HKDL gets new castle, frozen land and marvel land.

HK needs a showstopper. Frozen looks good from afar but it needs more! Whatever is planned for Tomorrowland can’t come soon enough and it would seem easy for them to expand TSL with the space they have.
I'm not sure Toy Story land expansion makes sense as there's already 3 attractions themed to it. Everyone says Toy Story mania but honestly I think hk needs a well themed Toy Story dark ride in that space but I doubt that ever happens.

If they use the Toy Story pad it shouldn’t be for Toy Story; they can fit a mini land in there

DHS is the runaway best TSL and even it gets barely mixed reviews, the current TSL fills out the ride count, a well themed mini land with a nice compact e ticket (like mystic point) would do much more for the park then trying to make TSL better

Mostly agreed just that in hk I think Toy Story is very very popular. I think its best performing animation in hk.

it is very popular (as is TSL in general) but it’s also quite poor capacity, I guess they could do one more Toy Story attraction and then a generic fantasyland ride to fill out the space

It would just be a question of if a DHS sized TSL would be a benefit to the park even accounting for the popularity of TS in HK

There is also the fact that duffy’s playhouse is pulling 60-90 minute waits despite being high capacity and temporary, the park would have massive queues if it wasn’t pulling a lot of people

Been a while since I’ve seen wait times like this at HK

I think the fact that slinky dog ride has the biggest line for a basic ride shows the local popularity for toy story land I honestly believe a 4th Toy Story rude would do well in HK.
It would come down to what they would build and how they would use the plot

They could add maybe one more small flat ride without fully committing the plot to Toy Story, the only flat ride from any of the Toy Story lands that hasn’t been used is the woodies roundup/alien swirling saucers ride from Shanghai/DHS and that has a rather large footprint

If they go any larger (say midway mania or slinky dog dash) they would need to commit the entire plot

Not saying they shouldn’t commit it but that plot is also fantasyland’s last available plot because it’s now hemmed in on all sides (unless you count clopins as an expansion plot which in general I don’t) and a relatively flat land like TSL is going to make it harder to hide the back of FEA compared to a land with a ride building that backs onto FEA

True I’m much more impressed that the capacity monsters mystic manor and big grizzly were 2 hours and 90 minutes

The two of them together do about as much in an hour as Toy Story land does in half a day
Also pleased to see Mystic Manor pulling such a big crowd.

I always had a vague idea that it was more popular among Disney fans than among HKDL visitors, but at least this suggests that it is indeed one of the park's headline attractions.

I always had that perception as well, Disney fans laud it as a revolutionary attraction (which to be fair it kinda is) that basically saved HKDL (which I think comes from it being a modern interpretation of what made the haunted mansion what it is and id say the haunted mansion is probably the runaway winner of “best Disney attraction as ranked by longtime Disney fans”) but to HK guests on average it’s just a “pretty good dark ride” and a way to get out of the heat

It’s another reason why I’m hopeful for arendelle, HK guests have never really shied away from IP’s, this could be because the park is small enough that anything is good or it could genuinely be because most don’t have the nostalgia of the old stateside parks they view IP lands as a good thing

another point in favour of the improved public perception of HK, it’s google star rating has improved from 4.2 to 4.5 stars in the last 6 months and recent 1 star reviews have been almost entirely focused on it being too crowded, while old reviews instead focused on it being too small

So it seems like the crowds are helping it feel more like Shanghai, where the park feels like it has more to do because you are spending longer in the lines

Yes lines really help Shanghai feel very busy and lot to do but shanghais lines are bit insane. on my previous visit there the lines were well over 100 minutes for popular ride if I'm not mistaken seven dwarfs was at like 160 mins wait which is ridiculous. but most of the more thrill based rides were all over 100 minutes except pirates which only had a 20 minute wait. I do think if Hk lines are maintained then Disney will more likely build sooner in hk too.

I think the castle change has really helped give the park its own unique character. Also during covid many were forced to go to Hk Disney instead of overseas and the old original perception that parks to small faded away. I remember pre-covid when I told people I was taking relatives to hk Disney etc they just usually laughed at me saying its so small, no rides. I think sometimes perception takes a long time to change.

Me again

Still not sure how I feel about the north mountain being so present on Main Street but with how well it fits into the nook there I have to assume it was intentional

Otherwise very very few bits of scaffolding left and nothing more to construct

We also just managed to catch a glimpse of WOSS running the other day so alongside the official videos we know they are well into ride testing now

Shanghai has the same number of attractions but does over twice the yearly attendance so yeah it makes sense why it’s always busy as hell

But I agree whatever your opinions on the castle itself it’s obvious redoing the castle was a fantastic decision on the parks part

I also think they have struck a really good balance with their annual passes, I’m a gold student annual pass holder and I live in Australia, they are just fantastic value for money

Sorry I know I post on this thread more than everyone else combined but hey I love HDKL

So I was talking to guest services at the park yesterday and apparently (of course take this with a grain of salt) according to inside information circulating due to some very talkative imagineers quinjet has officially been shelved and they are drawing up plans for 2 things

-another stark expo attraction to fill the space quinjet will go (no other information given)
-an on theme expansion to grizzly gulch that will contain the parks new headliner, from what’s being circulated the pavilion will not be ripped down

Of course this could all just be made up stuff the cast members are just randomly hearing from each other but when I worked at WDW when the imagineers started whispering they were almost always right

This sounds like a solid plan actually! Hopefully what's rumored for Grizzly is a log flume ride. It's also interesting to think they would use their biggest expansion plot not for an entirely new land, but a single ride expansion for an existing land. I'm in favor of the Pavillion staying or relocating so I'm glad it's here to stay.

There wasn’t a lot on the size of the land expansion, since grizzly is already a large ride in a small land adding one more ride to a large land wouldn’t be that bad

If the park really needs a lot more land they have the space next door
