I don't see why you are so against bringing in outside ideas...

I see no harm in Harry Potter...

If it is done right I think it would look pretty neat. But it better look like my avatar, or I'll be rather Angry...

I don't think they'd put another castle-looking building that close to Cindy's Castle.

Perhaps if it was far enough off in the distance? Forced Perspective? Perhaps you enter not in the castle, but you enter closer to Fantasyland in the side of the mountain somewhere, then build Hogwarts off in the distance with forced perspective...

I still don't see something this dark and sinister right in the middle of fantasyland...it's really the center of where small kids go in the park....

I agree that the ideal remedy would be to, once again, be the leader in family entertainment. That's difficult in todays world with family entertainment coming from many, many sources.

Even if, somehow, tomorrow they hire the best creative minds in the world, how long will it take to produce a feature? Maybe three or four years? How long will it take to approve, plan and build a ride based on that feature? Another four or five years? Even if everything falls in place, can we really believe, at this point, that Disney will be able to produce a story and characters that have the kind of broad appeal and staying power that Harry Potter has already showed?

Disney made a mistake by not buying the film rights to Harry Potter when they had the chance. If they had done that, we wouldn't need to have this conversation today. HP would be a "Disney" character plain and simple.

Now that the initial mistake is history, they can either stand on pride and miss out on an opportunity to bring the most beloved children's character of the past ten years (argueably of the last 50 years, what other character has had people lined up at midnight book releases?) into the parks (doesn't have to be Magic Kingdom, though the fantasy elements seem to lend themselves to the themeing).

Think about Snow White, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh. Did Disney "create" any of them? I don't believe so. If my understanding is correct, those were all popular children's characters long before Disney adopted them. Why does Harry Potter have to be different.

Then I think it's high time we change management soon - there's not time to lose! ;)

They were popular, but not to such an extent when Disney brought them in. They were furthermore "Disneyized" with a different flavor.

Harry Potter has its own flavor - - now if Disney MADE Harry Potter, a feeling would bring it more naturally into the Magic Kingdom.

Kinda like, as they've said, opening a Bugs Bunny Ride or bringing in Rapunzel to hold meet and greets.

I respect how you feel Grizz. You're definitely a traditionalist. But I guess I wouldn't mind seeing HP at MGM instead. I think it would be palatable there since it's a movie studio park. But I find this whole debate very interesting.

Ohhh, this is a tough one.

I love HP. The stories, the movies... I would love to be able to go to a place and get lost in the fantacy. But I think that I am starting to agree with everyone who says it does not belong in MK. It really is not a part of the "Disney Magic". It needs it's own park. I would even like to see it in Epcot as part of the British pavilion. If they do build it over 20K, however, I would be one of the first people in line to see it.

Don't like it? Change management: www.savedisney.com - -

- - Unless, of course, we want Disney to die slowly. . . which would be signalled by Dino-Ramas and outside films coming into the Magic Kingdom.

Give me a break!

How old is Star Tours? Came right at the PEAK of disney's boom.

It'll probably happen about the same time they decide to greenlight that Clive Barker land they drew up. Not soon.

You mean that the Land of Abarat is not coming now? Someone should tell Clive that so that he could remove it from his site.

I would be ok with the idea of a Harry Potter Ride as long as the Hogwarts building does not look to out of place in Fantasyland. I would definately be againist it if you could see the building anywhere but right in frount of it. The building does not need to be so tall you can see it from Main Street. A building the size of the HM, just a short, small facade, would be ideal in my opinion. Although it would fit very well in MGM, WHERE WOULD THEY PUT IT??? MGM is full enough, they had to destroy part of the backlot tour just to put in a stunt show!!! Again, i am ok with the idea as long as it does not dominate the Magic Kingdom!! Not my MAGIC KINGDOM. lol. Whatever happens i hope it's for the best and looking towards the whole future of WDW. I know my brother and Cousins will be excited, and when cousins come to town, an excuse to skip school and go to WDW!!! I like what Bill Said, maybe enter through a mountain and then see the castle. I agree it's a dark looking castle!
