Hiding out in the parks

I would like to comment to everyone who's thinking of hiding out after hours, there are few places you can be in the theme parks where Disney can't see you. For example, all of those dark rides (i.e. Pirates of the Caribbean, Peter Pan's Flight, and Snow White's Scary Adventures) have infrared cameras in the places where people think they're "invisible" to security. I learned about this on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. They told us they witness all kinds of teenagers fooling around on those rides!

A few ideas where you might be better off hiding at...

Upstairs at the Columbia Harbor House (since few people realize it's there)
Sky Buckets: Fantasyland Loading Dock
Dressing Rooms in Main Street Stores
Bonyard Playground at the Animal Kingdom
Splash Mountain queue courtyard (all kinds of trees etc.)

*** I don't know if there's much benefit jumping off the Railroad and hiding in some of those Native American scenes. One of those leads up a hill where the Liberty Belle floats right by. ***

Just a few suggestions. Where would you guys hide?

I would just dress up like Walt Disney. I mean seriously who's going to kick him out? You could just walk around all night and tell everyone they are doing a great job. Of course I would have a ghetto-blaster on hand with my wishes cd in it. If someone caught onto my scheme and said something to me I would hit play and skip away...honestly, would you chase someone through a theme park that just did that to you? I think not.

I think like half of the guests that died at DL were from them attempting to climb into the park via the monorail tracks. If I remember correctly, at least 3 have died doing this.

Thats so stupid, after about 2 people have died, why would you STILL do it? Some people are just plain crazy.

I think being in the parks after hours would just be creepy. Everywhere I went I would feel as though someone was 10 steps behind me...scary. The one time my brothers and I entered Epcot's WS from the Boardwalk and made it all the way to Japan before being seen and told to leave. That was fun. HeHe

I recently got back from a trip to Japan where I visited Tokyo DisneySea. My friend Kana and I decided to look behind an area that said 'cast members only' and we found a giant loading dock area. It's really quite amazing to see how abruptly the theming stops. There is literally a line of demarkation where the real world begins and disney ends!!!
Also, i did this one time in MGM near the Tower of Terror...I didn't go in very far because it was a bit creepy, but I did see a mirror right on the inside of the walkway for cast members to 'check' themselves before they go back out to the park. Cool huh??!!?!?!

hiding out

For those interested whilst i was a CP i worked at EPCOT and had a wonderful job! I was able to watch the greatest fireworks show every night, then i had the job of walking the whole park making sure it was clear. We were known as Park Clear under the Rescue Ranger Role. Every night we were assigned an area to keep crowd control for the firework show.. then after the show we walked back to WS and started going through each pavilion (SP?). It was awesome and errie at the same time. We went everywhere even places we prob shouldnt be to make sure no one was hiding out.
People that that it was awesome and they scored a major victory when we told them that they were the last ones in the park.. lol
Was fun to tell control that we had they could turn the lights off!!
ºOº Will miss all the great times

I thought I once heard of a guest standing on Splash Mountain at the top of the main drop. Fell off the log and was then hit by the next log at the bottom of the hill.

Anyone else hear of that story?
I never heard that one, but I heard some guy got off his boat right before you enter the Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah secene and attempted to climb up the the slope and was killed. Anyone else hear about this?

A guy died on Splash Mountain, I was working in entertainment that day, in Splash Mountain, as a friend of the Br'ers. We were informed of what happened, and quickly moved to Expo Hall.

And the guy falling from the Skyway was also true... this was featured all over Orlando news. Both of them were tragic, and were unfortunately, the victims faults.

I don't get it. Why WOULD anyone really want to stay at any Disney park after it closes. Yea I guess it would be an adrelnaline [spelling?] rush, but um no fireworks, no rides open, closed giftshops [oh gasp],etc. What fun is that> Laying in a bed of flowers or inside a trashcan. LOL next morning at EPCOT you become the trashcan. Sneak up next to the EPCOT flower festival guy and take pictures of his holy plant potters.

The girl who died on the carousel of progress, was when the carousel of progress theater was used for "America Sings" at Disneyland. I still am trying to picture how she would ahve died. The theater used to rotate clockwise, yet they rehabed it to rotate counter clockwise for America Sings. Wasn't she in the loading theater when the moving wall hit her...excuse me...crushed her. Reallly sad and tragic. Then you ahve the idiots who die from jumping peoplemovers at Disneyland.

Studios was always creepy (except Muppet Courtyard because they kept the BGM running). Walking past Ewok Village after all-clear always scared the hell out of me. NO music, just the noises. Ah...I miss riding the bikes in Muppet Courtyard after all-clear.

*Remembers crashing head first into the Muppet fountain on one of the broken backstage bikes (Broken BEFORE I crashed it... :lookaroun ...really... :lookaroun ...don't you believe me?)*
That is nothing compared to Adventureland. A few times, it has been in the wee hours of the morning, and I had to go back out and clean up my area...by myself. I could swear voices were coming from the trees lol.

And the Tiki heads that shoot water by the Jungle Cruise entrance are the scariest things when you're by yourself.

One night I spent the night in the parks. I ended up working over until 1:30 AM and had to be back at work at 7:00 AM. At the time I had a 45 minute drive each way so I figure it wasn't worth the trouble and gas driving home for 4 hours. I spent the evening exploring Epcot, tour World Of Motion and Journey In To Imagination ride (before it was ever open to the public. Walk through World Showcase and explored the ride building at the Japan Pavilion, since the ride fell through the building is now use for maintaince.

When I started 3rd shift I walked around World Showcase each night during my dinner break. It was strange only with the park being nearly empty.

The only reason that I would want to stay in a park overnight, is too see all the attractions at a slower pace. However, I just don't know how much fun it would be, if everything was closed. Epcot or AK would probably be my top 2 choices to stay @ overnight.

I don't have any grand ideas of making this happen though. My wife already thinks I'm obsessed with WDW and would have me committed if I tried a stunt like this. She wouldn't even ask any questions, she would be waiting with a straight jacket when the security or police brought me back to my room.

I worked a closing shift when I was a CM last year. My team wasn't too thorough on a sweep, we just kind of kept an eye out for anyone who didn't belong (and believe me, the land where I worked, the uniforms were hard to miss). I'm sure the night staff does a good job of patroling for guests.

Actually, they use DC which is quite hard to get electrocuted by. I believe these guys climbed in and then fell from there trying to get down.

Being a fireman, we refer to this as "concrete" or "asphalt" poisoning.
