Hockey, Anyone?

As a life-long Wings fan, I want to congratulate the Pens on the Stanley Cup win and for giving us a GREAT Finals this year. Both teams deserved it, but the better team won (as is usually the case).

Just wanted to correct something I felt blackthidot missed on. Detroit was the laughing stock for years there in the 70's and early 80's until a young man came out of the Peterborough Petes OHL team up here in Canada in 1983 by the name of Steve Yzerman. He changed the face of this franchise and brought them back to greatness. Fedorov definitely helped this team in the 90's, but they wouldn't have went ANYWHERE without the great Stevie Y.

I just thought(and still think) the Wings are the superior team.
If they were the superior team, they would have been hoisting the cup, and at some bar in Detroit the equivalant of the South Side in Pittsburgh, partying with the cup. (That's inside info and you didn't hear it from me!)

No, the Pens are the superior team, as they won, and brought Lord Stanley back to the City of Champions.

This just in: Penguins like their wings red hot with a side of humble pie.

So far a good year for sports teams in the 'Burgh. What would make it a great year is if the Buccos could at least get to .500 at the end of the season.:hammer:

I mean, you can say that all you want. But sometimes the best team doesn't win. The Phillies last year spring to mind. In no way shape or form were they the best team in baseball, but they won the World Series. Or the Giants winning the Super Bowl against the Patriots. Sometimes the lesser team pulls it out.

Youre right, Stevie Y is one of my fav players but I didnt mention him because the Wings didnt start to light it up really until they drafted Federov and gave DET a 1-2 punch, then they drafted Lidstrom, got Kozlov, Konstaintinov, yada yada...

You can say what you want about injuries, last year Sid, Malkin, Sykora were all hurt.

I was at the Pirate's game on Sunday and they brought out the Pens and the Lord Stanley's cup and they were all wearing pirates uniforms. So, at least, I got to see champions wearing pirate uniforms.

BTW, did anyone notice the Pirates won the series with Detroit over the weekend 2-1.

SirGoofy, I'll let you off the hook. The two teams were evenly matched. Sooner or later one of these two teams were gonna win a game on foreign ice.
