We are headed down with my sister and her extended family for a Grand Gathering in December. Need some help choosing the perfect place for us to eat dinner at Hollywood Studios.

Here's the cast:
5 (yes, 5!) Grandparents ages mid 50's to early 60's
4 Parents - late 20's early 30's
4 children - 9, 7, 4 & 4

Suggestions?????

With so many people and possibly varied tastes it might be beneficial to try the buffet at Hollywood and Vine. There are characters there for the kids and the parents/grandparent would enjoy watching the kids/character interaction too!

It's all a matter of personal choice, but we love the 50's Prime Time Cafe. I'm thinking that your five grandparents might enjoy the ambience of the restaurant. I know my mother in law loved watching all the shorts on the tv.

Ooo a grand gathering...how fun!

If you want to stick inside the park, I'd go with Hollywood and Vine.
They'd be able to accommodate your large group, accommodate different tastes as is is a buffet and it's pretty good! We've always liked it there.

As another poster suggested, if you don't mind taking the boat over to the Boardwalk or Yacht & Beach club, there are great dining options there as well. Cape May at the Beach Club is also a buffet and good too.

The last time that I checked, DHS has no "Grand Gathering" experiences. If you want everyone together, you will have to call group dining. God luck getting that many folks at the same table.

Unless things have changed since early December, there are no characters at H&V at dinner time.

I was in charge of a GG in 2008. There were 15 of us. We ate at Hollywood & Vine on our DHS day. It was good, nothing spectacular. We tried to stick with buffets and family-style places. With 15 people trying to order off a menu, food to be cooked and everyone to eat, would take up very valuable park time. We did you Le Cellier one night and that took almost 2 hours.

Let me know if you want any other opinions or have questions.

You know, I'm not a huge fan of Hollywood & Vine. I've eaten there once for lunch and once for dinner (Fantasmic Package) and honestly thought it was the worst buffet I'd had at WDW (not as bad as it could be, but not my favorite.)

I was really leaning toward 50's Prime Time - I know we would be split up, but I think we would be okay with that. I know my Dad would love it. Just don't know after some of the bad reviews I've read?

Everyone else on this trip is making THIS trip their "once in a lifetime Disney experience." We've chosen to use the Dining Plan to make it easier for everyone else to budget, so I'd like for the dinner to be as nice as possible and not "waste" the TS credit. Does that make sense?

I know it's not that big of a deal, but I want them to have the most magical experience possible! So thanks for all of the input!!!

May favs in DHS are 50s Prime Time and The Brown Derby. The Yacht Club nearby also has the Captain's Grill, which is often overlooked and offers a decent fixed price menu, and the Beach Club also has the Cape May Cafe Buffet.

We use the buffets as a great way to meet and greet with characters... there is so much better dining at DW. The Brown Derby is awesome... and I love the suggestion of the boat trip to the boardwalk...another little adventure along the way! Have a great time!

We love, love , love the 50s prime time. I don't know what bad reviews you've heard, but we haven't had a bad experience. We have always loved the service and the experience. If you don't mind being split up, I would say try it.
