Every year at the end of May the citizens of Cheltenham, England, get together on nearby Cooper’s Hill to chase four 8-lb. wheels of Double Gloucester cheese down the hill. It's a race to catch the cheeses. First prize: a large wheel of Double Gloucester cheese. Enthusiasts say it got its start as a pre-Roman fertility rite.

Note: This is not as tame as it sounds. In 1995, 18 of the 20 contestants were injured - 4 had to be hospitalized. By comparison, only 11 people weer injured in the running of the bulls in Pamplona, Spain, that year.

BTW, 240 of the world's 400 different types of cheese come from France.

:D :D :D

In the early 1980's, during a showing of the movie Airport on television, the Lafayette, Louisiana, Water Department noted unusual changes in the water system. Their review: "At approximately 8:30, a bomb exploded in the airplane, and from then until nine p.m., when the pilot landed safely and the movie ended, nobody left his television to do anything–then there was a 26-pound drop in water pressure." The department estimates that 20,000 Lafayette residents used the "John" at the same time.

BTW, ratings for other films: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: a 19-lb. drop in pressure; Patton: a 22 lb drop..

And not so BTW, the most common street name in America is "Park Street" As a matter of fact, I can think of three different streets not so far away from me that have that name :)

Marcia, how did you know I always keep a candy stash in the desk? Actually, it needs to be replenished since the day I forgot my lunch and at the candy bars instead....

A man and a woman were involved in a terrible car accident and both cars were totaled. They climbed from the wreckage and the woman stood in awe. ''Our cars are demolished, yet we walk unharmed. This must be a sign from God that we are to be best friends for the rest of our lives,'' she spoke wisely.

''I agree completely, ma'am,'' the man replied.

The woman stepped closer to examine the damage and noticed something shiny within her car. Reaching in, she pulled out an unbroken bottle. ''This bottle of wine wasn't even cracked. I think this is another sign that we are to drink a toast to our new friendship.''

''That's a great idea, miss,'' the man answered taking the bottle from her. He popped the cork and drank his share.

''I'm sorry. How rude of me. Would you like some?''

''No, thanks,'' came the reply. ''I'll just wait on the cops to get here.'

What a coincidence! So am I! I wish Dopey were here - we could start a club! :p

I just wanted a reason to post something, anything. I am having Forum withdrawal! Thanks to my new corporate Big Brother, I can no longer visit here from the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. God forbid I have a loose thread! I'd have to contact HQ and check the protocols for thread extraction!

P.S. You're really not a dope, Mighty! :)

Good to see you. :)

PS Thanks, Tink. I sure do feel like one sometimes...
