at the Studios.

Agreed! Why is it that Indiana Jones fits in Disneyland yet Harry Potter doesn't fit in Disney World? That is rubbish. In fact, HP is much more in line with the typical "disney spirit" than Indiana is. As long as they don't make it TOO intrusive, it should fit in nicely. The only reason people have a problem with this is because HP is a current franchise. I bet if it was 20 years old, like Indiana franchise is, people would say it is timeless and that it is Disney worthy. Meh. You can't please them all.

my friend and i were just talking about this... we feel that it shoudln't happen but instead have a whole park dedicated to hp... (it should not be part of wdw... but maybe outside of it or even made by the wb)

This Harry Potter Rumor has been around a couple of times already. The HP franchise is not as popular as it was few years ago and its losing strength. It would take almost 2 years to complete a ride of that caliber and by then it will be dated. I don't see this as a real option as far as "staying power" Its a phase and a very risky solution.

I think this will be a good thing for the park. The generation of kids growing up now will have their own little piece of Fantasyland to remanice about 20 years from now, like we do when it comes to (RIP) Mr. Toads, Peter Pan, the original Snow White ride, and even (sad to admit) IaSW. Even though many feel these rides need to go or be changed, we still remember them after the fact. HP is a good thing for everyone. Tell me you don't go to see the muppets at MGM whenever you go there, HONESTLY.

I remain incredulous toward this rumor...all of the people who I have even a smidgen of trust in on this site say it won't happen, and I just don't see a Warner Bros. movie becoming an E-Ride...selling books at Drop-In Gifts is one thing, an E-Ride is something else. All of the Warner Bros. rides are in Six Flags parks, including the Warner Brothers Movie World parks in Spain, Germany, and Australia. Next thing you know, Superman Ride of Steel will open at MGM and the Riddler's Revenge behind Wonders of Life:hurl:

I don't see what HP has to do with Disney. At least if it was placed in MGM it is understandable, considering they are movies, just like Indiana Jones, Muppets, etc. But it has no place being in MK, especially in the middle of Fantasyland.
