I think that poster was referring to the store, which is where she said it is and does seem out of place.
I was indeed referring to the store, thanks. Also, the Empress Lilly is a famous paddle wheel river boat, pictured in my avatar.

As a big fan of elegant dining, classic 70s/80s WDW and Disney boats I named myself after this ship, the finest steam ship ever build by Disney.

There's a girl who loves the monorails and named herself 'The Mark VI', and there's a guy who loves old steamships and named himself 'The Empress Lilly'. It's a bit confusing, and I somewhat regret picking this name.

Planet Hollywood is an outside vendor, an actual real life, present day place to visit. What's more, a place that presents a version of Hollyood that I find clashes with the Disney version of Hollywood.

I see your point, but I wonder how many other "outside" vendors ply their trade in the parks. Coca Cola or Kodak comes to mind first. When looking at it from the view point of "yesterdays Hollywood", I understand what you are saying.

Yes, but Coca-Cola is a drink I drink, and Kodak a film I take pictures with. I'm fine with that.

But Planet Hollywood is a place you visit. It's like...I'm fine with Heinz ketchup served on my fries in a Disney park, but not with a McDonald's in Frontierland serving them.

It seems like they get all the stuff that really doesn't fit anywhere else..and that's why I like it. You can be in the wild west, outer space, under the sea, and even become an American idol!

I remain completely smitten with the Studios!

I actually very much agree with every criticism levelled at the Studios, but even in its current limbo I can't help but really like it.

- Star Tours! ST2 is full of win.
- The beauty of the front half of the park! The two boulevards and Echo Lake are among the best, prettiest, most immersive work ever done by Imagineering. I feel so at home there, my spirit lifted so much.
- All that pretty Streamline Moderne architecture everywhere! I swoon over the lines, colours, curves and materials of the Art of Animation building. And the AI building. So very pretty!
- The music! All that fantastic film music everywhere!
- Indy and Star Wars!
- The 30s/40s/50s were just sooo stylish! The interior of some shops...wow! I wish DHS would set up a few fashion stores with period clothing. They'd make a killing!
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid! To me, the best live show on property.

All that......and the Tune In Lounge. Our favorite place to sit and have a drink.

Having Planet Hollywood store in DHS is like having Starbucks on Main Street !Keep it out !
They can sell Starbucks , just dont put in a store like the ones that are in every shopping center in America

The main problem with DHS is that it feels very much like half a park. For the most part, what they do have is great, they just need more of it. DHS is supposed to be a tribute to the "Hollywood that never was and always will be" but comes across as the "Theme Park that wasn't finished and never will be." ;)

Well, isn't Disneyland supposed to be the same way, too, a park that wasn't finished and never would be?

You mean, like in the MK?

So far you can only be in the wild west and outer space but next year yes you can be under the sea! And you can be an american idol at mk but your going to look funny going around singing and asking people to judge how pitchy you are. The difference being that in MK those are lands with similar themes throughout...at DHS it's 1 block from Toy Story Mania to Star Wars, and another hundred feet to Indiana Jones...i don't know that any other park in disney has such diversity so close

I'm trying so hard to find the appeal of Hollywood Studios! My MIL loves it, loves the "old hollywood" kind of feel to it, but I have such a hard time there.

Im not a roller coaster person, so RR and ToT are out for me! I do like The Great Movie ride, but thats about it!!

So tell me, what do YOU love about the beautiful Hollywood Studios?? : )

I love DHS. Granted RnR and ToT are two of my favorites, but even without them the park is great.

You have to realize it is more about shows than rides, which shouldn't be surprising in a park based around TV and movies. Beauty and the Beast is amazing, a beautiful staging of a great story. Voyage of the Little Mermaid is a fun visit to all of the movie's musical themes. The two stunt shows are a fun and interesting inside look at movie magic. The Muppets does a masterful job of capturing the spirit of the original TV show. American Idol is fun, and I don't even like the TV show. And of course the day ends with the tour de force Fantasmic!

Throw in Star Tours and Toy Story Mania, two great rides, based on two of the best movie series ever and you have a great park.

I've realized recently how I like the other parks more than the Studios but none the less I still like the Studios. I just like the other parks more.

I don't have the love for DHS that I have for the other parks either. It's funny because MGM (as it was back then) has some of my fondest memories when we visited as a child (and it didn't have near the attractions that it has today). I remember riding the Backlot Tour twice because we thought the ride was so cool. Fast forward to today and I find myself saying, "meh"! And I love TOT and RnR... I can't imagine how I would feel about the park if I didn't like the thrill rides. I think I feel that way because I have children and the park really lacks in the family dept. We love TSMM as a family and Star Tours but that's about it. I enjoy the BaTB show but the rest of the family doesn't care for it. I've seen LMA way too many times. Indiana was cool in it's day but certainly needs to be updated to the ride or something else. Couldn't care less about AI and the GMR (sorry to the fans that love it). The Muppets scare my daughter (she's fine on Star Tours but hates Muppets - go figure) and Disney Junior is really only for little kids (they grow out of it quick).

I wish I liked the park more, I really do! Maybe in the future it will become a family favorite...

I also do not like roller coasters. What I love about DHS is the ambiance of the place.I LOVE older television shows like I Love Lucy so for me dining at Prime Time Cafe is pure magic. That is the only place I make it a challenge to clean my plate or the waiter will give me this:

"Now you KNOW mamma been workin' hard on that dinner. Mama ain't gonna be happy when I walk back there with food still on that plate. If you like momma's cookin and wanna make momma happy then you might wanna finish those fries..."

I also like the really random things that happen there to me. One time I was waiting for some family to get out of the restroom over in between Star Wars and The Muppets and all of a sudden I hear music. So I look up and the Power Ranger float was exiting to the employees only area. It wasn't really busy and as they were going backstage they looked at me sitting on a bench, struck a pose and waved goodbye to me. I smiled and thought, "Only at DHS."

You are probably aware of this, but do you know that Universal has a fine little museum devoted to Lucille Ball? It's well worth checking out if you are into that sort of stuff.

Oh yes. I must have spent forever in there trying to read every little piece of information. But thank you for the info anyway. I wasn't aware of it until recently.
