Here come the mermaids

I would love to see them but I think you would have to remove the majority of the fort to get a Dutchman replica in there. Then you would lose continuity with the village scenes.

Yes, that's true...well, maybe just the Pearl then, with the battle sounds and water explosions and other effects plussed...in any case, the scene needs something...it's pretty underwhelming by today's standards.

I think a lot could be done with some immersive sound. Hearing the cannon balls flying over, etc. something like what they did in the stretch room of HM.

I like how in the revised ride all the pirates say jack's full title "Captain Jack Sparrow" every time they refer to him. Not only is it strange and unrealistic its completly inconsistent with the movies where nobody calls him by his title and its a running joke that he hates not being adressed by his title. Talk about being way off the mark.

Also, like others have said above forcing a storyline into the existing attraction doesn't make any sense and just feels forced. It would have been better if Sparrow was just added as an AA in the background or in 1 scene.

... why not add the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman to the scene?

No, Here is Blackbeards spiel
DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES!
Aye, Tales there be a plenty in this cursed place
DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES!
Ah but they do tell tales, So says I, Blackbeard
DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES!
If ye be brave or fool enough to face a pirates curse, Proceed
DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES!
Take heed wretched curse, your fate is sealed.
That's Davy Jones' spiel. I haven't seen Blackbeard's, but I'm assuming they're different?

'Where's Waldo with Captain Sparrow'
Disney can't win: if they don't have Jack Sparrow in the ride that people think it based off the movie, they complain. If Disney plastered Jack Sparrow everywhere possible in the refurb, the fanboys would've set the Internet ablaze. And since they tried to do a tasteful job blending him in, now it's "Where's Waldo".

This 100 times! He's hardly ever called "Captain" in the movies. It sticks out like a sore thumb every time I ride; it's the only thing I don't like about the movie additions. You can definitely tell the marketing department gave some notes to Imagineering.

that's the real bizarre thing. Not only are the changes not consistent with the ride they are also not consistent with the movie.

I'm wondering if they will come up to the boat. Because that will scare some people. I'm kinda jealous of Disneyland for still having the original ride. I'm getting pretty tired of the updates. But the mermaids were my favorite part of the movie, so I don't know....
