So I caved in today and got the water park option added to our park hoppers for our August trip. How often do you guys go to the water parks on your trip? a full day? several times for a couple of hours each? What should we make sure not to miss?

Thanks!

Get there at park opening for starters... Definitely get a large locker or 2. Do as much as possible right off the bat. My kids and I did everything at each park by 11:30, seperate visits, and were exhausted(Too many steps!!). People don't really start showing up for an hour or 2 and then it really gets crowded. So, if you get it it all done early, you can either spend the rest of the day lounging around there and goofing off and re-riding everything, or you can take off and do Disney Quest in the afternoon/evening. With any luck, you may win a magical moment if you get to a water park early. I did and I got a free large locker rental that was stocked with 4 towels and 2 refillable soda mugs(Total of around $35 worth of stuff!).

Nice prize! Which reminds me - what is the refillable soda mug cost at the Water Parks? About the same as the resorts?

When we visit Disney we tend to stay for 2 weeks. As we have plenty of time we often visit a water park in the morning and then go to one of the parks from mid-afternoon. It's quite relaxing and doesn't get you as tired compared to a full day in the park. Last time we went to both BB and TL twice and loved every minute. Not to be missed is Crush'n'Gusher at TL which is a sort of WaterCoaster with inflatable rings (keep your bum lifted up though!!!). You can take a snorkel with fish and some sharks at Shark Reef.. again at TL. At BB it depends on how brave you are. Summit Plummit is an experience you won't want to miss if you don't mind dropping 120ft in 3 seconds. We prefer the family raft ride (Teamboat Springs..I think!!). It's a really long ride in large inflatable raft and is great fun. Both have excellent lazy rivers where you can relax and float right around both water parks.... but watch out for the freezing water from the sneezing alligator. Have a great time as I'm sure you will.

Great tips so far. Do the towels cost money there? Can you bring one from your room or is that taboo?

I think they ran about $10.25

Towel rental is $1, I believe, but you can bring your own.

Oh yeah... SUNSCREEN and WATER SHOES or FLIP FLOPS(For when it gets HOT!)

We did each of the water parks during our last visit. Arrived soon after park opening and stayed until early afternoon - giving time to return to change and hit our chosen park for the evening

We like to go to the water parks right when they open (just like the parks go to the more popular rides first) and then stay to till mid to late afternoon and take a little break at our hotel, and then after that we head to Downtown Disney and go to a nice place to eat and shop.

I'm following right along with this, too! I think we're going to do BB this trip since Jeff (dh) decided he is going with us now! Brandon (ds13) really wanted to go, but if it was just him and I along with Justin (ds8), I just didn't want to deal with it since Justin isn't a big swimming sort of kidlet, I didn't want to have to sit on the side of the pool with him all day while Brandon did the fun stuff. I know, I'm selfish, but I wanna have fun, too! But now that Jeff is coming, I think we're going to give BB a shot! That's where Brandon wanted to go, so that's fine with me! Then Jeff and I can take turns hanging out with Justin while the other one goes and does things with Brandon. I'm pretty sure Jeff can take on Summit Plummit with Brandon, though! I'm a little scared of that one!! But, who knows? Maybe I'll have a brave moment?? Prob not!! I'll float down lazy river with Justin instead!

Opening the Park

We arrive to Blizzard Beach with 2 little boys in tow, 1 hour early, a couple of years back. In fact, we were the first family to arrive. Little did we realize the surprise that awaited us. A CM asked me, if I was going down the Ski Jump slide (Mt. Gushmore) and I said that was the reason we came today. We were escorted in way early, given the choices of seating, towels, lockers, snack etc.. After a coount down of 10 to 1 by the crowd, I went down the slide and and the park opened for the day. WHAT A BLAST

Depends on the weather. If there is a moderate or high possibility of thunderstorms, you should stay at the parks instead. The pools are closed in case of a thunderstorm. Only go there when you have good weather.

Oooops I forgot, my suggestions are only valid if you stay at a disney-resort because transportation is only a matter of minutes. If you stay off property and come with your own car, things could look different.

We prefer TL. We always arrive at opening. Get a spot near the wave pool. One of our family traditions is to buy towels one of our first days at WDW. Towels make great souvineirs and we take them with us to pools and water parks. Then we get a locker for personal belongings. After wallets and room keys in locker we hit ALL the slides and a trip around the lazy river. We then head for our spot at the wave pool. We spend the rest of the day in and out of the pool and lazy river. The slide lines get very long about 1-2 hours after opening. By hitting htem first we can relax the rest of the day. When we go we usually stay until early afternoon.

Well you will want to go for more than 1 day to get your money's worth. If you were only going for 1 day it would have been less expensive to buy the water park admission separately.

Usually 1 day of waterparking per trip is enough for us. We get there when it opens at 9 and stay till about 3 and then do something else for the evening.

True. The TL-towels are of high quality with a beautiful design! We love them. And we prefer TL too. The bobbing waves in meltdown bay in BB just CANNOT compare with the tsunami-like surf waves in TL and we don't like slides too much anyway.

Try to remember this, we found out that if you have been to at least BB once and got their mugs, you can bring the mugs back, ( they don't change ) and just buy the bar code sticker to put on the mug for a couple of dollars less, works out to a great savings if you have 4 very thirsty people.

I am so glad I found this thread. We arrive in less than two weeks and this will be our first time with the water parks. Besides billfolds/park passes do you put anything else in your lockers? I was thinking I could just leave our towels/sunblock on the chairs. Also, are there water park specific souvineers? For example are there TL beach towels and BB beach towels.

This trip we are going for 14 days with the 10 day park passes w/water parks and more option. Our goal is to have 4 days that are sort of goof off, water park/ Disney Quest, sleep in once or twice. We aren't doing the 'other' parks but might go to the beach one day.

Am I correct that we have 10 water parks and more options on our 10 day passes. If we go to BB in the morning and Disney Quest in the evening that is 2 options. Right? Thanks.

Oh yeah are the water park mugs different at each park? Or are they generic now like the resort mugs? I am thinking of buying one at each park. Then add the bar codes on the other days. Thanks again!

I have been to Disney many times but this will be my first time at the water parks, too.

Yes, if you have a 10 day pass you can use it 10 times in any order throughout your trip. TL in am, DQ in afternoon and PI at night...you just used 3.

We are very excited to go to the parks this time and hope we get good use out of them.:)
