Could anyone help identify where this picture was taken and what it is of. I was going through pictures from my first trip to WDW in February 1973 (I was 5 months old) and can't figure out what and where it is. From the garbage can it appears to be Frontierland but what is being built. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks
Chad

Could it be something on Tom Sawyer's Island? That building on the far right seems to look like one of the buildings that is on Tom Sawyer's Island now.

I agree. At bottom left of the picture is what appears to be a dock, and the time the picture was taken fits with the construction of TSI, which opened in 1973.

It is indeed Tom Saywers Island - Harpers Mill on the right and Toms Landing on the left. The island opened 9 months after your visit

Not sure about it being TSI. Where is that walkway now as it is pretty far back from the buildings, which would be where the water is now I would think. Also, how would the people get over there to be walking on that path....it isn't taken from Frontierland as the buildings are too close to the pathway (the "River" is wider then that). I was thinking Fort Wilderness, maybe River Country or Pioneer Hall.

All you can see in the photo is the side of the river on TSI; it`s deceptively wide since you can`t see the river bed. It was taken roughly outside the CBJ exit.

The hardest part for Martin was going through his thousands of photos to find the one at the exact angle of the original picture :)

Thanks

Thanks Martin, I knew I could count on you and everyone else on wdwmagic. With the angle and pathway I felt it was TSI as well just didn't know it didn't open till late 1973 and the lack of water in the River threw me off.

I have a bunch more photos from our trips. My parents moved and we have been going through pictures. We used to go every January-February so have some real cool ones.

Thanks again.

Nah. I got lucky. It was only 5 subfolders in on my archive drive

Chad - my pleasure. Looking forward to seeing what else you and your family have ;)
