They can still make up for everything, if they bring back the original cast for the 30th. I don't know if they have enough time, but it makes perfect sense. To get the band back together. Max already said he would have loved to have come back for the sequel, but they never asked him.

The fans would love a real sequel to the family classic. Make it happen Disney, Hocus Pocus 3 for the 30th in 2023. All they need other than the original cast and their kids... is the town of Salem, Mass.

I finally got around to seeing the movie, and I'm in the minority that thought it was better than the original. 🤷‍♂️

That opening extended flashback was truly awful, and I was very nervous at first, but it was all up from there. I think they did a wonderful job of taking the original lore, and updating it for today's world. I know that's a trope in itself, but I thought it was handled very well here. The scene in the Walgreen's beauty department made me laugh harder than anything in the first movie. The sheetmask had me actually crying from laughter. I thought that the new trio of kids were more natural, and did a better job of outsmarting the witches at every turn. I also thought that Bette, Sarah, and Kathy were truly at the top of their game and all delivered incredible performances. I didn't mind any of the musical numbers either. I thought it was fun, clever holiday content that Disney+ desperately needs, and I definitely think there's enough gas in the tank for a third entry.

Just an HP2 update. “Variety reported that the latest Nielsen top 10 streaming chart shows the Disney+ movie now owns the distinction of Nielsen's biggest opening weekend ever for a streaming movie: It scored 2.7 billion minutes watched after premiering Sept. 30.”

According to a new article about Sean Bailey in the New York Times, Hocus Pocus 3 is apparently happening.

"Mr. Bailey, who watched “The Little Mermaid” 18 times as it worked its way through Disney’s pipeline, has more than 50 movies in various stages of development and production, including live-action versions of “Moana,” “Hercules” and “Lilo and Stitch.” Yes, “Hocus Pocus 3” is happening. (His division makes two or three big-budget films annually for release in theaters and three modestly budgeted movies for Disney+.)"

Looks like it's definitely not happening for the 30th. They've got only 2 months to get it done for that one. Here's hoping they do get it out for the next anniversary, whatever that would be. The 35th???

Or they could just say it is 2023 in the movie.
