Haunted Mansion extension?

Perhaps the removal of the blacklight spiders?

Boy, do I hope so. You know, when I was there at the end of May, for as much as I've always loved the Mansion, I noticed it was getting a little hoary and could use some cleanup here and there. (Not to mention the updates that DL has gotten/will be getting.)

But most of all, as we went by that blacklight spider area, I thought to myself, "what a waste of space that could be used for some really cool effects!"

Yeah, that place needs a good dusting. Too many cobwebs. :lookaroun

But what I meant is that there are areas that could use sprucing up. I'm not the first to notice that the Stretch Room wallpaper is showing track marks, thereby harming the illusion. And the sound system needs some improvement.

But as I said...that whole stupid spider area is just BEGGING to be made over. All that space, and what do we get? Cheesy blacklight spiders that we could see in a carnival midway funhouse! Maybe that might be a good place for an idea discussed long ago...a lady looks into a mirror only to suddenly be trapped in it!

Wonder if anyone would like to see the HM queue area go back to the way it originally was in the early 70's. This is one idea I would like to see happen since they are getting ready to rehab that area. Take a look at these pics.:lookaroun  :D

new DL updates in WDW too yes,(the bride and such).
gift shop no.
and if they are going to add any film references,(im not saying they are)i would like the front to have the front redone to look like mansion did in the film, with the big iron gates, the sweeping driveway and the lake.
i think that would look cool.

I never understood the complaint about HM not having a storyline. Why does it need one? Do Space Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain have storylines? Not that I can discern, and it certainly doesn't detract from the fun on either of those rides. Isn't wandering through an EXTREMELY haunted house enough of a storyline?

Space mountain has a storyline it is about FedEx but it is something(really no one cares about the mail when it comes to space travel but he Who cares when it come down to it). And BTM has one to remember the flooded mineing village your on a run away train that has some connection with the flood.
Disney can get away with any movie based on a ride if they wanted to as bad as some can be they still canb get away with it

Anyway back to HM I highly dought this is true if any change it would most likely be a change like DL's like the bride. Disney isn't that stupid to put a movie that boomed into a classic well at least we can hope the only good movie related thing the can do without everyone getting really mad would be adding the tomb (which really was the only good part of the movie) but still pretty much imposible. Still the only real thing that we know is going to happen is the changes of the line so for now we should all relax and ride it as many times as humanly possibe till we learn the truth

Big Thunder and Space Mountain both do indeed have storylines. Virtually everything at WDW does.

As for the HM's "official" storyline: it's a tour through a retirement home for ghosts whose haunts were demolished in the name of progress (and that's according to Walt; I doubt you could get more official than that - you can hear him talk about it on the first track of the attraction soundtrack album (which was in turn taken from the Disneyland 10th anniversary special)).

Marc Davis said in an online chat conducted a few years before his death that the point of the HM wasn't to tell a story per se, but to give the guests an experience.

there is no central story to the attraction. PotC suffered the same story problems, but the refurb greatly helped with that.

What? HM and PoTC have the best story lines of any Disney attractions. If they didn't, then how did they make movies from a 10-15 minute ride? Stop messing with the classics! As for this rumor, I see a gift shop with a ride photo of you and your "hitchhiker" being offered along with assorted HM merchandise.

The movies have absolutely nothing to do with the attractions. They were just inspired from the attraction. Before 2003, there was no such people as Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbosa Elizabeth Swan or Will Turner. The entire story of the Black Pearl was made up & had nothing to do with the attraction. As for HM movie, it was a bit closer to the attraction but still had nothing to do with it. I'd say over half the movie had nothing to do at all with the attraction.
