So we may have just booked the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel for 8 nights. Gulp.
I am planning a trip over myself for next year! Really wanna stay at the Explorers Lodge again. Hoping for a good deal. I've seen some very good ones at the moment. Enjoy your trip!

Thank you. We were waiting for the 30% offer to extend into our time frame so when you book just wait a bit if there’s no “offers”

If we like it (which I’m sure we will) we do fancy the Explorers for another trip. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves 😂

Thanks for the tip! This isn't your first time to HKDL right? Explorers Lodge is so well done and great. But of course the Disneyland Hotel is great as well. And with Arendelle opening, it really has become a first class resort in my opinion. Can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get back!

I was told the plan is it should be open by then. No guarantee of course.
We are looking at the end of august, is that looking promising or not

We are fine if not, we love HKDL regardless but we are just surprised so close to its opening where from the limited sightlines the land looks finished that it’s still not actually been formally announced

Looks like basically all scaffolding is finished with including around WOSS

We can’t see if the lake has been filled in but the land looks functionally finished from our limited sightlines

On May 22nd, an update on HKDLR will be given at the Legislative Council's Panel on Economic Development (from 10:50 am to 11:40 am HKT).

Expect some announcements around this date, which will for sure include attendance numbers and financial status, as well as an update on the park's development.
It is also possible that an opening date will be announced for world of Frozen. Usually, press releases are often published along with meetings like this one.

Also, it is interesting to note that
"As at end March 2022, the Government and TWDC each injected $2,445 million into the above-mentioned joint venture for implementing the Plan (i.e. $4,890 million in total)" (https://www.legco.gov.hk/yr2022/english/fc/fc/w_q/cedb-cit-e.pdf)
This sum represents less than half of the HK$10.9 billion that were budgeted for the park's development, so big plans might still be coming !

Wait and see... 👀

Pass. I asked a friend who would know and got a nod for our trip. But you’d hope they want it open for the busy season.

That actually presents An interesting question, let’s say that we can take that statement at face value, that somehow Moana, iron man, ant man COMD and arendelle together represent around half the budget of the expansion (add a little bit more to accomodate the construction costs incurred over the last year), that would put quinjet alone at 5 billion HKD, which is about 630 million USD so surprisingly close to the original budget for DCA’s quinjet at 500 million

Let’s say that money wasn’t absolutely dedicated to quinjet but was just 5 billion HKD earmarked for HDKL development, would you want them to go ahead with quinjet and spend it all on one mega e ticket or diffuse that money around the park and build 3 or 4 c-d ticket rides to fill out the parks offerings. I can see both sides, even with MM Hong Kong still wants for unique attractions to make it internationally desirable for Disney fans but it also wants for attractions in general, is quinjet more valuable than say midway mania in TSL, a log flume in an expanded grizzly gulch, a new small dark ride in fantasyland and a smaller less splashy dark ride where quinjet would be plus an extra sit down restaurant, a downtown Disney might even be an option

In my opinion a big fat undeniable E-ticket is just the thing HKDL needs. Bring on the quinjet!

That’s totally fair, it would be good to give it a third headliner because that’s the area it really falls short on compared to Shanghai (well and size but size I’d say that’s a debatable quality in Shanghai, I lean towards if being a negative)

I would love to see both considering the parks soaring public perception with HK locals (if that translates to more guests overall is debatable), quinjet plus downtown Disney on the boulevard and 2-3 filler attractions to fill out its expansion pads would put it in striking distance of Tokyo and put pressure back on for the second gate

I agree, HKDL needs one more headliner (preferably one that's unique) to separate it from its Asia counterparts. Personally I would love to see that Pirates of the Caribbean flume concept that was floated around years ago.
Also... I hope I'm wrong, but didn't Disney lose the land across from the park during the pandemic?

The land isn’t “reserved” for Disney at this current time but the original agreement between Disney and the government (pre construction of the park) put very strong rules on what could be built in that area if Disney gave it up (alongside the rest of the area around penny’s bay), functionally it can be government buildings or another tourist attraction, that’s about it

The government did take away the rights to build the second gate but it was more pageantry to maybe get a better deal down the line, if this expansion finished and the attendance soared and Disney presented a valid business case for a second gate the government would let them build it
