And other than Pirates and Tron, a much better attraction list.
I think I'd give the edge to Shanghai as a collection of attractions (perhaps giving more credit than is deserved for originality) but to Hong Kong as the better park.

I think if you were to take the attractions of both parks, put them into a single gate, and make them exist harmoniously within a coherent themed environment it'd actually solve a lot of problems with both of the Chinese parks' lineups. I feel like Shanghai is too top heavy and Hong Kong has too many supporting attractions, with only a handful of superlatives.

Ive never been to either but god damn treasure cove in shanghai looks to be the greatest themed area in any park. PotC is awesome obviously, but even more than that, the camp discovery mountain climbing obstacle course looks so amazing to me. The view over the lagoon, and the river rapids running through it, just a really well thought out land.

i just noticed the imagery on google maps must have been updated very recently, when you look at the park from above you can see the new castle is done. and all the new work on frozen land and marvel land. Also, notice the expansion plot to the east has a lot of construction on it now. SUcks its not disney construction.

That's actually two lands.

Treasure Cove is basically the Pirates stuff & canoes; everything else (Rapids, Soarin', RIP amazing Tarzan show, Camp Discovery) is Adventure Isle. Admittedly they effectively function as one, and the border is more arbitrary than anything else.

It's the stronger side of the park and all the best theming is there. I don't know that I'd go so far as to say best themed area ever, even though it is strong, it all fits together reasonably well, and there's a decent amount of stuff included within both lands.

I agree and a pirate style large boat ride would really help Hong Kong Round out its offerings its a shame the splash / pirates hybrid was never built - perhaps the previously proposed WDW Indy or Jungle book boat rides would be a good fit. A couple of other things on my wish list would be an EMV attraction (something like the moonbuggy chase from Ad Astra would be great) and a soaring / flight of passage attraction (what about a Falcon based one for the Marvel area of Tomorrowland)

Give Hong Kong a Pirates Mountain (if there's any Disney park that NEEDS a water ride to help cool off, HK is it; even on June 1st it was brutal. There needs to be more to protect against the heat than air conditioning in the buildings and 25 fans going full blast yet doing nothing in the Jungle Cruse queue), give Shanghai a Small World, and everyone wins.

I'm kind of surprised neither of the chinese parks have used an EMV ride system yet.

So are they NOT planning any major stage productions during the day?

Because based on that photo, if they were to do anything major it would certainly close the pathway into the castle. Otherwise the actual protruding stage area isn't particularly large. And we know that Disney just can't resist doing those castle stage shows.

Also, how does the Snow White Grotto area fit in to all of this? It's clearly still there but it's not really obvious how people will get into/out of that area. It doesn't really look like it connects to the parade corridor either. Maybe it will just retain the old connection to Fantasyland and it'll be a dead end for the time being?

I can’t understand how you can have a Disneyland without small world its the soul of the park

The daytime show is already planned and designed, according to the castle exhibition. It will debut when COVID-19 subsides. The central pathway will be closed temporarily during show times and reopen when performance ends.

For the Snow White Grotto area, it is just the same as before. It does not connect to the parade route. It acts as a rear entrance to enter Fantasyland through the castle. So guests may choose this path when the central pathway is closed for daytime shows.

Overview posted on themeparx.com

Castle wall turrets in fantasyland have indeed been painted and finished. Also, path, tunnel and bridge to Frozen land seems about done. Not much progress on Frozen land in general. But I heard rumours of it being postponed to 2022 anyways.

Also, looks like the fantasyland theatre is getting an outside refurb or repaint.

Park could reopen as soon as February 18th if corona cases stay down.
It seems like the FEA building is finished...I think the Elsa castle and two mountains above FEA and the coaster will be built outside the site. Once they arrived, the land will be nearly finished.
